I started coming here in June 2018 and I go to Joslyne! She's amazing!! I leave extremely happy every single time! I was recommended to Francine's Beauty Bar and just happen to sit in Joslyne's chair. I'm glad I made that decision. I've been a happy person since. Of course the long long wait can be so stressful that's one reason I don't frequent any hair salon often. I don't have the patience for the long wait time especially when you have a long day ahead of you. Anyways, I recommend going to her she's great. She loves to cut and she styles really well. Her niece helps prep all her clients and she's nice too. Overall they always have the good tunes playing and everyone is very friendly. It's not loud and you don't hear anyone cursing or acting boisterous in the salon. They are super professional. One thing I love about Joslyne is the fact that she takes Venmo or Cashapp too! So easy and reliable! Love going to her! She's great!!! I can't stress that enough. She colors, cuts, styles, she does everything! If she can't do it I'm sure she'll tell you, but definitely speak up and voice your opinion if something doesn't look the way you envisioned it. I've had the worse hair struggles moving from a state where my mother was my own hair stylist so I'm glad to finally find someone who has the magic touch!! DID I MENTION I RECOMMEND!!

Sarah made my wedding day her top priority.

I am so happy to have finally located a true beauty bar. More importantly there is someone specializing in wigs at this location! Finally...a beautician who arrives before me and gets me in and out so I can go on with my plans for the day.

I called and got an appointment which was great! I went in for a silk press, deep condition, and trim and it came out nice despite getting burned a couple times. It lasted about a few days of straight/flowing and usually when I get a silk press, it will last over a week. It all went down hill when I washed my hair and a section of my curly 4c natural hair was COMPLETELY STRAIGHT! I won't be coming back here. Very disappointed.

Trina styled my hair. I absolutely loved it. I'm looking forward to my next appointment.

Most relaxing nail appointment I've ever had! I did not once feel the stressful -get in & get out-…read morehustle that I've always experienced at nail salons. This place was beautiful, calm, clean, and super friendly. Ken did exactly what I asked for, and the other staff all seemed just as great. I will definitely be back!

I was a customer for about 5 months. No problem with dip powder until I decided to try the gel set…read morecalled "Tiana Collection" As Ken started the set, I noticed a burning sensation after the 2nd nail was done. I let him know it was burning and suggested he lower the UV light that he used to set the gel. He mentioned that the light only had 1 setting and that he couldn't change it. As he continued, I suggested to move the heated UV lamp further away from my nail bed as the temperature and position he had it in was burning my nail bed. I mentioned this as a reminder several times. When I got home that evening, I had to take Tylenol and add ice to my nails to sooth the burning sensation. At this point, I was concerned because the burning radiated from my fingers up my arms. Went the at shop opened, I contacted Ken to let him know what happened. He had me come in to remove the gel. I also asked for compensation, at least a percentage of my money back or have him do dip set later. Jennifer told me they took the gel set off, and took time doing my nails, so there was no compensation or refund of any kind. I suggested to file an insurance claim as this was an injury due to a product they provided. She told me insurance will not pay for it and she didn't see whether I deserved a refund. I have never experienced this sort of hospitality or service at any nail salon. I came here as a referral from a coworker. While still getting familiar with this area, I thought this place would offer great service. If you are thinking of getting nails done at here, be aware because it's not about customer service it's more about money for them. I always wondered why fee for services changed often when I got the same thing each time. Hidden fees no consideration for how they treat their customers. Deluxe pedi and gel with 2 horrible nail designs totaled - $145 and still burning from lamp. Go someplace else. UPDATE: Several hours later, Jennifer, the owner, left me a voicemail asking me to call her back. I returned the call believing she might offer an apology, discount, or some form of resolution. Instead, the conversation focused on my review and why I had posted it. She reiterated that because I chose the service, I was not entitled to any compensation. When I suggested continuing the discussion after she finished with her customer, she declined and continued explaining why she would not provide a refund, discount, or credit. This entire experience was disappointing. Mistakes and adverse reactions can happen, but what stood out to me was being told, "I'm not going to argue with you," when I was simply expressing surprise and concern about what had happened. I was not arguing at all, and the comment felt dismissive. I was left wondering whether I was being treated differently, possibly because I am an African American woman. Regardless of the reason, I did not feel heard or respected during the conversation. Reactions can happen, but how a business responds to a customer who has been injured or harmed by a service says a lot about its values. Unfortunately, I felt dismissed, blamed, and left without any Potential customers should be aware of my experience and make their own informed decision. Wow

It shouldn't be this hard to get, and keep my nails done…read more Most of the nail technicians in here are (artistically) talented, however it's SO HARD to make an appointment. I have shared my concerns with the owner and asked her to implement an online scheduling system. She expressed reservations due to the fact that customers may not know what they want, booking one service online and then coming in expecting another. It's a shame to have such a valuable and sought-after product, but simultaneously making it so difficult for customers to get their hands on that product. Booking an appointment has become somewhat of a guessing game. I give them a date and a time of my desired appointment. They tell me that my preferred nail tech is not available, but NEVER say UNTIL WHEN. So I throw out another date. Same thing: Not available. On and on it goes. Instead of providing me with options (namely, telling me the next available date for my preferred nail tech, or other nail techs who have availability at that same day and time), they repeat what they don't have available, or ask me to blindly pick another nail tech that I've never worked with (I don't even know their names because I've never worked with them, so how can I be expected to pick them?). So I'm expected to be both psychic and memorize the roster of the staff here... Just to get an appointment?! In order to book appointments I had to call multiple times over multiple days until someone was able to give me enough information to book an appointment, reach out to the owner on Instagram, and even drive all the way to the nail salon.... JUST TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. I tried to make an appointment prior to the holidays before everything got booked up. Myself and another customer stood in line for at least 20 minutes in a practically empty nail salon while the owner's mother did someone's nails before she finally addressed us. Even then, she only handed us a register paper and told us to write down what services we wanted and when we wanted to come in, telling us that someone would call us to confirm (which never happened, by the way). We could have saved a lot of time if she had just asked us to do that and leave the paper on the counter while she finished her customer. After waiting 3 days, I finally called the salon and was told that they did not have my appointment request. Not surprising, given that it was scribbled on a piece of receipt paper that was given to me. Somebody probably threw away thinking that it was trash without following up. I tried to book my next two appointments to avoid this headache and was told that in order to book an appointment with my preferred nail tech, I now have to follow her on social media and DM her to try to book an appointment with her there. REALLY?! Instead of scraps of paper, or having to stalk somebody on Instagram, why not keep an old school appointment book, or even one online? It's really not that hard. These nail techs are also not great with time management. Many of my appointments have had to be rescheduled... For the middle of my work day. (Thank goodness for remote work) One of the (now former) nail techs completely forgot about my appointment and passed me off to somebody else without even acknowledging me or her oversight. Another nail tech pressured me into making an appointment earlier than I wanted, only for her to show up 45 minutes after the appointed time. No phone call, no update, no communication whatsoever. Just me sitting there wondering if this was another canceled appointment that they forgot to communicate to me. I say "another" because I had an appointment with the same technician that she canceled, but the salon did not leave me a message to let me know. The only way I found out is because I wanted to add something onto my existing appointment and when I called the salon, I was told that I no longer had an appointment because that person decided not to work that day. In addition to horrendous time management and the hoops you have to jump through to get an appointment, the nail retention is also poor... And ultimately that's why I chose to get my services done elsewhere. Like I said, artistically some of these nail techs do a good job, but in terms of actual quality of work... Not so much. I tried to make it work, because finding a new nail salon can be a pain. However, I started experiencing substantial lifting of my nails after practically every appointment. At one point, I even developed nail fungus under my acrylic, which one of the nail techs ignored completely and just covered with acrylic, and another who tried to tell me "That's not nail fungus, it's bacteria". Whatever it is, it's not supposed to be under my nails... And it wouldn't be if the work was done correctly. Aesthetically, this is one of the nicer looking nail salons in the area, but looks are deceiving. This salon presents a lot of challenges from a booking, customer service, and quality of work perspective.

Good pics on Yelp, poor communication and treatment/ hospitality…read more. I called to schedule an appointment to ensure they had time for me and they answered yes. I walked in, was rushed to pick a color instead of greeted. Said I could grab some water, which was nice. The mumbling in Viet started as soon as I sat down, could really make you feel out of place. (Just because someone doesn't know the language doesn't mean they don't hear the tone and can pick up on context.) Cut me twice, apologized, and a couple other hiccups that I won't bother to mention. She lightened up throughout time, but I may have to give it a second thought before going again.. I still tipped well because the actual nails came out good. (My total ~$96.00)Not to my like, as she was not easy to tell what I wanted done. Lady came in right to the end of my service with an appointment, and needed to get acetone removed from her hands that lady doing my nails had wrapped in foil and said, "excuse me- can you--" (I'm sure her hands were either hurting or were uncomfortable), and lady doing my nails interrupted her loudly in front of the whole salon, to say she's almost done with me. I felt terrible for her since she had an appointment on top of that. The fact that there's a lot of competitors for you (Nova nails) should push you to improve in timing and care with how you talk to clients and be careful about what you say you can and can not do for a service. I'm still looking for a place that is both well at communicating with clients, and has the skill set for an awesome set. Please remember to treat people kindly. How you make someone feel is really important.

My nail tech, Lupe, is the absolute sweetest. We always catch up and laugh ("keke") whenever I'm in her chair, and she's the only person I trust with my feet. Seriously... nobody does my pedicures like Lupe. They recently moved into a new building, and it's beautiful. They're still putting the finishing touches on the renovations, but it's already a huge upgrade. One thing I especially love is that they have private service areas for clients like me who prefer a quieter, more relaxing experience instead of sitting in the middle of a crowded salon. This is my definition of self-care: sinking into one of their plush massage chairs, sipping on a mimosa, enjoying a piece of chocolate, and letting Lupe work her magic. Yes, they're a little pricier than some of the competition, but you get what you pay for. I was at another salon recently for over four hours and wasn't even offered a bottle of water. Furthermore, if you are seeking a dipping powder service, I would advise requesting a different technician, as Aaliyah seemed to strongly encourage a gel builder instead. However, I maintained my preference, as I believe a service should always prioritize the client's wishes rather than the technician's convenience or potential upselling. Despite this experience, I do plan to return to the salon. I will, however, be much more discerning when selecting my nail technician next time. I observed other technicians who appeared very attentive and engaged with their clients, rather than being preoccupied with their phones. In summary, my one-star rating is specifically for Aaliyah's service. However, I would give the salon's overall ambiance, atmosphere, and the owners four stars. Four stars because I found the music selection to be somewhat inappropriate. I would suggest considering music with more family-friendly lyrics, particularly given the presence of younger patrons. Otherwise, I will be returning for the positive aspects of the salon.

Located in Capital Heights, at my first appointment, it was kind of hard to spot. Be aware of the parking, as some of the spots are assigned. Upon walking in, use the door on the right to access the nail salon. Appointments are made online, and Tenecia prefers that appointments are made at the half hour only. No problems there. Nice selection of colors to choose from, and the place is clean. I noticed that Tenecia takes the time to clean the bowl in between clients, which I totally dig. Also, she uses new new tools, like emery boards, and buffers for each person. My first appointment was a gel mani (with designs of course) and a pedi. Let me tell you, it was one of thee best pedicures that I have EVER had. She is absolutely excellent at what she does. I loved the gel manicure as well, because she actually does a manicure; you know soaks the hands, trims the cuticles, massage, and the like. She totally takes her time. My nails were shaped beautifully, and they actually grew! Woop! My only issue, is that my mani didn't last as long as I would have expected, but that could totally be me, because I'm super hard on my nails. Also I wasn't positive as to how to book nail designs, but Tenicia explained with no problem and now I know what to do when scheduling. Even with this, she was still able to accommodate me within my appointment time. I really appreciated that. I read a few reviews about Tenicia's attitude, but I didn't have an issue.
