I would give this place 0 stars if I could. If you ever have a choice, DO NOT USE THEM! My father got into a really bad accident, this row was called by Highway Patrol because I was in the middle of filing the claim with his insurance. They took my dads car, gave us a business card, everything was good at this point. A couple days after the accident, our insurance tried to get the car, but they needed a release. My father is a 61yr old man, not yeah savvy at all, so I sent them an email via my email address with my father's registration and drivers license, I'm also under the policy. They said that the email address had to come from my dad email address and not mine, so, I sent them an email from my fathers email address (we made him one), sent over the information and they had the audacity to ask what the insurance provider was. This was after my dad sent them the email with the vehicles registration and valid drivers license. I don't know why they add extra stress to folks who are already dealing with total losses/car damage. I would highly recommend you DO NOT USE this tow company. read more

Not a fan of towing in general. FST is no exception. I was charged $500 for a 5 minute tow. When I called, the car had not even arrived for pickup. I have out of state plates and feel targeted as well as overcharged for a minimal service. The website does not state the fees. You are simply at their mercy. In my state we call this predatory towing and it is now against the law. Full transparency is required. Come on, Redondo. Do better. read more

This place deserves no stars at all, but I need to give it a star to post my review, since I hope people read it and, if given the chance, choose another company to tow their vehicle. They overcharge yet do not produce/provide an itemized invoice/statement to explain what they're charging. The towtruck driver was rude and defensive from the get-go, I believe due to the fact that he wasn't English proficient. I contacted the owner/manager about this, only for him to defend his driver and say they were in the right, citing the "camera that was recording in the tow". The camera did not get all the angles, and the audio was not captured, so he did not hear or see how this man came barking at my son-in-law from the beginning, not respecting the fact that my daughter had just gotten into a horrible accident on the freeway and could've been killed. My son-in-law took a few steps to ask what he had just said and the driver got in his face and continued yelling. This is not the kind of scenario you want when you have just had an accident, are shaken up, and need your car removed off the highway to prevent more accidents. The man later threatened to take the car to the yard, since he became impatient and wanted the $404.79, payed ASAP (I was in the process of trying to transer the money, since I was at work). So, in a nutshell, rude driver, poor customer service and management that does not care about anything else but taking your money. *PS- At one point I got on the phone with the driver and tried to speak to him in Spanish, to better understand what he was saying. He kept trying to switch the conversation back to English. I wish I could post something lower than one star! I purchased a car at their liens, LA auction that had a nice aftermarket stereo in it! When I went to pick up the car, a day later, I paid for the vehicle they brought it out, and the stereo was missing. I filed a complaint with management, and they just laughed. These guys are alright. We blew out a tire driving up the sidewalk curb. Called AAA and they told us the tow truck will be 30 minutes. ((We could have done it ourselves.. but we didn't have all the parts)). They arrived within the 30 minutes.. however.. when they got to our car to change the tire.. the driver apparently didn't have the right tools to change it. Instead, they towed us to a Just Tires to get the job done. I feel they should have been more prepared. Most people's only interaction with towing companies comes when they call roadside support, or have their car towed for whatever parking infraction they are never at fault for. In this case, I called Scotto Towing to pull out an old Ford in south central that I needed towed to a restoration shop in Torrance. They arrived, and the job was definitely more than they bargained for (but I did warn them!). They called to confirm the appointment, and were on-site, on-time. The driver tried what he could, but just couldn't get the in-op car out, as it was also blocked by another car (in-op) with a locked steering column and no keys. He didn't sweat it. He just called another driver with dolly-wheels and they got both cars moved, and my behemouth on the flat bed. They didn't charge me any extra, and were in pretty good spirits (a tip healthy tip may have had something to do with that, though.) Scotto was fair, hard working and got the job done without destroying anything. I appreciate that about a company, and will not hesitate to use them again. read more

Get a call from a collection agency. They advise me I owe money to Frank Scotto Towing. I tried to explain to several reps the situation and they don't care. So now I have to pay this extortion to them and best part of all , they disposed of the vehicle. I was donating and now I can't. The collection agency claims a certified letter was sent to me and it wasn't. That's ok , I wont be a victim of them. Last night my battery died on my motorcycle. I was about 15 minutes away from my house but couldn't get my bike started. I called up and they told me $150 an hour. Their service was quick and professional. Their driver was friendly, overall made the experience a great one. Dude was super nice and he rode himself. We chatted while he gave me a ride back with my bike on the bed. I will definitely call them again if my bike breaks down and I need a tow. read more

For anyone reading this in a situation of distress, please take this review into consideration. I want to save anyone going through a hard time, trying to find the most convenient towing company to help them out the trouble. This one start is mostly just for the nice woman that picked up her car. It was a rainy night and we accidentally got into the railroad tracks on Torrance and Cabrillo. We called this company and she told us the prices up front ($70 for getting the car out of the railroad tracks, $160/hour for towing to a nearby destination). We honestly found the prices to be a little high, but we agreed because we just wanted to be out of that situation. We were told they truck would be there within 15-20 minutes. The man arrives and I kindly approach him and let him know where we were parked because he turned onto a nearby street. He rudely said, "I know". The rest of the time was a nightmare. He kept talking to us with that attitude. He kept stalling. It was clear he was doing so that we would end up paying more. He also asked derogatory questions like, "how fast were you going? You must have been speeding if you had three flat tires." It's a railroad track with many rocks. Anyone going to speed limit would end up with damaged tires. To make matters worse, we ended up needing a flatbed. Another car got stuck on the railroad tracks, and their sister company Van Lingen was there finishing the job. Yes, finishing the job with another car while we were still there. He basically handed the job over to the worker from their sister company and just took off. If you're in a terrifying situation, don't make matters worse by calling this company. Literally try anything else. I wouldn't want anyone else to go through the same crap that we went through. The negative reviews here are correct. The workers are rude. They are ridiculously predatory. It's just a horrible company to call upon your time of need. Shame on you. read more

I have a one week old car, called the manufacturers road side for a jump/tow and was told it would be an hour and a half. Keep in mind I'm in the same city, Torrance CA. Now I understand that things happen but when they were 30 minutes past the ETA I call my road side and was told it would be another 45 minutes so I called the tow company directly. I got the standard "so sorry blah blah blah" and was told "it's been a crazy day for us" I'm sorry but I don't care, clearly as a customer my day sucks too but they couldn't even be bothered to call or text me with an update. Why would I have to call? Had I known that it would take almost 3 hours I would have just called my insurance company or lied and said I was unsafe then maybe I would have at the very least gotten an update. If you can avoid this company at all cost unless you have 3 hours. So after 3 hours the wonderful security guards at my job got my very dead battery charged enough to start my car. We decided since it was in pieces might as well let them take . Today we received a letter from collections agency of nearly $2000 fees for this service . Contacted company spoke to Carol whom was not helpful at all , called detective and once again he reassured me we didnt have to pay he did say the company could call him so husband called towing agency again and gave detectives number to Carol but as we presume she wont call because all they want is money . The tow truck driver for this company was nice and accommodating and very sympathetic to our situation from having a car accident. The office staff was ok as well not very friendly but ok in handling my request to remove contents from my vehicle. On the other hand the yard guy that was instructed to wait with us until we removed our stuff was rude and very impatient. He was not sympathetic to the fact our car was totaled and we just needed a moment to swallow the situation as well as remove personal contents that at the moment we were a little saddened. For what ever reason your vehicle ends up here and you need a little compassion just know it's just business for them and no compassion will be given at least for some. read more

Dispatch employs shady charge practices. Was not told the "clock" starts at the outcall, so the time for the job was double a simple tow. I called for a tow to the gas station/mechanic and was told they don't tow to private businesses. I told the lady who answered the phone that the mechanic was open with staff on duty to receive the car. In addition, I told her I would meet them (I was going to follow tow truck in a different car) at the station to receive the keys and hand them off to the mechanic and she said they don't tow cars to private businesses and they refused to provide service. My mother asked me not to review this place because she's convinced they are aligned with the Mob. My mother has a vivid imagination. In my humble, little opinion, I simply believe these people have no hearts and no brains. Where is the Great and Almighty Oz when you need him? Ahem...but back to the review... I always enjoyed being an only child until the day my father suffered a brain aneurysm while driving. My mother and I were informed by the police at the hospital that my father's car had been towed. They gave me the claim slip and informed me that if I had any trouble from the towing yard, to have them contact the police (phone number on the slip) in order to release the car. This should have been easy. The very next day, I left my mother at my father's side at the hospital and arranged for transportation to the towing yard. Once there, raw with emotion and running on two hours of sleep, I attempted to pay for my father's car and bring it home. However, they wouldn't let me. They asked if I was on the insurance. As the adult child of my father, the answer was obviously no. I calmly explained the situation. I told them my father was in a medically induced coma and asked them to contact the police's number on the back of the slip to verify that I could pick up the car. That's when the girl on the other side of the window said something I couldn't believe. She told me I needed a written consent letter from my father giving me permission to pick up his car. I reminded her about the medically induced coma and went on to offer proof that not only am I my father's daughter, but that I work with him and have his trust. I also explained that my mother didn't want to leave his side and I was trying to alleviate any kind of stress for her that I could manage. Surely, this was not the first time they had experienced something like this. Again, she told me I needed written permission. At this point I completely lost any kind of calm demeanor I had somehow managed to keep. "What part of MEDICALLY INDUCED COMA did you not understand?" I practically bellowed. And then a stream of obscenities flew from my mouth. I surprised myself. Apparently I surprised her too. She fled to the back of the office and talked to her manager. Then she came back. "We need your father to give us a letter, written in his own hand, in order to release the car," she said. At that point I completely lost it. I also didn't get the car. Maybe I should have forged a letter, but I tend to be a little too honest that way. Three days and several accumulated dollars later, my mother was forced to pick up the car herself. Did I mention that cars in the impound that have not been claimed by a certain amount of time are sold at auction? Yeah - it's no wonder they have an "F" score from the BBB. HORRIBLE, ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE Normally I am a very forgiving person when it comes to bad situations with companies. I understand we are all human and have our bad days but this experience was the worst i have ever had. I got into an accident, hit a curb and broke my rim on my car. I called AAA for help and Frank Scotto's towing showed up. First, the guy who they sent was extremely rude, never said please or thank you. I needed him to put on my spare, all the while it was raining, and he made my girlfriend and i wait outside in the rain while he attempted, for 30 minutes to put on my spare tire. He started cursing at the spare tire, had 1 lug nut on and started kicking it over and over WHILE MOUNTED ON MY CAR WITH 1 LUG NUT. He attempted to claim that the spare tire was all bent and out of shape (which it was not.) He then told ME to call his dispatch and ask for a flat bed tow truck. When i called their dispatch, i explained that the man was rude and i was not comfortable and wanted another driver to try to put the spare on, the lady apologized and send another drive, the next driver refused to help me, and was not even a flat bed tow truck. He stated he could not follow up another drivers work for liability reasons. So he was worthless to me, i called the dispatch back, all the sudden the same dispatch lady had no knowledge of me asking to put the spare on and said the driver only showed up to tell me that it would be another 45 minutes for a flat bed tow truck. Clearly, not the right answer, nor helpful in any way. Also, why would you send somebody to just tell me that and leave? They could have just as easily called, he was useless to me. I call AAA back, they sent somebody out from Redondo Towing who was AMAZING! He found the problem right away, which was a screw that fell out of my break caliper from the accident, which led the tire not to fit. A case was opened with AAA regarding potential damage to my car, in which contacting Frank Scotto, they claimed that the original driver who serviced me was "one of their best, and we do not understand how you could have had a bad experience." Long story short, stay the HELL away from these guys at all costs, if AAA sends them to you, ask for a different company, your car will be in worse shape by the time they get it on the car to tow it!!!! read more

Okay, I was pretty scared when I read the review of this place, and I think we're all predisposed to hating this type of business because there's never a good time to get your car towed. However, the horrible experience that I was expecting just didn't materialize and I felt like I owed it to them to give them at least an honest review. Okay, so my car was impounded, that much you can guess; I'll spare you the details of why and how. The driver that came by to tow the car gave me a card with his name and tow yard details; that's a plus since I've had the same type of experience before and they can be real jerks. The attendant at the tow yard was polite and helpful, and my car came back to me in one piece, no worse for wear. Pros: They took good car of my car The lot was accessible and not in the boondocks The Attendant was polite. You can get you car "After Hours" and just about any time. Cons: They took 45 minutes from the time I paid to actually get my car The tow charges and fees are exorbitant. They charge you an extra fee to get your car out "After Hours", which begs the question, how can you have 'After Hours' when you advertise that you're open 24 hour a day, 365 days a year? LAME. You get charged by the LA Sheriffs for the tow charges AND by the tow yard: LAME! The bottom line is that it was a heck of lot better than dealing with the LAPDs tow yards in Wilmington that charges 3 times as much and were found so deep in Wilmington that I felt like I needed a shirpa guide. My auto insurance called this company to tow my car (335i so it needs a flat bed) and at 2:51pm we were quoted an hour wait time. It's 4:37pm and the receptionist just told me it would be another 15 minutes. When I asked why it still wasn't here after quoting an hour, she told me she didn't know, she was just the dispatcher. Their time quotes are horrible!!!! And I'm unclear as to why they thought a 335i could just put a spare tire on (335i's only run on run-flat tires, there are. I spares in this model, which you think a company that's all about vehicles would know). I'm very disappointed, and I see why so many reviews on here are so poor. Update: the showed up with the wrong truck twice and finally got here around 6:30pm. Quoted one hour at 2:51pm. NEVER GO HERE! We both arrived home and parked next to each other, and as I got out of my car I noticed a deep scratch on his passenger side door. That wasn't there before and it looked as if someone bumped his car into another car's door/side mirror and dragged it along. Ouch. Bad service and super expensive. If I could give FST zero stars I would. St. Farm's roadside assistance program called them for me. I was told they would be there in 40 minutes. An hour and half later I called them to check the status. I was asked my address and placed on hold. Three times someone picked up, asked my address and placed me back on hold. All of these gals were as friendly as wet cats. Someone finally picked back up and told me their driver would be there in 30 minutes. I cancelled them and called George and Joey's since I have used them in the past. The guy on the phone from George and Joey's was friendly and they were at my house in 20 minutes without telling them I cancelled FST. If my name were on the business you can bet my employees would be courteous and would show up when promised. From reading previous posts it appears Mayor Scotto has gotten fat and happy with the big contracts he has with insurance companies and dealerships that they don't need to provide decent service Don't make a bad situation worse. My car was towed here for blocking construction on my street. I know, I know, my fault! So no problem, I just needed to go pay and show up here to reclaim it. When I arrived I was told there were no drivers available to get my car out, and they weren't sure when one would be available! Really?! So I had to drive back home, cancel my plans for the evening, and wait until someone was. They called me 2 hours later, at 8 pm at night, so I drove back and picked it up. This would have been a one star review, except for Roxy. She was very sweet and did call me once the driver was available, rather than me continuing to have to call and check, which I appreciated. I forgot the name of the lady I spoke to on the phone, but she called to follow up to say the ETA of the tow truck. She was also very nice. Monte was the technician who came out to the property. It's not easy getting cars out of our parking structure. But he did a fantastic job. On top of that, he was so very nice! Idk why this place has bad reviews. I had this guy named Dino help me out and he was super resourceful and proactive. Always trying to help you save money. This place is awesome. People complain too much on yelp because people are too sensitive ( especially these butt hurt yelp reviewers lol). Nonetheless 5 star service helped me out when i got my car into an accident.
