I come here because the location is convenient, but they are always busy even when there aren't a lot of customers in the bakery. This is surprising given that the last two times I ordered something ahead of time it was not taken care of. If they aren't helping people at the front or taking care of orders in the back, then what are they doing? The first time I made an order for my moms birthday an entire day ahead of time but when we got there to pick it up nobody knew what we were talking about and they couldn't even fill the order on the spot because it was a special pastry. Maybe that's worth mentioning on the phone when the order is taken? The second time I ordered ahead, I asked for it to be ready by 7 and they said no problem- I get there at 7:15 and they still didn't have it ready. Ok fine. They asked me to wait 5 minutes, also fine. But then they never checked in with me or told me the status of my order. 7:25 came around and I couldn't even find the original person who helped me. I think I'm giving up on this place. I can't take another broken promise and huge disappointment. If you don't have a grueling history with the bakery I would say give them a shot, but don't expect too much from them. BIG TIP: don't forget to take names when you order, and maybe make a couple of follow up calls to confirm that they actually took the order and filled it. read more

I came here for some lunch with my husband and 2 kids after my husband raves about their sandwiches. I absolutely loveddd their octopus sandwich, so fresh and tasty. I'm very picky with my food especially seafood but this was amazing. They also have a little coffee section and of course their bakery section as well. I had been to this bakery once or twice in the past but was never a regular because of the distance from my house. The food was always great. This review is based solely on my most recent expe rice which was my wedding cake from May. The cake was included with our wedding package from the fox hollow. We booked our tasting and upon walking in the bakery the smell was just incredible! They seated us at a table and a woman brought over a sample of cakes and explained each one. They were all delicious and we ended up going with simple vanilla with cannoli cream (amazing). She then thoroughly explained what was included in our package from the fox hollow, and gave us a binder of pictures. She also informed us what would be extras. We chose a beautiful design that ended up being no extra charges- great! Well just days before our wedding was the horrible fire that burnt down the bakery. I won't lie, we were a little worried at first; but we were quickly reassured everything would be okay. The staff were so amazing and they made sure to update us every step of the way. Not only was our cake made exactly how we wanted, they also through in a bunch of free cookies and desserts for the "stress" they caused us! I could not believe it! Even in their worst time, they were still thinking about us and putting us before them. Francesco even called us the day after the wedding to make sure everything was okay! Francesco's, we are so disappointed Our family has grown up loving your bakery and it has be a long standing tradition to visit and get our favorites when we visit home. So, now that we are living in Wisconsin, it was decided by our kiddos that we should splurge and order from thier Dad's favorite bakery for his birthday to be sent over. It was packaged very well. However, despite spending $85 + we got a tiny tin of cookies and lemon cookies that look like someone took a bite out of it. There was no broken pieces in the box of lemon cookies to suggest it broke in the shipment either.Not only that, I actually called and spoke with someone about what day to order it so that it would not arrive before today as we were out of town. She told me what day to order it and said to leave instructions in the order form, explaining what I was doing. The butter cookie tin cookies were broken, and incredibly, massively stale; literally disintegrating if you touched them. One worker said she was "working on it" and we waited patiently for a resolution. We've been told that she left. Since then, any time we call, we are told that they will take a message and get back to us. As of today, they just transfer/drop me into a voice mail. Run, don't walk, away from this place, especially if ordering online. Heaven help anyone who considers them for an event. So sad that it's not the same Francesco's we used to enjoy. read more

Never heard or tried Francesco's before. A coworker brought in a pie that tasted delicious. She didn't know which one it was because her daughters bought a bunch. After tasting and googling I researched the pie and it was a Grain pie. Wow oh wow! I never had a grain pie before and truthfully I wouldn't have tasted this pie knowing what's in it. It's candied fruits like a fruit cake. I hate fruit cake but the pie is NOTHING like a fruit cake taste. It has a sweet custardy cheese cake taste. I'm so glad I tasted it. I used Francesco's Bakery for my wedding cake since they are partners with Chateau Briand (my wedding venue). I gave them two visits, and the first time it was to sample taste all of their cake flavors. Pricing: basic designs such as color is free but any add-ons were a cost. Some flavors (like nutella that we picked) were also extra by tier, lower the tier the more expensive. We paid for some 3D flowers on the bottom to match our theme. You can skip cake designs by adding on flowers. Important notes: Get your own cake topper, I got a customized one from Etsy. They do not provide or put on flowers on for you. You would have to get it from your own florist. I asked my friend to pick up a small boutonniere ($10) from a local florist and asked her to place it on the cake, which worked perfectly! Your wedding florist could probably do it for you if it covers more of the cake also but at a cost. I did take one star off because I was a tad bit disappointed at the blue color on the bottom tier since our theme was dusty blue and not the bright baby blue which I heavily emphasized. The worst bakery I have EVER delt with. UNREAL- they were the cake vendor with fox hollow for my wedding cake. I got the completely wrong cake. Thank god we don't have any allergies- I've called half a dozen times and gone in (mind you I live 40 minutes away.) and they don't call back. I paid $100 for crystals on my cake I didn't get. The women I spoke to on the phone was NASTY. Telling me she would look into it & call me back to have an "intelligent conversation" not to mention the week of my wedding I get a call from the women in charge of the wedding cakes (from her cellphone) that they need me to text them a photo of my recpiet with my order. This is unreal and I will make sure to tell each & every person who will listen to not use them. I can't believe that this bakery has such a low rating!! We chose Francesco's (943 N Broadway North Massapequa, NY 11758) to make our wedding cake. We had to set an appointment for cake tasting. Once we arrived, we were provided with several samples of cakes and flavors. The tasting was so much fun and we wanted just about all of them but we decided on three different flavors. The cake arrived on time and was a smash hit throughout the venue. Another beautiful thing about Francesco's is... they told us if we stayed married for a year that for our first anniversary we could come back to get a special cake made just for us free of charge. Amazing!! So it's been a year and we just picked up our anniversary cake. The girls were so sweet and wouldn't even take a tip. I had to pay a Shiva call this past Monday night and realized that my favorite bakery is closed on that day. Francesco's is very close to where I work and they happened to be open so it worked out perfectly. They are an Italian-American bakery, but mostly all the bakery items that I have purchased from Francesco's in the past have been Italian. Unfortunately, being that my friend was Jewish, I felt that I should go the American route this time. I think Apple Pie is as American as you can get and luckily they had some left. I asked that one be put aside for me just in case. All I can say is thank G-d my friend is not Kosher!! All the Italian bakery items I have purchased here have always been delicious. The Rainbow Cookies are made with a very thin layer of jelly and are so moist, they are devoured in my house. The Cannoli's are incredible and the cream fills the entire Cannoli shell - no hollow middles. Nothing worse than paying for a Cannoli and wind up only getting half of one. Francesco's also makes an 8" square Tiramisu cake which is probably one of the best I have ever had. The cost is $21.00 and worth every penny. Now, getting back to the Apple Pie. It was OK, but considering how exceptional everything else has been, it left me feeling a little disappointed. No shortage of apples which was not the problem. The apples were hard, the flavor was good and the crust was doughy and dry. But, some people at my friends house must have thought it was really good because a few went back for seconds and I couldn't even finish my first piece. So, go figure that one!! Would I buy another Apple Pie from Francesco's, no. Would I go back to Francesco's for my Italian bakery items, absolutely!! They have never let me down before. We are happy to announce that we have entered into contract with Francesco's bakery to design my daughters sweet sixteen cake. We had a meeting with the sales person today for about 1hr, to talk about our vision and expectations of the cake design. They brought out a 12 samples of cakes individual pieces. For us to taste different flavors, cake textures and combinations of different cake flavors. It was great to have a book with basic samples of the cake designs just with no decoration and then we had an ipad with photos of actual cakes for different sweet sixteen events they have customized cakes for. So for now we are good to go on the ordering of the cake, we picked the french cream with fresh strawberries on vanilla sponge cake with a layer of chocolate cake with chocolate mousse. We did have to work out small details such as the color ribbon for the cake which we are providing for the baker to assemble on to the cake. They made it really difficult easy to work and they are a preferred vendor for Leonards Palazzo which is where we are having my daughters sweet sixteen. Cake delievered to us 12/8 at leonards palazzo. Great looking cake, chocolate and vanilla cake with fresh strawberry filling. Pretty good tasting cake. Although the chocolate cake was a bit dry, the vanilla cake was very moist. Seems like they missed a few spots on this cake. read more

Classic Italian bakery ... this Hicksville location is one of their flagship stores. Apparently so popular, there are a chain of locations on Long Island. Reminds me of my old Brooklyn neighborhood joints in Bayridge. Each cannoli cream filled dessert was excellent. Fresh cream and tiny chocolate chips. I loved everything I bought (assorted mini desserts), they were smaller versions of their larger sliced desserts and cakes. A must try, the mini chocolate cheesecake cups. I am also a custard lover so the custard cups were a definite favorite. I can't enough about the mini napoleon. Oh next time I'm coming back for the full sized single serve piece! The two slivers I had was just not enough. The layers of pastry were crispy and held up well with the creamy layers in between. The top icing was a sweet and rich vanilla and chocolate drizzle. All of the pastries held well ... I hate it when flaky desserts don't stand up well after being refrigerated and just as bad if the filling over powers the pastry layers. This is not a problem here. I will definitely go back or try one of their many other locations to sample more yummy goods. Believe me, it was so hard to choose. read more

Came here yesterday for a birthday cake, decided to get the cheesecake since it's a family favorite. Loved that they had a strawberry cheesecake option. The cheesecake was so rich and creamy, absolutely delicious. Just know that you might have to specifically ask to add a cookie to get "happy birthday" written on the back of it (they don't have Happy Birthday signs or anything). The one thing I didn't like is that when we cut into the cake, there was parchment paper hidden underneath so if you are not paying attention, you might bite into a piece of parchment paper. I tried to give this place another shot, but it really just doesn't do it for me. I ordered a cake and when I went to pick it up, they couldn't find it. They asked me if it could be under any other name or even a business. Basically any question they could think of because they couldn't find the cake. "Luckily" there was the same cake i ordered in the case, so they just wrote on top of it and after they rang me up, they found my cake... My fears were confirmed when I finally had the cake. I wasn't thrilled about the cake in the case as I was pretty sure it was not fresh and the cake that I preordered had a better chance of being freshly baked. The oreo cake tasted old - the oreos on top were soggy and the cake had a fridge taste. The cake itself just wasn't that good. The cream was so heavy and hard and there was so much of it, I was left with a plate of cream. Two slices of the cake were served and the rest of it was tossed. I've been here a couple times to grab pastries for parties, but after this experience, I refuse. We paid an additional 400$ I believe to have the cake be customized to our liking. All of the tiers were supposed to have a different pattern on them. The ornaments were supposed to be silver. After visiting almost every wedding cake shop from high to low , we were being quoted around 3-5k for our 6 tier custom cake. I was so annoyed with the process, it was like screw it just pay it money and get it over with. After we spoke with our cater and the venue, they recommended this shop to us as one of their partners. After a brief visit and a last minute appointment, we sat with Giancarlo to go over our over the top custom cake. He not only ensured us that it will look exactly like the picture, and also blew us away with the pricing! For $1500 it was nuts!! (We had a lot of pipping work and flowers) I quickly paid the full amount and awaited our wedding day. When the time came, the cake arrived at exactly the time it was promised and in perfect condition. It also tasted amazing!!! We recently even had our daughter 100 day custom cake made here as well.
