This review is based off my experience at the Saratoga Springs location. I've lived in Saratoga Springs for almost 15 years, back when there was absolutely nothing here, so I've been really excited to watch all the new development in this city. Seeing new businesses open up is something I genuinely look forward to. I was especially excited when I heard about this new place opening next to Fat Cats because I absolutely love crêpes and churros. I was born and raised in, California, grew up in the 70's & 80s, and I know what authentic churros are supposed to taste like soft, hot, fresh, coated in cinnamon and sugar, and full of flavor. Having traveled quite a bit and experienced many different foods, I can usually tell right away when a restaurant is hitting the mark. When I walked in, the place was beautiful the ambience was very nice, and the staff were friendly. It seemed like a nice family business, and I really wanted to love it. But I also noticed how quiet it was, and sometimes that can be a sign that customers aren't fully satisfied. I was hesitant to try the churros because many places outside of California don't quite get them right. Unfortunately, my instincts were correct. The churros were very disappointing. They were overly fried, hard, and tasted mostly like oil. There was barely any cinnamon or sugar, and the texture was crunchy instead of soft and fluffy inside. It just didn't resemble the authentic Mexican-style churros I grew up with in California or the ones you'd find at Disneyland. To be fair, the ambience and customer service were good, and the space itself is very nice. But when it comes to the food especially churros this place missed the mark for me. If you're used to authentic California-style churros, this probably won't meet your expectations. Personally, I would pass on this place and wait until I'm back in California to get the real thing. Overall rating: 2 out of 5 stars - one star for the ambience and customer service.

I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon to grab some lunch and this restaurant did not disappoint. The food was delicious, the employees were kind, and there were plenty of clean tables to sit at. I ordered the Turkey Bacon Avocado which consisted of turkey, mozzarella, bacon, avocado, spinach, cherry tomato, arugula, and a fried egg. It was $16, but the portions are huge! I only finished half and had to take the other half home. I really want to come back and try a shake with a churro. They looked soooo good, but I didn't have time to get one. I'm already planning my next visit though!

When I saw that a crepe place showed up in Jordan landing I was pumped. Finally got the chance to come here and it was a solid 3.5 stars (at least based on the crepes). My family and I got a turkey bacon avocado, ham and cheese, and Nutella and strawberry. The quality of the actual crepes varied from crepe to crepe. The sweet crepe was thick and spongy (which I'm not a fan of), the ham and cheese was a little less spongy, and the turkey bacon was nice and thin. They were all okay. However while the turkey bacon one was truly HUGE and pretty good, I feel it could have really benefit from more sauce as it was quite dry. The service was good. The food was made fairly quickly and the couple team members I interacted with were nice. It was quite pricey, $42 for three crepes and a drink. If I'm going to spend that much on crepes I'd prefer to go to the king of crepes, Dali crepes, but none the less, I wouldn't be opposed to coming here again to check out some of the other items in their menu

Awesome service, and the crêpe I had--the Berry Cream Crêpe--was delicious. In fact, it was the best crêpe that I've ever tasted! My one complaint (and reason for the -1 star) was with the whipped cream that came on the side, as I thought it was tasteless, Other than that, this place was great, and I'll definitely be back:)

After dinner nearby, my wife and I were looking for a quick dessert. Franco's Churro House stood out and beckoned us in. I was surprised that it was not just dessert-they also had savory crepes on the menu, which I'd like to return and try another time. As for the churros, they are ok. I'd prefer just one large churro, but the menu only had baskets options. I think there is too much of a big thing, resulting in overload and fatigue. The churros are really greasy and not as much flavor as I prefer. However, I did get the plain cinnamon & sugar ones-maybe with some toppings, they would be better. I also think that just one or two would have been good rather than a basket of so many.

They did have good churros, but the price was pretty steep in my opinion. I also thought it was weird the regular and large sizes were not consistent with how many came in the order. We liked the ones we got, but they are sweet and a lot so I recommend the smallest size even if sharing with 2 or 3 people. Because of the prices we will probably not go back. The staff was nice and the decorations were cute and fitting. I loved the different neon signs they had.

Come for the Custard, Skip the fries If you've never had…read morefrozen custard, let me set the stage. It's similar to ice cream but denser and richer because it's churned in a special machine that incorporates significantly less air. It also must contain egg yolks, which many ice creams skip entirely. The result is a smoother, more indulgent texture that's in a category of its own. Nielsen's leans into that heritage with a menu that covers concretes, mix-ins, floats, sundaes, multiple sizes, and a full food menu straight out of a 1950s cafeteria. Nostalgic, ambitious, and a lot to choose from. I visited the South Jordan location and have to be honest about the full experience. The tables were dirty, the staff (mostly teenagers) were focused on the counter and not on cleaning, and the wait was long enough that I nearly walked out. The double burger was unremarkable, the fries came out unsalted, but the corn dog was surprisingly good. None of that is why you're here, though. The cherry almond concrete is why you're here. It is outstanding! Generous almond pieces throughout, and the cherry flavor tasted genuinely real, not like something from a syrup bottle. I've had frozen custard all over, and this is legitimately my favorite. My advice: skip the food, go straight for the custard. Nielsen's earns every star on that alone.
