Well we visited Frank Pepe in Warwick RI on a Wednesday evening and their staff hit high marks on all levels! We ordered the Special Tomato Pie which was cooked to our request, New Haven Char. The restaurant ambiance is a very clean and modern look, nice and comfortable feel. We also ordered the dessert which came free with the Frank Pepe Rewards Program. The Italian Cheesecake and Flourless Chocolate Cake were absolutely delicious as well. I asked our server to speak with the manager, her name was Sam, who spent about 10-15 minutes speaking with us. We commended her for her staff, the pizza makers who were awesome and we acknowledged their service when we left. Overall a 5 out of 5 dining experience! Thank you Frank Pepe Warwick RI!

After a long day I decided to pop in on my way home. Online ordering was so easy, it was ready right when they said it would be & it was delicious. A little pricey, but you can taste the quality! Yum! I only did take out this time, so will update when I dine in. It looked clean & had plenty of seating. Will definitely be back when the weather is nicer!

Frank Pepe is one of the local spots we visit fairly regularly. They do a pretty steady 'take-out' business and have two lines at the entrance: one for dining-in and one for take-out. A host will seat you with menus. In warm weather they have outside dining by the entrance. Inside is booths around edges with tables in the middle. The big (really big) kitchen is open to the dining room. The menu includes several pizza options including white pizza and 'build your own'. They offer house salad and Caeser salad. Even the small sized salad is big enough to share. A few desserts, wine, beer and soda round out the menu. Pretty straight forward. Red pepper flakes, grated cheese, salt and pepper are on the table. Your waiter/waitress will bring plates, flatware and a pile of napkins. All the staff members we have encountered have been friendly and efficient. Parking is in a shared private lot. Restrooms are behind the kitchen, past the entrance.

You really can't go wrong with a pizza from Pepe's if you like this type of pizza. We usually order a medium, but opted for two smalls with different toppings. My husband likes toppings I don't particularly care for. Nick was our server and recognized us from our previous visit about a month prior. We were immediately forwarned that they were preparing and baking a huge order (90 pizzas) for their catering, so there could be a bit of wait time. Luckily, we were lucky and didn't have to wait too long. The restaurant was busy! Our pizzas were sausage on one, fresh mushrooms on the other. So good, so good!! This pizza was perfectly cooked tonight, even with all the pizza they were making. We usually get here once a month, and enjoy the lightness of the meal in general. Nothing heavy, just true delicious -ness!!

My daughter wanted to have lunch here, it was my first time. It was quite busy but the wait was nit even 5 minutes. The waitress was sweet. I ordered the small pepperoni and my daughter mushroom. The pizza is done in a coal over, I was able to see the coal being thrown in the oven (it was cool to see). The pizza is well cooked thin and not just a lot of dough. The pizza was really good straight out the over, even though it was a small it was enough to take some home. I did also try a slice of mushroom which was good. The cream soda was for my daughter which she says she loves, I had a lemonade. It's a busy place but ample room and nicely decorated with history of Mr. Frank Pepe. They have an app where you can order and earn rewards. I signed up and received $10 dollars off my first order. The ingredients are fresh and the prices reasonable.

Frank Pepe's Pizzeria does not disappoint. We finally got to try the Fresh Tomato Summer Pie with a New Haven char. The pie was perfect and delicious. We even had dessert. Starting with the manager, waitress and guys making the pizzas they are top notch and very friendly. There are many tables and booths to choose from. If you have not tried this place it is worth the visit.

I love New Haven pizza! Peppe's is one of the co-inventors (Sally's being the other). Their signature clam pizza is the best. This is a white pizza with lots of clams, thin crust, slightly charred, bubbly and delicious. Service is good and it's fun watching the kitchen make the pies in their massive oven with long wooden paddles.

Delicious, very cheesy pizza everytime. It is brick oven style, so you have the burnt spots on the bottom but they add to a lot of flavor on the crust. We split a cheese pizza and anchovies on the side for my husband. It was lunchtime and half full and service was good.

I was born and raised in CT so I was thrilled when Pepe's opened in Warwick. If you love a thin crust pizza, well done...give it a try! My go to favorite pizza here is the bacon pizza. It's also a must to get the birch beer with it! Family friendly atmosphere and you can easily order online for takeout.

The reputation arrives first. Walk into Frank Pepe's on Universal Boulevard in Warwick, and a hundred years of reputation walks in with you. The original is on Wooster Street in New Haven. It opened in 1925. Frank Pepe was a 32-year-old Italian immigrant from the Amalfi coast who had been selling pies from a hat, carrying them on his head through the neighborhood market to feed factory workers who needed something hot and good and cheap. He saved enough to open a real restaurant. He built an oven. The oven stayed put for over 100 years, because you do not move a hundred thousand pounds of brick. His nickname was Old Reliable. That history is sitting at the table with you whether you know it or not. The Warwick location lit its coal-fired oven in the spring of 2018. Seven years of continuous heat. The bricks are absorbing it slowly, not all at once but building. You can taste what they share with the original, which is the part that matters. We ordered the tomato pie with meatballs. This is the right call at Pepe's and I am not apologizing for it. The tomato pie is where the place began. Two items on the original 1925 menu: tomato pie and tomato pie with anchovies. No mozzarella because there was no refrigeration. Constraint became tradition the way it always does, faster than philosophy ever manages. At Pepe's, mozzarella is optional. Pecorino and the tomatoes and the crust are the baseline, and the baseline is the argument. The sauce is crushed Italian tomatoes. That description undersells it. The sauce at Pepe's has been refined for a century to carry a pie without a cheese safety net, which means it has to be bright and acidic and complex enough to hold its own against char and dough and whatever is riding on top of it. The meatballs were sliced thin across the tomatoes and seasoned all the way to the center. That is rarer than it should be. Then there is the crust. The coal-fired oven runs somewhere above 650 degrees. The char on the edge is not decorative. It contributes a bitterness that cuts right through the acid in the tomatoes. They need each other. The leopard spots across the bottom of the pie tell you the heat and the timing were right. The crispness is structural. The chew underneath it is real. We also ordered the grilled chicken pie. Yes. At Frank Pepe's. The room has opinions and the room can have them. What I did not expect was for the chicken to be a genuine star. Not pulled, not scattered, not the afterthought that grilled chicken usually is on pizza. These were proper chunks, with intentional size, juicy in a way that should not survive a 650-degree coal oven but somehow did. Substantial. The kind of protein that makes you feel good, even though it's on a pizza. When I eat it, I feel like I'm taking vitamins. It tastes healthy. There is a lot of it. It is delicious. These three things rarely show up together on a pizza and Frank Pepe's managed all three without making it feel virtuous in the annoying way. It felt like a reward. Frank Pepe's in Warwick is not the original. Nothing will ever be the original. The original is on Wooster Street in a city that built its identity around this particular pizza and has been arguing about it for a hundred years. What the Warwick location is, is an honest attempt to bring the New Haven style here. The coal is real. The oven is real. The sauce is the sauce. The crust is the crust. Seven years of heat in those bricks doing the work that oven was built to do. Great room. Great service. Really great pizza. Old Reliable. read more

I stopped by the place at the recommendation of some friends on a Saturday around 1pm. Every table was full. There was a wait of about 20 minutes and the wait for the pizza would have been another 30. There were about 2 waiters walking around that seemed slammed. I ended up leaving and returning later that night. I took the advice of one of the patrons from earlier and ordered online. I ordered a medium pizza with Pepperoni, Sausage and Bacon for $38!!!! When we arrived the pizza was ready so we sat down and ate as there was hardly anyone there the second time around closer to 9pm. The waitress was extremely nice. The pizza is beyond basic and I was highly disappointed. The pizza was unevenly cut and the toppings all just fell off the pizza. I needed a fork to eat the pizza. Sadly they didn't have any knives. The bacon was nonexistent. I couldn't believe I just wasted $40 on a circle of soup. I won't be returning. This place just isn't for me. read more

I love me some Frank Pepe! Let's just say made fresh out the oven is pure joy! The sizes of pizza are great but it is in the pricier side for pizza but I love it. I used to do pick up a lot and that was an extremely easy process. Everyone is so kind, on the phones, cooking and serving. I've also sat down and ate a few times here. The servers are very sweet and attentive and your food comes out pretty quick and it's delicious. It's so much better to sit dish and eat it there it's so much more enjoyable especially enjoying it with a crème soda. The parking lot is shared with several other businesses, but there's always enough space and it's never an issue to park. When it's warmer out, you can sit outside which I haven't done yet. The first few times I went to order online I was completely turned off by the price. But the pizzas are HUGE! There medium is bigger than larges anywhere else. And the ingredients are all fresh and amazing. Hands-down the best pizza in the area. I have eaten in house, ordered pick up, and also ordered delivery. I've had a great experience every time, staff are all friendly, Pizza is always cooked perfectly, and as I previously mentioned, the toppings are all amazing. One last thing that I wanted to mention. After you order, they send you a survey. One of the things I mentioned was that since delivery is done by a third-party (Uber eats), it would be nice to have some tape or something on there to know that the food has been not tampered with. My next delivery there was tape on the box! I also had one bad experience, that was not their fault. It was a fault with the delivery, which they do not have control over. Regardless, I mentioned it and they sent me a message and rectified my bad experience. Highly recommend! read more

I don't think there's much that can be said that hasn't been said already. Unless you have an aversion to coal fired pizza, this one should rank on most pizza lovers top 5. Consistently fresh and crispy, Pepe has never disappointed with their offerings. If you like tomato's, I'd encourage you to try their fresh tomato pie which is done seasonally. I'm not even that big of a tomato fan and I was impressed by it. I'll be looking for it again this season when it comes back around. read more

Visiting family in New England and wanted good takeout for Sunday night football. Pizza was the move. And this pizza was really really good. I've never had anything like it (I'm from the Midwest) but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I've had neopolitan style before, but this was different in a good way. The caprese pizza was really good. Normally I'd go for a margherita but we just had one the night before from somewhere else. This was better. Thanks! read more

Best pizza in RI. I expected to be drowning in great pizza options in this area, but that hasn't been my experience until Frank Pepe's. So now this is my go-to. Good if you like thin crust. Sauce is excellent and they do a great job with plenty of sauce &not drowning it in cheese. I think one reason their sauce is so good is because they source their own tomatoes. If you're lucky they sometimes have cans available for sale. When I use these at home, it's much easier to make your own delicious sauce without too much fuss. Their pizza is so good sometimes I just like it with out toppings, or just olives or mushrooms, but their pepperoni is good enough that I'll still get it here, but don't bother at other pizza parlors, because of past disappointments re quality. I always try to go in summer to get fresh tomato special when it's in season. Note that they have special pizzas for each season. I enjoy it when they have Italian standards as background. They carry nice bubbly lemonade and Foxwoods sodas- they even have some sugar free & they don't have terrible artificial sweetener taste. Salads & deserts are nice, but I prefer salad tossed in advance, & they got a little pricey recently. Service is always friendly & accommodating. It's casual atmosphere with ample parking & seating. Very clean including restrooms. Don't forget to ask for extra oregano. read more

Expensive and way overcooked. Two pies came to over seventy dollars, they are bid pies but not big enough to justify the price. Brought two pies home, both burned to the point of having to throw more than half away. Decided to give them one more try, even asked the woman on the phone to request they not be overcooked, worse than the week before, burnt beyond recognition. I'm done with FP. read more

This place is amazing! My son celebrated his 14th birthday. He is THE most picky eater. (I hate taking him out to eat.) He loves pizza with bacon. He was hungry after wrestling practice and purchased a medium with bacon. It was served perfectly: soft chunks of bacon on a cheese pizza. He ate all but one slice of a medium. My youngest son (11) and I (70) split a medium pepperoni and on my half I added sausage. A medium was still a little too big for the two of us but he ate all but one slice and (I shouldn't have eaten so much) but I also left only one slice; it was just so delicious. My wife ordered a small Margarita pizza. When the waitress brought out her pizza, she informed my wife that the pizza makers put just a little too much sauce and her pizza was, according to her, " a little soupy". (it looked fine to me, - had she not said anything, we probably wouldn't have known.) she told my wife and she said that they could remake the pizza but since they are all made to order it would probably take about 20 minutes. My wife was a little disappointed bc it was our first time at this establishment and she would have liked a good example of their work but it was ok. She would accept it. As my wife bit into her amazing first slice, the waitress came over and said that the cooks had already started her second pizza. They allowed us to keep both pizzas without charging us and we took leftovers home!!! Now that is service!!!! And the ambiance is wonderful. I thought that they could probably add a few more tables but it being spaced out like it was gave me a more relaxed feeling. I didn't feel so crowded. And from my spot I could watch the pizza makers. I love to cook, and watching them was the highlight of my experience. This place has taken our hearts!! We will definitely be back more than once. (I should add, we live only one mile from Pasqualle's in South County Plaza and considered them since it was a 'special birthday celebratioN but when my wife compared their prices to Frank Pepe and commented how much better can Pasqualle's be over Frank's. So we thought to try Frank Pete and we were not disappointed!!!) I have yet to try Pasqualle's but Frank Pete's is amazing. How much better can it be? And for the price, and the friendliness of the wait staff, we plan on being regulars!!! I almost forgot, my 11 year old said he wanted the chocolate cake. I thought we could get it just so we could sing happy birthday to my oldest. The boys didn't care for the flourless chocolate cake but my wife and I devoured it. It was so rich and wonderful. I'm not sure why the reviews of these new Frank Pepe locations are all over the map. Maybe it's because I've never been to the original, but I think this pizza is fantastic! First visit for both my school aged child and myself for lunch. Our waitress Brittany was awesome. Explained the menu options and answered my questions about the rewards program. I signed up and we enjoyed an excellent lunch. 2 pizza, sausage and chicken were excellent. Both the Caesar and Pepe salads where delicious. Boxed up some pizza so we could have some tiramisu which was excellent. The service by everyone from the greeter, server and food runners was excellent. We can't wait to return. read more

My wife and I went to the Frank and Pepe's Pizza in Warwick, RI last night. We have always had great pizza and great service in this restaurant. However, we arrived at 8:30 PM last night and had a terrible experience. When we arrived, the hostess was talking to another employee and did not even recognize us. One of the other waitresses told her to seat us. The hostess went over to get us a table, and she continued her conversation with the other employee ... completely ignoring us. After approximately 10 minutes we simply left the restaurant. This has been a "want-to-go-back-to place since we tried the original one in New Haven. The pies are coal fired so they are a bit darker but so much tastier than traditional pies. We ordered the mushroom sausage pie. It was delicious. We ended up with extra but we wanted to get plenty Jeff did a great job serving us that day at lunch. I've been to this particular location a couple of times. The service is always excellent. We had kids with us and the waitress asked us how charred we won our pizza. I thought this was excellent because we knew the kids wouldn't like the char. We ordered a couple of side salads before the meal. I had mine with chicken. It was a really excellent salad. They also have a nice selection of beer. They also have Birch beer if that interests you. We decided just to split a cheese pizza because the kids don't like toppings. This was our mistake. Cheese pizza lacked flavor and I found myself adding garlic salt to make it taste better. It does have excellent crust. I feel like the Frank Pepe's at Mohegan Sun is a better pizza. Then again, maybe I was just drunk at the casino. But lesson learned: I will definitely get toppings next time. read more

I placed this order online, to go, it says 27-37 mins, fine... I get there 20-25 mins in, then while I'm waiting I get told it'll be about 20 mins more... They need to fix their online ordering algorithms, I can't stand businesses that do this, if I hadn't paid for this order online, I would've cancelled the order... While I'm waiting, there's another person waiting and having the same issue, seems he tried cancelling his order and they wouldn't do it... I finally get my order, 48 mins after placing it! I would rather they tell me up front how long it's going to be than having me show up and it's not ready... The saving grace is they comp'd me for the next order, and the pizza wasn't bad... but, get your online ordering algorithms fixed! New Haven style pizza in Rhode Island from a big-hitter in the New Haven pizza scene. Their crust is fantastic and is the real star of the show. The kitchen is fun to watch with their long pizza paddle. It is inside a strip mall, so nothing crazy for decor or ambiance, but nice overall. Friendly and helpful service and reasonable prices. The pizza is quite good, but I will say the mozzarella and tomatoes are pretty standard, nothing special going on with those. The crust is great though. Three stars is a stretch. Two and a half is more like it. We had heard good things from a friend about this pizza, so we decided to give it a try. Skimpy toppings and very burned crust. I know some burnt crust is to be expected, but this was over the top burnt. The pizza reminded me of what a couple of buzzed high schoolers would turn out if this was the first time trying to make a pizza. Not cheap either. read more

We have been to Frank Pepe's in Warwick a few times now. Twice for take out and twice to eat in and all four times have been perfect!! The staff is above and beyond friendly!! The wait staff is exceptional but the pizza cooks are just as great. With the exposed kitchen where you can watch them make the pizza they could be all business, but they are very friendly and answer any questions we have! The dining room is spacious with booths & tables. We have not been in during a super busy time but I would imagine I could get loud in there. The $15 lunch special with a pizza, salad and drink is perfect and the rewards program gets you free things right away! Can not recommend this place enough!!! I've had Frank Pepe's in New Haven, the best, Mohegan Sun, second place & here in Warwick 3rd. That being said it still was very good. The biggest knock is the ambiance, sort of a wide open Applebees due to its strip mall location & square layout. In 1920, Frank Pepe and wife Filomena left Italy's Amalfi Coast for New Haven, CT, seeking a better life. If you were to look up Greek style pizza in the dictionary, you would see a picture of this pizza. As I was chowin down, I realized it's like the most perfect textbook version of the style. Its perfection makes sense given Dimitri has been making pizza for almost as long as I've been alive, and I'll be 41 this year. Even after he retired himself from Cowesett Pizza, passing the torch to Britt, his former employee, he could only last a year before he was called back into making pizzas. Now, the reason you're reading this review- THE FOOD. I ordered the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich with a Caesar Salad. The chicken (photo below) was perfectly cooked, topped with hot honey, slaw, pickles, and ranch then placed on a soft brioche bun. The meal was reasonably priced as well at $33 which included tip. The bartender was friendly and helpful. I decided to go with the seared salmon, Brussels sprouts, and corn risotto. Thankfully, it wasn't much of a wait because I was hungry. My food came out fresh and hot. Everything was really delicious. My only complaint was there were a few flies swarming around me, which made my dining experience less enjoyable. I spent most of my time trying to swat them away. The bartender even moved me to another spot, but they still followed me. While I really enjoyed my food and the service, it might be a good idea for them to invest in small table fans to keep the flies away. Otherwise, my food was tasty, and the service was great!

Small cramped inside, some outdoor seating, more of a pickup and go place. Overall, its definitely worth another stop at some point.

The pizza is decent. The customer service however, not so much. I waited a while to visit because everyone was hyping this place up so much in the beginning and I didn't want to go with such high expectations. A friend of mine from CT swears by this place but after reading some reviews of this location I decided it was best not to expect too much. The girl ringing me out seemed less than thrilled to be working. The pizza was not hot, but not cold either. Felt like it was sitting there for quite some time, but it did taste good. This pizzeria serves the best pizza I've ever tasted. While the prices are slightly higher than some places, the quality justifies the cost. I've always wanted to try the white clam pizza at Frank Pepe's in New Haven; however, upon visiting relatives in Rhode Island I heard there was a location. My sister, her daughters and myself all went and we enjoyed ourselves. Our server Nick was very friendly as well. read more
