Good pics on Yelp, poor communication and treatment/ hospitality.. I called to schedule an appointment to ensure they had time for me and they answered yes. I walked in, was rushed to pick a color instead of greeted. Said I could grab some water, which was nice. The mumbling in Viet started as soon as I sat down, could really make you feel out of place. (Just because someone doesn't know the language doesn't mean they don't hear the tone and can pick up on context.) Cut me twice, apologized, and a couple other hiccups that I won't bother to mention. She lightened up throughout time, but I may have to give it a second thought before going again.. I still tipped well because the actual nails came out good. (My total ~$96.00)Not to my like, as she was not easy to tell what I wanted done. Lady came in right to the end of my service with an appointment, and needed to get acetone removed from her hands that lady doing my nails had wrapped in foil and said, "excuse me- can you--" (I'm sure her hands were either hurting or were uncomfortable), and lady doing my nails interrupted her loudly in front of the whole salon, to say she's almost done with me. I felt terrible for her since she had an appointment on top of that. The fact that there's a lot of competitors for you (Nova nails) should push you to improve in timing and care with how you talk to clients and be careful about what you say you can and can not do for a service. I'm still looking for a place that is both well at communicating with clients, and has the skill set for an awesome set. Please remember to treat people kindly. It shouldn't be this hard to get, and keep my nails done. Most of the nail technicians in here are (artistically) talented, however it's SO HARD to make an appointment. I have shared my concerns with the owner and asked her to implement an online scheduling system. She expressed reservations due to the fact that customers may not know what they want, booking one service online and then coming in expecting another. It's a shame to have such a valuable and sought-after product, but simultaneously making it so difficult for customers to get their hands on that product. Booking an appointment has become somewhat of a guessing game. I give them a date and a time of my desired appointment. They tell me that my preferred nail tech is not available, but NEVER say UNTIL WHEN. So I throw out another date. Same thing: Not available. On and on it goes. Instead of providing me with options (namely, telling me the next available date for my preferred nail tech, or other nail techs who have availability at that same day and time), they repeat what they don't have available, or ask me to blindly pick another nail tech that I've never worked with (I don't even know their names because I've never worked with them, so how can I be expected to pick them?). So I'm expected to be both psychic and memorize the roster of the staff here... Just to get an appointment?! In order to book appointments I had to call multiple times over multiple days until someone was able to give me enough information to book an appointment, reach out to the owner on Instagram, and even drive all the way to the nail salon.... JUST TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. I tried to make an appointment prior to the holidays before everything got booked up. Myself and another customer stood in line for at least 20 minutes in a practically empty nail salon while the owner's mother did someone's nails before she finally addressed us. Even then, she only handed us a register paper and told us to write down what services we wanted and when we wanted to come in, telling us that someone would call us to confirm (which never happened, by the way). We could have saved a lot of time if she had just asked us to do that and leave the paper on the counter while she finished her customer. After waiting 3 days, I finally called the salon and was told that they did not have my appointment request. Not surprising, given that it was scribbled on a piece of receipt paper that was given to me. Somebody probably threw away thinking that it was trash without following up. I tried to book my next two appointments to avoid this headache and was told that in order to book an appointment with my preferred nail tech, I now have to follow her on social media and DM her to try to book an appointment with her there. REALLY?! Instead of scraps of paper, or having to stalk somebody on Instagram, why not keep an old school appointment book, or even one online? It's really not that hard. These nail techs are also not great with time management. Many of my appointments have had to be rescheduled... For the middle of my work day. (Thank goodness for remote work) One of the (now former) nail techs completely forgot about my appointment and passed me off to somebody else without even acknowledging me or her oversight. Another nail tech pressured me into making an appointment earlier than I wanted, only for her to show up 45 minutes after the appointed time. No phone call, no update, no communication whatsoever. Just me sitting there wondering if this was another canceled appointment that they forgot to communicate to me. I say "another" because I had an appointment with the same technician that she canceled, but the salon did not leave me a message to let me know. The only way I found out is because I wanted to add something onto my existing appointment and when I called the salon, I was told that I no longer had an appointment because that person decided not to work that day. In addition to horrendous time management and the hoops you have to jump through to get an appointment, the nail retention is also poor... And ultimately that's why I chose to get my services done elsewhere. Like I said, artistically some of these nail techs do a good job, but in terms of actual quality of work... Not so much. I tried to make it work, because finding a new nail salon can be a pain. However, I started experiencing substantial lifting of my nails after practically every appointment. At one point, I even developed nail fungus under my acrylic, which one of the nail techs ignored completely and just covered with acrylic, and another who tried to tell me "That's not nail fungus, it's bacteria". Whatever it is, it's not supposed to be under my nails... And it wouldn't be if the work was done correctly. Aesthetically, this is one of the nicer looking nail salons in the area, but looks are deceiving. This salon presents a lot of challenges from a booking, customer service, and quality of work perspective. read more

I visited Nova Nails for the first time on Wednesday as a walk-in. My neighbor recommended a technician to me but I didn't get the name right. Anyway, I was told up front that I could come back the next day if I wanted designs. I couldn't because it f my schedule so I went with the lady available. I was told she doesn't do designs but I needed them done. True to word it was basic but still good service. Fast forward to Sunday,, one of my nails cracked in the worst place ever. I went back. Greeted the moment I walked through the door. I explained what happened and I honestly couldn't remember the lady that did my nails. I was told to have a seat. I don't know the name of the lady that assisted me today but she's and Eagles fan She asked what shape did I want as my nails were more almond shaped than stiletto.. Not only did she repair the broken nail but she reshaped and relished all of my nails. In the end she didn't charge me a dime. Of course I walk around with no cash. I left ran an errand and came back with a tip. The first thing she said when I walked back through the door is you don't have to do that. I said to her neither did you. I have wanted to try this place out, due to what I have seen on IG. I called and was told to come in. Nova Nails is located in what appears to be the retail area of an apartment complex. I'm guessing that is why the parking was rather limited. There were maybe five or so spots for the retail businesses, others were for future residents and the like. When I initially arrived there were no parking spots and I believe that they tow... The inside of the salon is beautiful, it is calming, and decorated nicely. I was greeted by the owner and had less than a 5 minute wait before my services were started. I got a gel-x removal and a pedicure. I appreciated the care that was taken with my nail removal, as in the past other places have left my nails brittle. The pedicure was relaxing, and it wasn't rushed. The only gripe that I have is that there may not have been enough time for the polishes to dry in between coats. Otherwise, I'm really pleased with the service that I received at Nova nails, and would definitely try it again. read more

This place deserves 0 stars. I experienced a very nasty and almost violent encounter with a rude and inexperienced nail tech at this location. She didn't like when I kept asking her to turn the drill down. The heavy grinding was burning my nails. She did not care. And although I was getting annoyed, I tried to maintain my composure. She tried to come off like she was some kind of nail expert and that she knew better. I've been getting my nails done probably longer than she's been on Earth. I asked her to file my nails straight and square. She could NOT seem to comprehend so she got frustrated. She got into her feeling, stood up and said she wasn't going to finish my nails. Then, she had the audacity to go to the register and try to charge me $130. I said absolutely NOT! Then she tried to charge me $70 dollars. I told her that if I pay $70 dollars, she was going to sit her silly butt down and finish my nails. She started talking crazy to me using vulgarities (calling me all kinds of B*tches) and I delivered it right back to her. She acted like she wanted to fight me and I wished she would have taken a swing. Cursing, fussing, make threats... it would have gotten ugly and required law enforcement. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this nail salon. The fact that an employee would even have the nerve to confront a customer like she did is beyond reproach. Went based on reviews from Yelp. I called the day before to make an appointment with Angel and explained what I wanted which was either dipping powder but I wanted a point to my nails even though my natural nails were cut low. I was heading out of town the next day so this shop was my only option. I paid $150 for acrylic ombré and gel removal on my toes and new gel on my toes. First of all, the entire process took over 2 hours. My appointment was as 5:30 and I didn't leave until 7:40. Two different techs worked on me. I booked with Angel but ended up with someone else for my hands. The nail polish on my toes wasn't even. It took a while to get the color to look similar to my Pinterest picture but we finally figured it out. They looked nice the first night but the next day after I washed my hands a few times, the nails began to look cheap. The attention to detail is not here at this place. My nails should not look this bad after a few days. I have never experienced this before. I'll be going back for the last time to have them take this off because it looks so bad. read more

I don't like rating business bad, especially family owned. Very nice people, I assume mother and daughters were all working there. I just didn't like how dirty the floors were and a lot of things left out.. which is simple adjustments/ task to do. Good job on pedicure. I love the mother/daughter technician duo at this nail salon, so its with regrets that I must give three stars due to the lack of good gel/reg nail polishes. Nova Nails Salon uses the popular midgrade DND polish that does NOT last in my ten year experience of using it. I usually don't patron nail salons that exclusively use it but if youve been following my nail salon journey....Im desperate for a homebase nail salon so I gave them a try. Alas! I got my nails done here 5 times and ALL FIVE TIMES the gel nail polish chipped--with the exception of the one time they had reg OPI polish in a color I wanted. I even got the gel-x nail extensions twice (a service Ive gotten ten times before with no problems) and the DND gel polish also surprisingly chipped. But! If you're looking for those long "project-chic" nails with the designs that eat.... this is the place for you. I also was pleased to see a black nail tech employed here. But ALAS! I've been to other places before and was annoyed that they were around $50+ price point but now being to Nova, I think I'll circle back to those other spots. It was a $45 service (pricing menu was never shared with me when I arrived) nor was I offered a beverage (!) and then when I was paying was told it's $25 up charge for gel. Most other places I have been to there is a fee for gel but it's around $15 more. I also didn't think the technician was that amazing- she was good, got the job done but certainly did not walk away thinking or feeling like it was something that cost close to $100 with gratuity included. The vibe of the salon is very chill seats are comfortable and the music selection was great. I was a little taken back with their pricing, Amy did the work i requested but i was not expecting to pay that much. Service: pedicure with gel, $65 which was a basic pedi a little high for me as my normal tech starts at 35 and then as I add my spa pedi service I end up at 65... but that's with lavender mask, wax and sea salt scrub. Craftsmanship, flexibility and service are top notch at Nova nails. I decided to give them a try based on the review of their repeat client. I was VERY impressed. The first time I visited was to soak off a disaster set done elsewhere. They fit me in same day and Tumi was very gentle with me as my nail beds had been badly damaged by the previous set. They told me about the gel-x alternative to acrylic and booked me for a future appointment. Flash forward: today, I had a nail and pedicure with Victoria. She was quick, detail oriented, and gave great recommendations for basic color and design (I didn't have a specific vision today). 1st time customer. I called the lady that answered the phone very polite. When I walked in the lady with the purple hair she was polite. Asked me to wait 5 min. The receptionist offered wine, water, juice. Love. I didn't have because I just finished a slurpee but it was good to know they have. The mother did my pedicure. Very polite and a really good pedicure. She polished my feet perfect. I didn't have to examine or press the issue of making sure she cleaned as she went. She just did it on her own. I already have a manicurist but she doesn't do pedicures. But if I didn't I would be going there for both. My pedicure chair wasn't strong. I didn't feel the massage good maybe it was just the chair. But what I did like is the mom offered to switch me to another chair, and said next time we will use a different chair. That was fine by me. Nova Nails is an aesthetically pleasing establishment with modern decor, snacks, beverages (including wine), and modern prices. I loved the diversity of nail techs and supporting young business owners. They seem to specialize in the latest nail designs but I wouldn't recommend this nail salon to women looking for relaxation and basic mani/pedi gel services as prices are significantly more expensive than traditional salons. Gel mani doesn't come with traditional lotion massage at the end and neither did the pedicure (my feet were dry the next day which is rare). With gel and chrome, the total was $145. Unless you're willing to pay up charge fees for receiving the basic level of service seek another establishment. If you're interested in long nails and dope designs but don't care for "spa" like care, this is the place for you! The owner was dope, but I doubt I'll return. read more

My experience with Tumie was wonderful. I've been searching for a someone who is patience and knows what they are doing. She takes her time when attending to your nails before applying anything to them and explains what she is doing so you aren't clueless. There have been many times when I've came to her with no idea how or what I want done to my nails and toes and I leave loving what she's done every time!
