We came here on a rainy day after going to the nearby tulip festival and exploring downtown Holland. All of us were cold, tired, and ready for an afternoon pick-me-up, and Foxtail delivered! I thought $7.15 was a little steep for a small chai, but I did get the seasonal blueberry muffin flavor, so that explains the uncharge. It was tasty! I give our experience only 4 stars because I thought that the service could have been a bit better. The place was extremely crowded, so I give the baristas some sympathy there. However, they messed up the food order of the woman before me, then messed up the order of my friend who ordered behind me. My friend asked for a hot chai but received it cold; then, when she politely showed her receipt and asked for her hot drink, they refused to remake it for her. I would still recommend this place, but I would be wary of going during a busy time of day. read more

We discovered Foxtail while in Grand Rapids and immediately recognized the quality of the coffee (over Starbucks) and enjoyed the laid back vibe. We didn't realize there was a location right in downtown Holland. The photos I included are from the first time we came here and we sat and chilled and enjoyed our Flat White (for me) and Caffe Latte (for my wife). I ALWAYS order my Flat White extra hot because I am not a fan of lukewarm coffee. Well, they got it right our first visit (from the pictures), but today was a miss. Yuck, lukewarm Flat White. Hopefully I can nuke it when I get home and not ruin it. Not enough to keep me from coming back.....yet. Cute place right in downtown. Very busy and loud, staff was very nice, made recommendations and was helpful. The iced matcha we got was awful. First of all they don't actually make the matcha, it comes in bottles and they actually just add "pumps" to your latte. We got a blackberry latte and it was pretty much green blackberry milk, matcha flavor didn't even enter the conversation here. I asked for another scoop or two of matcha and that's when they told me they don't actually mix the matcha powder themselves but they were kind enough to add some more "pumps" to my latte. after the extra pumps It was drinkable but definitely wouldn't recommend matcha here. read more

Foxtail is one of Holland's several downtown coffee joints, and like the others it stays busy and has its regulars. I don't stray from the basic coffee drinks--coffee, an Americano when I want to live on the edge (it's a coffee joint, after all). And those have tasted fine. Service can be hit or miss; on a slow Monday I ordered a splash of cream and got neither the splash nor room to add it myself. Cup lid leaked. Womp womp. (Maybe that's the makings for a bad country song?!) And folks looking for a brightly lit Central Perk from "Friends", with all the big, overstuffed couches will be disappointed. The interior here is darker and sharp-edged and woody. (And to me this seems to clash with the bright colors of the gelato they serve. Hmmm.) You do see folks hang here. Needing coffee after I spent the night at the hospital with my grandma. Got into town from Arizona Monday night at 12am. Didn't sleep well so stopped by foxtail. My little cousin took me and the place was so adorable ! In Arizona we don't have a foxtail, so I was excited to try this place :) My cousin got their ice matcha latte with coconut! Amazing !!! I didn't know what to get because the menu had plenty to choose from . The gal that helped me was name Anna. After she asked my name, I said omg we have the same name! lol even asked wait when's your birthday ? To see if we had matching birthdays as well LOL but we don't. Staff was the sweetest! Came here a few times during a trip to Holland, which was one block away from the Tulyp Hilton hotel we stayed at. The inside is very nicely decorated with a lot of wood details, and plenty of tables inside. Had to wait a bit for order in the morning on a weekday, but coffee drinks are excellent. The croissant I had in the morning was not fresh and had flavors of other pastries near it - may have been a croissant from the day before. Not sure why there is only an average of 3.3 here for the downtown Holland location. Totally legit. Staff was awesome. Super friendly, very professional, on point, efficient. Two dark roast coffees to go and we added our Splenda and then headed back to our hotel. We had tried an alternative coffee house in town that catered to more to what looked like mainly college kids which was great but felt a little frazzled inside so we opted out for Foxtail. I'm so excited about Foxtail Coffee Co opening in downtown Holland. I was very impressed with their level of service and quality of their roasts. If you are a coffee enthusiast, then you will love this new shop. They have your traditional espresso options as well as siphon, pour over, and French press. They have lots of seating with outlets at each table. I have yet to try their gelato, but they had some great looking options. I had their siphon coffee and they were not lying when they said it is the purest way to make coffee. Hands down, best coffee in the area. read more

I love visiting and trying new coffee shops. I live in Grand Rapids and actually love the foxtail near me. However this was not a great experience.... We ordered three drinks all were supposed to be iced. When we got the drinks, only one of them were iced. I understand it's an inconvenience to remake the drink, however the attitude of the staff was far from nice about the mix up. After very nicely asking for them to remake them they set the drinks down and rolled their eyes as they walked away. The flavoring was not even mixed in the drink and stayed at the bottom of my coffee until I mixed it in. Kind staff can make a difference between a poor experience and a great experience. read more

I'm not normally a person to leave reviews, but after my second negative experience, I feel inclined to share. The coffee, atmosphere, and food are all great! However, a staff member named Hailey (not sure if I spelled it right) has been very rude and condescending to me BOTH time I've been there. As a freelance business owner and stay at home mom, I go downtown for coffee often. The other coffee spots like Bowerman's and 205 have exuberant staff that are always inviting and friendly. Very different experience from this place unfortunately, all due to one staff member. My first experience, I was there with my sister and ordered us each an iced latte, one with oat and one with regular milk. When our names were called, we called over (Hailey) to clarify, which was which so we did not get them mixed up and she responded in a strange, condescending tone making us feel like we were asking a really dumb question, but it was our first time there and we just didn't know how they labeled them. We left feeling very off and unwelcome there. My second experience there, I was out with a friend and our toddlers on the way to the park. I ordered a croissant and iced coffee. I heard my name called and walk up to the counter where I see my name on the receipt tab under my croissant bag, and immediately next to my croissant bag was an iced coffee. I grabbed both and sat to wait for my friend. I see (Hailey) and another guest looking over at me with disappointed expressions. I walk over to ask what's going on. She said I took the wrong coffee, again, in a rude condescending tone. Embarrassed, I say "oh I'm so sorry" and explain that I heard my name and grabbed my items. she says it was just for the croissants and not the coffee. She then proceeds you say in a very demeaning tone and matching facial expression.."yeah because you took a coffee..that was on a receipt...that wasn't yours" In front of other guests. Even more embarrassed, I apologize again, hand over the coffee that wasn't mine and sit down to wait for my order. It was an honest mistake and she made me feel like I was a complete idiot in front of everybody. I understand I was in the wrong, but instead of making me feel belittled, a professional would shake it off like it's no problem with a smile on their face and make a new one for the other guest and move right along without making a big deal of it. Very immature and bad hospitality. My friend, sister and I agreed we would not be back and we have shared our experience with many others as well. All this to say, treat everyone with respect. You never know what's going on in someone's life. The least you can do (especially in the hospitality/restaurant business!) is treat others with compassion and kindness. read more

The Coffee is good but the service of the Barista's especially Jade and Hailey is exceptional.

The girl behind the counter said something to the effect of "ugh, now that this guy yapped at the cash register now he's coming to yap at us" under her breath and then looked up and tried to play it off . In my defense I do talk a lot but I try to keep it light and friendly. Still -I didn't go to a coffee shop to get my feelings hurt.Also, I was a regular( went it 2-4 times a week). I hate that I am writing this review but This has now been multiple times stuff like this has happened here. I like the coffee here but I keep getting soooo much attitude from some of the employees. Hailey has been so rude to me multiple times but today I went in and order my coffee and my little boy was with me and she was being very rude and when my son smiled and waved goodbye to her she rolled her eyes and acted irritated.
