Loyal Customer Statement - Disappointment with Fox's Boutique Corporate Office. It was already disappointing over the years Fox's Corporate Office decision to close Oak Brook, the manager there name was Angela and then they closed the downtown Chicago location, leaving only the Skokie store in operation. For many loyal customers, including myself, this remaining location is not conveniently accessible. Several weeks ago, I called the Skokie location inquiring about a long-time employee who had been with the company believe for over 12 years. I was informed that she was no longer with Fox's. Concerned, I contacted the Corporate Office and spoke with a male representative who assured me that someone would return my call. Unfortunately, I never received a follow-up. When I called back, I spoke to the same individual, who denied ever stating that I would be contacted. I visited the Skokie store today and was disappointed to find that the clothing selection no longer reflects the stylish, fashion-forward reputation Fox's once had. The merchandise was underwhelming and lacked the quality and appeal I had come to expect. Only one familiar face remained on staff. It is unfortunate that Corporate chose to part ways with a valued and experienced employee who built strong relationships with customers. Decisions like this risk alienating the loyal customer base that has supported Fox's for years. Based on my recent experience, future of the remaining location don't look promising. read more

Customer service....what customer service? I asked if they would hold a couple of items for a few hours so I could come back after an appointment. They refused. They have always put things aside for a few hours -or even longer, in the past. The clerk had no interest in providing any customer service and just insisted that they don't do this any more. In addition, the selection is not very good in terms of different sizes --they used to carry extra small clothing. I was a very regular shopper at this store but it has gone down hill. I have been a customer at Fox's for over 30 years. I started shopping at the Halsted street store for years and then I stoped at the Skokie store and met the most wonderful sales person, Sara. I love her so much, I consider her a Dear Friend! I have sent my friends, clients and family to the store and tell them to only ask for Sara! They have All loved their experiences! My husband, Brian, will often say-let's go visit Sara at Fox's. I text her to let her know that we are on our way and when we arrive she is there with a big smile and warm hug! And, not only do we find things that are fabulous, we Love seeing our friend, Sara! Sara is attentive, smart, honest and an overall wonderful human being! The hardest worker that I ever met! This review is long overdue and this is less about the Skokie location only but more about the Skokie location compared to Fox's other locations in NJ, NY, CT, and Atlanta. I have been a Fox's customer for almost 30 years as I am originally from the East Coast and while I live in the Chicago area now, I visit my east coast family multiple times a year. During these trips, I visit a minimum of three different Fox locations looking to refresh my wardrobe. I have driven to Whippany, Marlboro, Stanford CT, Ridgewood and even Manhattan and Long Island because each store has its own mix of clothes and it's worth it to visit several. On almost every trip, I would go home with 5-10 full big bags of new clothing purchased at Foxs. In fact, if they would look up my buying history in the computer, I can almost guarantee I would be in the top 5% of spenders in their stores. The clothing that is sent to the Skokie store is so inferior compared to the clothing that is sent to the New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Atlanta stores. We get the older, dowdy styles, or somewhat trashy styles that look very cheaply made. I have proved this over and over again because when I drive home with my trunk loaded with Fox's clothes from the east coast, I will stop at the Skokie location just to see how their selection looks. Surely if they had beautiful items in these stores, then Skokie must have some great items as well. Not true. I would usually just find one thing I even wanted to try on. Coincidentally, one of the sales ladies (or could have been a manager) heard me telling a customer that I had just returned from NJ and she came running up to me and said "Ok tell me the truth, do they get better clothes than we do?" "You better believe it" I told her. Her answer "I knew it!" and proceeds to tell me that she was mistakenly sent a shipment that was meant for Atlanta and she couldn't believe how much nicer the clothes were. In fact, she sold a beautiful dress almost immediately to a regular customer. Obviously, the owners of Foxs have this mistaken idea that the Midwest is "flyover country" filled with a bunch of unstylish farm types or something, but I can assure you that is not the case. The Chicago area is loaded with stylish women who love dressing up in beautiful and trendy clothes. Sadly my visits to NJ have come to an end since my father passed away and so my tenure as a Foxs customer may be coming to an end as I am not that motivated to visit the Skokie store. I am hoping the owner and management will see this review and maybe make some changes that will bring me back as a regular customer. read more

I have shopped for almost all my clothing at Fox's in Skokie for almost 15 years. I sadly agree with the long-time customers who are very disappointed in the Skokie store over the past few years. There is no question in my mind that the clothing selection has changed and gone downhill badly. I used to depend on Fox's to find unique, interesting, attractive clothes for every occasion in my life----not true, anymore, and I am really unhappy. Whenever I go to Florida, I try to shop at Fox's in Boca Raton, and frequently find some nice clothes there, but the Skokie store ? Almost never. Fox's management needs to step up and take a new direction for the Skokie store. Put better clothes on the racks, and long-time customers like me will be delighted to shop there again! I enjoy shopping at Fox's. I am a regular customer and go there frequently. I was shocked when I was in the store today and looking at the jewelry, deciding whether to make a purchase when one of the clerks stopped me and said I was to stay in the jewelry section and not go to any other area of the store. I understand there is a problem with retail theft but it was rude and insulting. I wondered if she would have said that to another regular customer. It was very off putting. Thee worst customer service. I had a return because item was too small. Still within the return guidelines and I was accused by the manager Sara that I re tagged the item. I had plan on purchasing something else while being watched she brings me the item I returned in a different size. So finally I told her if the item was too small originally why are you bringing me an extra small size. I felt fat shamed and truly disrespected. I live practically next door to this store. I received a Christmas blouse from there. I had a gift receipt. I combed the receipt for a return policy and there was none printed on the receipt. When I went to return this CHRISTMAS GIFT, I was told that it was past the return date. I explained to the clerk that I had had covid and then pointed out there was no return policy on the receipt. I'm shocked at the customer service here. I'm pretty sure it must be the owner because no employee would ever be that rude to a customer! I ended up leaving the store, and I left the blouse. Fox's is an interesting, although strange store. I thought by "designer" they would be having more pieces like Gucci, Prada, Mulberry etc. but no. I saw brands from BCBG Generation to Free People to Ivanka Trump to Alberto Makali. This is a very eclectic mix. There were also a lot of brands I've never heard of before, and the quality seemed to vary. Prices weren't rock bottom ($68 Free People shirt became $44). Staff was nice though, and they did have free coffee by the dressing room. I think this place isn't my cup of tea though and I probably won't be back anytime soon. read more

I had a really bad experience today in this store. While I was shopping, I was approached by an employee who told me I had to wear a face mask. I explained to her that I had a medical exemption and I can not wear one. She said "we don't do it here, any kinds of exemptions don't work here, it's a law" . Please educate your employees on the difference between laws and mandates, as well as on discrimination against the customers based on medical or religious beliefs. Also, if you are following the "mandate", then please follow all of it, including EO 2021-20 CV-19 EO 87 Section 1. Returned to Fox's to look for a bday present for my fellow diva. They were having a $5 off all jewelry sale, which brought a lot of the necklaces down to $34. I was also able to score a pair of sky high Betsey Johnson pumps for half price. Now my goal in life will be to rock them without twisting my ankle! Anyway, the store is pretty spacious. I'm sure there's some gems of clothing among the racks and racks, if you take the time to browse. The lady at the register tried to be friendly, I think, but she came off as really curt; it was in a grandmotherly way, so I let it pass. Returns can be made within only 3 days. read more

The clothing is really nice but the customer service is definitely terrible, you can walk in this store pass an employee and they don't even speak. I've seen coworker's have a whole conversation amongst themselves and simply ignore customers. When I first went to the Skokie store I thought this is a different experience then I was accustomed to at their other stores. But I was willing to be open minded because of the clothing. I also noticed it appears that they cater to thoses would are shopping with a mate, especially those who are trying on their clothes and walking out to show them. Have you considered that most husbands are happy to let their mates and wives buy whatever they like? Or there are single females well equipped to finance their own shopping sprees. The other stores have always asked did you want them to start a room for you but here that has happened only twice out of at least eight to ten times shopping at this location. I've carried a arm full of items pass numerous employees and wasn't offered any assistance. This isn't my first experience either. I have been to different Fox's stores I started in Oakbrook Il. then in Chicago on Halsted street before they closed, but so far I really enjoy my shopping experiences at the downtown store on Madison, they truly have fantastic customer service on top of a beautiful selection. I followed them at their new downtown location which I was so disappointed with the location. They should have stayed in Lincoln park. Anyway, they must have changed buyers there because I rarely found anything. Now they have closed and I gave Skokie a try. I called today and asked about the return policy for an exchange and the lady with a thick accent chewed me out, tried hanging up on me and was one of the rudest people I have ever spoken to! They have a 3 day return policy! Who has time to do that?! Besides when you bring something in to get something else, is that not considered an exchange? They reduced the item I was exchanging to the last sale price despite my having the receipt and told me that they don't take returns past three days. You know the time when you try on a top or a dress that's a smidge too small and you need to do a little dance to wiggle out of it. Said dance may consist of holding your arms above your head and wiggling your body back and forth shimmying the dress over your head or bending over at the waist with the hopes that the garment will just fall off. Normally this occurs in the privacy of your own dressing room. Now imagine finding yourself in this peculiar situation in Fox's dressing room, which consists of a dozen or so 3x4 dressing alcoves in a large room WITH NO DOORS OR CURTAINS, and with the 4 or 5 sales associates congregated in the middle of the large room certainly watching you struggle in and out of clothes. I came here with my mom to help her find some dresses, with no intention of trying anything on myself. But to my delight there were some super cute Rachel Roy dresses at a ridiculous price that I just couldn't pass up. Had I known about this dressing room situation, I probably wouldn't have worn my bright blue, semi-see thru lacy bra or a pair of undies that have seen better days (clearly not coordinating undergarments). At one point, I was trying to take off a dress and put on another dress without totally stripping down and, I'm not kidding you, 3 sales associates were practically standing inside my tiny little alcove gushing over the dress that I was trying to wiggle down past my hips without taking my underwear with it. I also practically dislocated my shoulder trying to shimmy a dress off over my head. All with a captivated audience looking on... I mean - this is ridiculous. I'm not prude or embarrassed to be in my bra/underwear in front of other women, but it's totally unnecessary to have this set up. One curtain panel would do the trick and the customers would feel 100% more comfortable. Aside from the dressing room fiasco, I was pretty surprised with the inventory. It's a store I would have never considered shopping at before but they had some really good designers (David Meister, Ellie Tahari, Alice + Olive, Rachel Roy, etc.) at crazy low prices. The salespeople are rude and useless. They had these shirts on the mannequin's I wanted and they had no idea where it was on the racks. I understand not knowing where everything is located but they should at least know where the clothes are that are on the mannequin's (it's a show piece!). I was a salesperson years ago and we made sure we knew where things were located but then again this place is very crowded with racks after racks of clothing. I was excited about this place because my friend had told me about their Lincoln Park location and the fantastic designer deals she has enjoyed. I have to say, the clothing was disappointing. Nothing caught my eye. The had a decent selection of shoes- that was a plus. But, as another review mentioned, the quality is certainly suspect. I'll check out the Lincoln Park location when I'm in the neighborhood. Until then, I'll stick with TJ Maxx and Marshalll's when I want to go bargain hunting. read more

If I could give a store no stars, this would be it. Being a retail buyer and customer service consultant for over 20 years, this chain store took me by surprise. This store is an "off price" designer store. They claim to have all the latest designer fashions at 30-50% off of the original prices. Sure they have many designer brands, but the wares that they sell are the designers B-line. You will not find these same fashions in a high end department store...only similar patterns and fabrics. In truth, this is basically a Fashionbug type store. A real pig in lipstick. They aim for a quaint boutique feel by offering their clientle coffee and donuts...though none was to be had when we were there...just remnants of crumbs and an empty tray and unwashed coffee pot. Nasty, if you ask me. Store is tight and unkempt all around. Definitely not handicapped accessible, let alone child friendly. The aisles are tight. I believe that there is an unspoken rule in the industry regarding the space between racks. I think that anyone over a size 10 would be a bull in a China shop here...no way could anyone over a size 10 walk between the racks. Extremely rude staff. I believe that I am being kind when I say extremely rude. Incredibly unhelpful but quick to give every customer the evil stink eye. I was never once greeted, I had to find the cashier. I was told by the sour faced older woman to bring a "buggy" for my son in the future, she did not appreciate the fact that I had entered the store with the cart from Office Depot. Sorry. It's a strip mall. I was shopping. I'm not a bum that stole a grocery cart. For a moment I wanted to demand speaking to her manager about her rudeness, but I decided that since I never would shop here again, it wasn't worth my while, rude people like her will soon find their place in the unemployment line soon enough. I was pissed enough to use my Platinum American Express for payment to show the clerk that I wasn't just a bum. After she checked my id to make sure that I was who I said I was and that I wasn't using a stolen card, she tried to back track. Too late, the damage was already done. The worst part of this store other than the snooty staff is their ridiculous return policy. You have 3 days. Seriously. 3 days. Whoever heard of such a thing? Incredible bs if you ask me. Especially when you check out their store hours. *Note. I tried to exchange the item that I bought because I noticed that it was sewn incorrectly. I had guests over the weekend, so I had no other choice but to go exchange the item on the last possible day. Incredible. This store closes at 6pm on weekdays!! I've read most of these reviews and it appears these women have not been to the shop more than once or twice. I've been going for over 10 years and I did see the transformation since the remodel several years ago. I was so glad to see more jewelry, coats, shoes, boots and more accessories added. First, when I go seriously shopping for myself, I personally would not bring a child or stroller. I admit it would be difficult to move around with a stroller let alone a 'shopping cart'. Second, I rarely buy clothes as gifts because they have sizes that are cut for Europeans and Americans so sizes are not uniform for women as they are for men. Third, I would not dare to compare Fox's with Loehmann's, Marshall's, or TJ Maxx. I always find helpful assistants at Fox's and since I have been going for years, I know many by name and many times I do not actually have to shop the racks. I just ask the assistant what I'm looking for and they get me a variety to try on. You will never find any assistants at these other discount stores. Fourth, because they receive there shipments on a daily basis, it can be a hit or miss so I can come away with 12 great items or none sometimes. This holiday season I found fabulous jewelry for 3 on my list and I wish they didn't like their gifts so much, I would loved to have kept them for myself! Fox's is a designer outlet with discounted prices due to overstock of the same year's fashion. Many times I have found outfits literally at higher end stores for retail what I spent 30-40% lower and sometimes even more... My favorite salesladies are Wendy, Janet, & Mona. I have referred many clients to this store and I get complemented daily on my outfits. I have visited the Fox's on Halsted and it is extremely small and limited in styles. read more

Fox's is a place you really have to have patience for, they have a bit of everything. They try to cater to both the older more conservative crowd and the bright cheesy teeny bopper clothes. Some of the items you have to wonder who in the world would wear this stuff.. The staff isn't very helpful and the store itself is confusing. But if you have time and the will to peruse the racks, you are bound to find treasures. The first time I went i found a michael, by michael kors black sheath dress for $50 that I am still in love with. But i've gone back three or four times and found nothing. Some of their clothing items are overpriced for their quality... I do like the fact that they have an extensive shoe selection that is always changing. i wish there was a negative star option. i came in with my grandmother and the whole time i was in there, an employee was loudly complaining about her boss which i guess should've taken as a warning but my grandmother was pretty excited to look around. after digging through many, many racks, i found two pairs of pants that i liked (which, the size selection was horrible. the first pair only came in XS and S, and for the second pair, there were only two pants and they were both L, i personally wear medium but i figured i'd give it a shot). while the one i wanted was a little big, i decided i'd get it anyway because it was the second to last on the rack and i liked the style. after dealing with the tiny fitting room, i decided to check out while my grandmother finished changing. the woman who checked me out was very nice, and when she asked me for my number and i gave it to her, she said i wasn't in their system and asked if i wanted to join. i said no and she carried on with the checkout, she was very pleasant. here's what i think was the worst part. another woman was starting to check out my grandmother so i stood next to her and when the woman asked for her number, i simply said we weren't in the system to save some time, to which she replied "i wasn't talking to you now was i?" my grandmother didn't hear this belligerent, rude comment. she proceeded to ask my grandmother for all her personal information, address, phone number- without even ASKING if she wanted to be in the system in the first place. when we left the store and i explained what the woman said to me, my grandmother was furious. she wanted to call the store and complain about the woman who spoke to me so rudely, but she wasn't wearing a name tag and at that point i just wanted to go on with my day. when i asked another employee what their return policy was, she half answered "about a week" you don't go shopping to hear furious employees loudly complaining about their job or to be rudely spoken to at a place you're spending hard earned money. this was the absolute worst shopping experience i've ever had. this store really needs to get their sh*t together. read more
