I have been…read morea loyal member for several years, and this place has always been convenient and one of my favorites. However, I recently encountered a shocking situation. After a long break, I decided to come back and invited my friends to join me. One of them had an active membership, while the other did not. The friend who had a membership agreed to work out with us and guide us, even though she is not a professional trainer, just our friend. When I brought my other friend who was interested in becoming a member and joining me regularly, she was not allowed to enter because she had not registered online, and there was no one available on-site to assist her. This was despite the fact that she had a guest pass from me. We tried to resolve the situation on the spot, but instead of showing understanding, the receptionist -- a young Spanish-speaking woman of average height with long black hair, who appeared to be new and unfamiliar with me -- behaved very rudely. She refused to help, delayed us with the registration process, and made everything unnecessarily complicated instead of assisting my friend in becoming a member. This resulted in a very unpleasant experience for us. Moreover, the following day, I was denied access to my regular Zumba class with a different instructor, despite being a long-time member. The reason given was that the previous day we had worked out with our friend who was guiding us. I was extremely upset, and the situation escalated to the point where the police were called to make me leave the gym. This humiliating experience put me in a very uncomfortable and embarrassing position. I am deeply disappointed. If anything like this happens again, I am prepared to pursue legal action, as this situation is unacceptable and has left a very negative impression on me. If I do not receive a formal apology, they will lose three loyal clients, as well as future potential clients I was planning to bring with me.

At $40 a month or so this membership includes classes, the option for personal training sessions, showers (with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash), combination lockers, towel service, and even those Peloton bikes. Cool is a theme here. Seen as a Equinox-light version, it is located on the lower level between the 2029 and 2049 buildings adjacent from the Starbucks, Trimana, and Mickey Fine. I have enjoyed being a member, and the appeal that it is open 24/7. While this doesn't serve as my main gym, I think it is a comfy option that is far better than the poorly-ventilated David Barton's that was across the street. At the same time, this gym isn't really busy except after work and because it's membership is limited. They have state of the art equipment including those Peloton bikes, and 2 types of treadmills. Weights are minimal, but all the basics and a little more are there. It's a good small gym but the question has become whether to use a close-to-home gym or this one. It certainly will likely be nice, unless opt to pay over $200 for an Equinox membership or don't mind a place with a little drab.

They even have a Brazilian jujitsu studio next to the main workout area. I really like how open this space is. It's clean and both self contained and spacious at the same time. They also have this really cool indoor-outdoor concept where some of the group classes are held in the back patio. Megan did a great job offering corrections during yoga sculpt without being invasive or aggressive. For my disabled friends, the women's bathroom has an accessible shower with a built-in seat and railing. I imagine the men's bathroom has one too.

The problem in LA when you're looking for a gym is: 1. The gyms in your vicinity are corporate owned and the clients range from disrespectful to arrogant, or all of the above. 2. The gyms have quality control issues, unhygienic, and unmaintained equipment and/or facilities 3. Charge exorbitant rates for basic elements every gym should have (high price = absolute bellend customers who wish they could be at the Bezos wedding). This gym takes care of all three of those and then some. Having met and chatted with Dakota, Eric, Grace, and Brett (some of the gym's amazing staff), if the facilities don't convince you this is the most well balanced, INDEPENDENTLY OWNED gym in LA, these guys certainly will. They are so bloody friendly and make the atmosphere feel great. To your continued success and expansion GymTonic
