Examination was thorough. However, they are way over priced. If you are like me, retired and on a budget, this is definitely not the place to go. I have been a patient for over 30 years. I've been a patient of Dr. Foyle for about 5-6 years now since I needed prescription glasses. I've always had a stress-free, relaxed experience at my comprehensive annual eye exams. I've also bought several pair of glasses using my insurance with no paperwork hassles. I am also a Costco member, but receive greater benefit and savings using Dr. Foyle's boutique, convenient Solana Beach office. Today I took advantage of a convenient Saturday appointment! The staff is friendly, professional, and knowledgeable! Don't delay, just call and make the appointment! You won't regret coming to Dr. Michael Foyle! Update: my wife now uses prescription glasses and wanted contact lenses. She's very independent and went to Costco first. Costco optometrist told her she's not a candidate for contact lenses. Determined to get contacts, she finally agreed to go to my optometrist, Dr. Foyle. She had a pleasant exam appointment which was for more comprehensive and less money than Costco offered. Value! My wife took several weeks to find her correct prescription that she was FINALLY comfortable with! The staff was never impatient with her! Bottom line, do yourself a favor. If you live within a two hour drive go see Dr. Foyle and his staff! read more

He is state of the art and I have never been disappointed with his service. He, like me is at retirement age so get in to see him wile you still have a chance. read more

I have been going to Dr. Foyle for several years. Recently I needed to order contacts online due to COVID-19. First I tried calling Dr. Foyle to order contacts. I did get a returned call and VM from them 1x. I called back that same day and then every day for a week with no call back, so I decided to order online. When the online company called to verify my Rx, they were told that my Rx is expired, which it is not, so my order was cancelled. Dr. Foyle's office never bothered to call and tell me they were cancelling my order with the online company, and they lied about my Rx being expired. It's a 2 year Rx, not a 1 year. I had made a request for the 2 year when I last saw Dr. Foyle in October of 2018. The customer service in this experience has been terrible and obviously unethical beyond belief. I do NOT recommend these people, unless you want to get screwed over. read more

I went to get glasses on Saturday, December 28th. I called many times to find out if they were still holding their Saturday hours because of the Holidays. The only message I received was that they were busy with patients or out to lunch, no notice of change of posted hours for the holiday or for any other reason. I spent one-half hour trying to find their shop and when I finally found it it was closed before the posted closing hour. I wasted about one and a half hours on this pointless trip. it would have been much more courteous if their message had communicated that their hours were changed for that day. read more

I wouldn't recommend this optometrist to anyone. I happily made an appointment for a long overdue eye appointment a couple of months ago and, unfortunately, was exposed to covid 19 at my job and had to cancel that appointment twice; once upon my initial diagnosis and again when I was still experiencing symptoms a week after my first cancellation. I called back this week and was overjoyed to get an appointment for the same week, only to have his office call me back and tell me he is retiring. I couldn't make an appointment anywhere else because his staff held onto my insurance information, so I called back and asked them to take me out of the system and was spoken to in a very angry tone and told that I had "cancelled too many times." Would they have rather I gone in with covid 19? I had a weird feeling about it, so I had a couple of friends call in and make appointments with his office - all successfully. Then they asked whether or not Dr. Foyle was retiring. The secretary at his desk immediately got very obviously flustered over the phone and announced that he was retiring.....because....he was changing locations! I wasn't aware that you needed to retire each time you changed locations. Very unprofessional on their part. I am experiencing diabetic retinopathy symptoms and nowhere in San Diego am I able to find an appointment within the next month. This is medical negligence and discrimination, and I'm considering bringing it to the attention of my insurance company and filing a formal complaint. I work in the medical field and clear vision is imperative to me. I treat all my patients with dignity and respect and understand that life happens and I expect honesty and compassion from all who practice and work within the field in any capacity at the very least. If you're looking for an eye doctor with an honest and professional staff that won't screw you over, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere! read more
