AVOID RYAN AT ALL COSTS!!! i love the 205 so so much as a hope college student, and their avocado toast is a godsend. however, i now know to avoid going when ryan is there. he is extremely rude, unkind, and unprofessional. every single time i've seen him, he is either snapping at somebody or complaining about his job to everyone who can hear him (which is crazy because i think he's an owner??). some people are just not meant to have front-facing, customer service jobs and that's okay! he is scatterbrained and will burn your toast, forget you have to pay, and huff & puff when HE has to retype YOUR ORDER because he forgot to take the payment. i stood there with cash in my hands for five minutes after he walked away, to the point where others in the line behind me started laughing at the absurdity of his behavior. he also constantly has an attitude, yells at customers for mundane reasons, and consistently mixes up orders. otherwise the 205 is perfect! it is so upsetting that one person really ruins the place this much. 5 stars for food & ambience, 1 star for ryan... evens out to like 3 stars. read more

Came here right before walking in the Tulip Time parade with my coworkers. I got the berry cupcake and Nutella latte. It hit the spot at the time in that it kept me warm and indoors but neither was especially memorable. I couldn't really taste any Nutella in the latte, though it was still a decent latte overall. The cupcake seemed a little stale, but considering it was gluten-free, it still wasn't bad. Service was quick, and it was a convenient stop before the parade. read more

Super cute coffee shop in Holland, Michigan. Great to stop by right before visiting Veldheer Farm. They have a lot of hanging plants on the ceiling. Their coffee and matcha drinks were flavorful, creative, and the perfect level of sweetness. My friend suggested this coffee shop to me while I was on a little Holland adventure recently. I got a parking spot across the street and was able to sit and get some work done. I was surprised it wasn't very busy, as it was a very bright and welcoming spot. I loved all the plants and natural light. The menu had some really delicious sounding specialty lattes, but I went with a basic oat milk cortado, which is my go-to these days. I sat at the front window on a short and surprisingly comfortable stool. The wifi was free and fast, and my cortado was smooth and delicious. (I do have to note that they did not take my name for my order, just called out my drink, aka my biggest coffee shop pet peeve. But this does not affect my coffee shop ratings!) They have some food options like waffles, but it looked like they only serve those until 1 pm. I also saw a cocktail menu, which was intriguing! I like a good coffee shop/bar combo. Honestly, been eatin this place up. Many coffee shops I go to claim to have "signature lattes" but really it's the same signature lattes as every other boring ahh wanna be third wave coffee shops. Cute and cozy cafe tucked just off of Hope College's campus with AMAZING waffles. Oh my gosh. The lattes were great too but my gosh you need to come here for the waffles. We split a Nutella strawberry and a peanut butter banana waffle and I wish my stomach was big enough to have two full ones to myself. They are decadent but not in an overly sweet way. They balance the spread toppings and fruit well on a fluffy rectangular waffle. Oh, and topped with whip cream of course! We were just in town for the weekend but if we are in Holland again we will definitely come back! read more

The service here was really great. The woman who took my order was so friendly and patient as she helped me find a completely dairy free option. They also had vegan cookies and brownies which I was thrilled to see. I had the gingerbread latte with oat milk and it was perfect for a snowy winter day. We stopped here on our way out of town for a late breakfast. My husband and I generally just opt for the drip coffee and we were not disappointed. The peanut butter banana waffle was a good size for two and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. We also shared the avocado toast, which is pretty hearty for its size. Service was pleasant and efficient. Prices were pretty reasonable for the portion sizes. In our opinion, 205 Coffee Bar is best suited for when you have a little time to sit and enjoy your food and beverage. This is the kind of place I want to pop in on a Saturday morning, and I wasn't alone. 205 was pretty packed with patrons, a good sign. 205 does not brew their own coffee. That comes from Stovetop, who are local and delicious. They also had pastries from DeBoer's (Holland-based) and vegan/gluten-free goodies from Rise Authentic Bakery (Grand Rapids-based). I very much appreciate how 205 values quality vendors and cater to the vegan and gluten-free folx. They have chosen well. The menu has some fun, unique lattes, which always gets bonus points with me. I chose a decaf Vietnamese latte with oat milk. Looking around, I saw many patrons with waffles, and I couldn't resist. I added a savory avocado waffle to my order, curious and excited to try. Even with the busyness, service was pretty speedy with both my drink and waffle. The four stars has to do with the execution of my latte and waffle. The latte was generous with the cinnamon, but I didn't taste the coconut crème nor the sweetened condensed milk. The waffle promised cilantro, but that was either missing or well-hidden. Also, the avocado waffle would have benefited from one more addition, like everything bagel seasoning. Did I enjoy them? Yes. Did it feel like something was missing with both of them? Yes. I'll add 205 into my Holland coffee shop stop rotation, for the good outweighs the missed marks. I hope to try more from the menu and hope to up a star. They have the potential! read more

We came here today and ordered four drinks! The line was a little long, but it moved really quickly. The baristas were also very friendly and were able to get orders out quickly and accurately. Vibe: welcoming, study space. Amazing interior with a fun mix of asymmetrical industrial wood and metal/garage/iron fixtures, with pathos fines growing across the ceiling on chains. Ryan is welcoming and approachable, as I didn't know what I was doing. Very hospitable. Mugs were this burnished blue pottery with a great hand fill. OUR FAVORITE SPOT from our trip! Our coffee was delicious, we got the creme brulatte. I would drive 2 hours back to Holland from Chicago everyday if possible just for that coffee. Our waffles (strawberry nutella + peanut butter) hit the spot for a light breakfast before walking around downtown holland & having lunch elsewhere. The inside of the cafe was peaceful. We stopped in for a cup of coffee after checking out the Saturday morning farmers market and loved this spot. I love how the windows open up to create "more space" for those lovely warm days. Friendly! Clean! It's a nice coffee café. Limited menu items, as it's a coffee bar, not a Waffle House. The waffles they make are creative and specialty. Only one savory item on the menu; avocado toast. I'm generally not a fan, but it was my only choice, and it was well prepared. I would definitely order this again. My partner loved the Nutella waffle. Latte and Mocha were both very good. The atmosphere gets a 4 star due to the lack of seating for clientele coming in with toddlers (high top seating), and the music was just a little too loud. There are no prices on the boards for any of the beverages or food. If you don't like that, you may turn around. Our morning visit was $33.00. That is not over the top, but when you don't see prices and you are presented a total, it takes you back for a moment. read more

My sister and I were in Holland and decided to stop by for coffee. The interior is so cute! I love the fresh plants and I really appreciated the ample amount of seating and outlets, which is something I wish more coffee shops had. The staff is super friendly as well and are more than happy to answer any questions you might have about the menu. They have a variety of drinks as well as a food menu! I ordered a Vietnamese latte (espresso shot, vanilla, condensed milk, coconut cream, and cinnamon) while my sister ordered a creme brulatte! Both of them were okay. I was hoping that the Vietnamese latte would be stronger like Vietnamese coffee usually is, but it just tasted like a cinnamon latte. It is a bit loud as well in the coffee shop, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I found myself yelling over the music and chatter to talk to my sister. Overall, it's a cute cafe with decent drinks. If I'm back in Holland, I'll have to give them a try again, especially their waffles (they look so delicious)! read more

We walked her from our hotel the courtyard Marriott! Cute outside with mural and inside it is well decorated, lots of seating and plants hanging from the ceiling. You go up to the counter and order food and drinks. We had the Nutella strawberry waffle which was amazing! Big enough to share between two people. The food will be brought to you and you will have a number sign that they take from you. You get your own silverware but easy to find!
