I come here whenever tomatoes are in season for the tomatoes on a bagel with salt, pepper and olive oil and it is to die for!! So perfect every time, if they tomatoes aren't good they won't sell them which can be a bummer but ultimately I prefer that they are super seasonal to be perfect every time. My fiancé always gets the pastrami and absolutely loves it as well. There is often a line but it moves fast and the servers are friendly. A classic Jewish deli at the edge of McCarren park. I stopped by on a Sunday morning to try out their classic smoked fish bagel sandwich. There was a significant wait, probably due to the number of walk-in orders as well as orders placed online for pickup. I waited around 25min in total for my food, so I'd plan ahead accordingly. As far as the food goes, the sandwich was delicious! The bagel, smoked salmon, and cream cheese all tasted very fresh; the ratio of the ingredients was spot on. Their cream cheese was exceptional. The bagel was surprisingly a little on the smaller side, so keep that in mind. I wasn't full after eating one but I also wasn't hungry anymore. Based on what I've paid at other places, I think the value here is decent. I've seen smoked salmon sandwiches go for more at other places, but they weren't as good. Overall I'm planning to return and try some of their other sandwiches in the near future. read more

Delicious bagels. When toasted, there is a good crust on the outside but chewy on the inside. I got the Frankel's bagel sandwich, which had cream cheese, cucumber, and lox. I got it on a sesame bagel, toasted. It was delicious and balanced well all together. What I liked about this deli was the restraint of the menu. There were 7 bagels to choose from, 9 cream cheeses, and a handful of sandwiches. I usually know what I want before I go into a deli but some places have so many options that it can get overwhelming. Sometimes I want a smaller/limited menu because I know the items will be done well. Staff was friendly. If I were to be asked where to get the best bacon, egg, and cheese...Frankel's would 100% be my response. The bacon to egg, to cheese to bagel ratio was perfect. I mean, just look at it...need I really say more? I didn't eat my sandwich right away and when I did, (about 5-10 minutes later), it was still hot. This is the epitome of comfort food meets hardy breakfast. While I didn't try it, also pictured is the heirloom tomato which looked and smelled amazing. Everyone at Frankel's was very nice and were extremely quick with getting your breakfast out to you. First up on the list we had this Pastrami, Egg, and Cheese on a Challah Roll, absolutely loved it, it was soft, the meat was tender, and the eggs were so fluffy. The Frankel's #1 Bagel has pastrami salmon, and the classic toppings, I would prefer less cucumber next time as I thought it took away from the salmon, but still a decent bagel. Is this my favorite pastrami in the city? It might be. I've been meaning to try Frankel's for years, but always struggled to make it to the neighborhood, before their 3PM closing time. I finally made it last weekend and was definitely pleased. Their pastrami sandwich is a full $5 less expensive than many of the other options around the city. Some of the other options are kosher, so that might explain part of it, but still greatly appreciated, and in comparison, I think the quality of the meat on the sandwich we got was much better. I liked that they also pre-mustard your sandwich, but are totally happy providing extra sauces. (I love a little russian dressing mixed in with my spicy brown mustard!) I also couldn't leave without trying their pastrami style salmon. I got the classic nova, but switched the nova out for the pastrami salmon, which got the cashier's seal of approval. The pastrami flavoring was a bit subtle, but the quality of the fish was excellent all the same. However, I will still probably just stick to pastrami next time! read more

Contemporary Jewish deli, offering some of the best bagels and sandwiches in NYC. Frankel's has only been open since 2016, and is already well established as a Greenpoint institution. Their menu offers a great selection of breakfast and lunch sandwiches, along with smoked fish, salads, and spreads galore. They have hot dogs too. Whenever I am in NYC, I am on a mission to eat as many bagels as physically possible. I kept hearing about Frankel's Heirloom Tomato bagel, and though my expectations were already sky high, they were exceeded. This bagel brought tears to my eyes. Juicy, perfectly ripe heirloom tomato's (yellow and red), were sliced thick atop a hefty schmear of cream cheese (I opted for tofu scallion), and of course a fluffy, fresh bagel encrusted with everything seasoning. The decor inside is also nice with a good variety of other snacks for purchase. I ordered the pastrami egg and cheese on a roll and it was delicious! The egg was fluffy and the cheese was melted perfectly. The roll was so soft and simple enough to pair with the pastrami. I liked the vibe and atmosphere of this to-go deli. The decor feels both new and retro at the same time, which is cute. I was lusting after the Pastrami, egg and cheese and decided to get it on a roll. Lovely Jewish bagel shop in the heart of Greenpoint right off major bus lines and the G train's Nassau Ave. It is always busy in the mornings with a line of locals whenever I make an order online for pickup. For me, that is the way to go so I don't have to wait inside with a crowd of people just standing around. Usually it takes 10-15 mins pickup time for 2-3 bagels. I always order their bagel with either scallion tofu or regular cream cheese, toasted. They are consistent with their product so I have no hesitation recommending anyone wanting a solid local Brooklyn bagel. They sell other deli sandwiches as well. The store is clean and modern and the staff are quick. They package everything so precisely that I'm always impressed with their presentation for a bagel shop. Ever since Molly Baz and Alex Delany did their episode trying everything on the menu, this has been on my list to try. The food is good but not mind blowing by any means. I had greater expectations than what I experienced. I ordered the hot dog special and the BLT. I also tried their bagel and cream cheese which was very basic imo. Do order the BLT, it was amazing but runs you ($12.99) and you will wish it wasn't a small portion. The challah bread and dressing were my favorite components of the sandwich. The staff are great and friendly. There's some street parking during the week and the train is nearby for easy access. Ideally more of a tourist trap (but the food is decent)! read more

Anytime I think I may find a better Deli than Frankel's, I don't and end up here at the end of my trip. I always enjoy trying something a little different every time and it's never short of phenomenal. Following another Yelper's suggestion, I ordered the reuben and substituted saurkraut with slaw and it was the closest to Langer's #19 (Los Angeles). The meat was super tender and bread really fresh and soft. It was delicious. The service was friendly. But it's a very small deli with limited bench seating so not suitable for groups at all. This place is legit. New Yorkers don't wait in line for nothing! A bit confusing like you can only order online, but you can walk up an order. The only weird interaction I had is when the cashier seemed super confused when I asked for a bagel with cream cheese and pastrami. Like you can't just build a bagel there with their ingredients. I get something like that at a chef driven place. But this is bagels bro. They had to finesse their bagel, pastrami, egg and cheese item to accommodate. I mean, glad they did, but let's be easy bro. One of the only things I miss, outside of Peter Pan donuts, about moving away from Greenpoint a few years back is this place. Their breakfast sandwiches are truly fantastic. Great for a hangover.
