They roast single origin coffees onsite and sell them in completely biodegradable pods, which only stay on their shelves for up to 30 days so the coffee always tastes super fresh. They are not like other biodegradable pods you may see for sale elsewhere, these actually ensure you get a fantastic cup of coffee each time. I started talking to the baristas, Lisa and Anastasia, and shared that I used to work for Starbucks and was amazed how the same coffee could taste completely different if it was prepared differently. Lisa promptly took out two bags of coffee and prepared a pour over of each. They were the same beans, but roasted at different temperatures. She gave tastes to me and another customer. It was amazing how different the coffees tasted, and they even had different colors. It was such a cool experience! I bought a box of Columbia medium roast pods, which I've been enjoying every day this week. They have several coffees available to try, along with pastries and made to order sandwiches. It's located in an industrial area, off the main road, but is well worth the trip if you're looking for some delicious coffee. It's become my go to coffee roaster in the Richmond area.

I heard their cold brew was phenomenal so I had to try it. You can buy it by the 6 pack at the distributor or single at the local coffee shops that serve their coffee such as Chair Lift in Richmond. Their cold brew was mild and delicious and doesn't leave you wired like other places! Just very good flavor. Every Friday at 10:30am they do public cupping sessions, which I recommend! If you are looking for the best locally roasted coffee with the roast date on the bag [not the best used by date, this is important!], look no further. You can ask them to bag for you something they've roasted recently and just like that, freshly roasted full beans. I have bought dozens of bags of roasted beans from Ricks - there is nothing better than these beans in the grinder first thing in the morning/afternoon/evening/night.

There's a huge opportunity for expansion in the Queen City!). And top all that off with sublime, informed, and incredibly friendly front of house staff. Yeah, it's a little hard to find, but anything worth having is worth looking for.
