Likely the worst experience I've ever had with a restaurant. I ordered directly through Frankie Fed's website using its "Start Order" option, which directed me to the restaurant's own ordering app. I placed the order at 1:48 p.m., and the estimated delivery time was about one hour. As soon as my card was charged, however, the delivery estimate changed to 3:48 p.m.--a two-hour wait that was not disclosed until after payment. I immediately called the restaurant to cancel, but they told me I needed to deal with the app. The app first routed me through an AI chatbot that could not handle the issue, and it took several minutes to reach a live representative. That representative then told me I needed to contact the restaurant. When I explained that the restaurant had already directed me to the app, I was told this was a "self-delivery" order, meaning the restaurant itself was responsible for delivering it. I called the restaurant again and was told the order had already been prepared. Rather than wait nearly two hours, I drove there and picked it up myself--after already paying a 15% delivery tip. When I arrived, I explained how frustrated I was and asked them to do something to make the situation right. Their idea of compensation was to give me two small round cutouts from what appeared to be leftover cake--not even an item on the menu. Rather than making things right, it felt like insult added to injury. To make matters worse, the food was terrible. The pizza appeared to have been sitting for close to an hour by the time I received it. I used to enjoy Frankie Fed's, but after spending nearly $100, being sent back and forth between the restaurant and its own app, paying for delivery I never received, and seeing such a poor effort to resolve the situation, I will not patronize them again. There are better restaurants in the area that are more professionally run and value their customers. I strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere. Dropped into this unassuming place for an early dinner. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. My wife asked for some recommendations off the menu, but we decided to go with what we were familiar with this time. We ordered an eggplant parmigiana dinner with pasta and a shrimp fettuccine alfredo. My wife enjoyed the shrimp and my eggplant was equally good. Both dishes had plenty of food. For dessert we shared a tiramisu. We both could have used a little more coffee in the tiramisu, but that was our only fault with our entire experience. Their menu is loaded with pizza choices, which many around us were ordering and enjoying from what we could see. There were some pizza choices I would like to try on other visits. At minimum, you always get the pizza, and you always order the small one, and you order multiple kinds. I strongly recommend you get an eggplant Parmesan pizza. They're all meat. Pizza is incredible as well. It's BYOB, you can go with one person or you can go with 20 people, they are happy to accommodate you. Now I remember why I don't come to this place. The food here is awful. If I could give it zero stars I would. Entrees are in the $25 range. No salad. No bread. I ordered eggplant parm. It has been quite a while since we frequented Frankie Feds but we were very happy that we chose to come here on this Wednesday night. The place offers hearty portions and delicious food It's very casual and great for an easy night when there is no time to prepare at home. The prices are very fair even with all the increases we've endured recently. I had the veal Bolognese special which was yum. I can't believe I ate the whole thing. I just couldn't stop; it was so good. My husband had the lasagna which he loved and we do have lunch for today. This is a free-standing building with its own parking lot. It's very handicapped accessible being on one level. It was not busy at 7:30pm on this Wednesday, but I'm sure it's packed on the weekends. Our food was hot and delivered very quickly which was epic! Been living in Freehold for 33 years and never tried this place until then. I'm not sure what the hype is about. I'll get to the good and/or okay.... 1) Our server was friendly 2) the 'Super Garlic Bread' was different and delicious. 3) The Garlic and Olive Oil pasta and the Lasagna was good but typical.. nothing special. 4) The bread pudding and the Toll House cookie cake were very good! The major downside and the reason why this place is getting 3 stars... first of all, the managers and servers were all chatting out in the open (and loudly!) They were talking about the weather, their sisters, other customers! I just wanted to enjoy my meal in peace and not have to hear the whole conversation for over an hour. Also, I paid with a credit card and noticed they put "cash" for tip. I didn't bring cash... that's why I'm paying with a card! I didn't see a sign or anything anywhere about leaving tips in cash. Therefore, I just wrote out what I wanted to charge to the card (with tip). I apologize if they didn't get a tip, but that's just crazy. In 2021, you should be able to leave a tip with a card or at least get told about it! This place was overall okay. I wouldn't recommend or come back. I do Uber eats from here regularly, and usually Uber eats screws up the food. Honestly it's the only way I can get it to my house. This place even if the food is cold it's absolutely bomb every time. Side of bread: fresh, ok Caesar salad: Good but not like the traditional Caesar salad recipe (you'll be disappointed if you're expecting that) Cheese pizza: Sauce & cheese tasted yummy. For the crust, you have to make sure that you know that, although this is described as "thin-crust pizza", it's the kind of thin crust that's cracker-like (unlike other thin crust styles). I had to try this pizza again since my last review. After trying it again I have to bump it up to a 4 star place. I ordered the large cheese pizza and although it is a little salty this pizza is addicting. The style is very unique since it is very thin and almost has a cracker crust. I can never eat just one slice. I get some extra house dressing on the side and sometimes dip the pizza. If you havent tried that you are missing out. We also tried the fried ravioli with tomato sauce. The kicker was that tomato sauce. It was chunky and delicious. Very underrated. Frankie fed's is a solid spot. I am VERY disappointed. After MANY years of being a devoted fan of Feds and Frankie Feds, I have to say that they do not meet up with what they once were. Earlier today, I called in an order for a pie with onions and another with a double order of sausage and garlic. While the onion pizza was good, the "Extra" sausage pizza had only 8 pieces of sausage. To take it to a higher level, this pie did NOT have any garlic. Had not been for awhile heard good things with new owner/management - not so much. Appetizers were delicious the rest not so much. Very salty and food tasted old. Gut feeling says jar sauce- Kind of creepy with the Santa set up when you walk inside and a real turn off to be greeted by a table of 2 people taking phone orders the minute you walk in the door. Maybe invest in some office space in another part of the restaurant- most people go to enjoy a nice dinner not hear management yapping on the phone to other customers saying how much their catering pricing is per tray. The nice smells that emanate from the kitchen heighten my olfactory sensors and it put me right in the mood for their luscious pizza. But first I asked my server, Heather, for a small portion of cold ante-pasto and Italian bread with oil and wine vinegar. It tasted great even though IMO raw carrots should never be in any ante pasto. After devouring my first course, including the carrots, I ordered a medium mushroom pizza, oven-cooked to perfection with a glass of seltzer and lemon. Great meal and it hit the spot. They have a complete Italian menu, which I forgot the pic. BYO Yelpers, be aware of the 15% coupon, to help defray the cost. This place is a gem. It never fails my family and I after ordering their platters 'catering style'. The eggplant parm is amazing and flavorful. I was really excited about finally making it to this local favorite eatery. I was expecting to give it rave reviews and have a delicious pizza experience. On the plus side this place is really unique and a fun place to take the family. Also their customer service, speed of bringing our food, and friendliness is the best I've seen in the area. At least three people asked me if I enjoyed my meal on my way out for example. Very impressed with the customer service here. But darn it their pizza just didn't offer the excitement I was hoping for. The flavor was just average at best. It is thin crust though, so if you like that style you may want to try this place. We ordered a plain, vodka sauce, and pasta & vodka sauce pizzas. The plain and vodka sauce pizzas were average. The pasta and vodka sauce pizza was two stars. First time we ever ate here. Let me start off by saying the employees were friendly but the service was a little slow! From when we got seated to our server, everyone was friendly and attentive. It was pretty decent but not on par with a thin pizza from that place in Neptune ...I got chicken piccata with wheat pasta. Let me begin by saying I was a little disappointed that a salad DID NOT come with the dinner. I did get one but was banged 5.99 for it ‍. As for the portions, they were average at best with three and half VERY thin sliced pieces of chicken. It tasted very good, but I must say it left me hungry for more even after eating the wheat pasta. The pasta was also good, which was in a tasty red gravy which tasted home made. Also had dessert, the toasted almond tiramisu. I have to say the tiramisu was very good. Overall, the food was good, and the service was so-so. I enjoyed good pizza from Frankies since moving to Freehold a few years ago. I've even had a few good meals as well. All takeout. No issue with the food and since I've never dined in the resturant I can't talk service or decor. However, on Thursday while waiting for my takeout pizza at the resturant rear near the kitchen, I witnessed something gross. A staff member was preparing multiple dinner salads and while dishing out ingredients with gloved hands decided to cough covering his mouth with his hand and then proceeded to grab for more ingredients. All salads were now contaminated. You can decide for yourself how you feel about this. I know enough to make up my mind. Ps. We've lived in the area for over 20 years and often passed Frankie Feds but never stopped in. I can say that after today I won't go back for another 20 years. Stopped in for lunch and I ordered a meatball parmigiana hero, my son got spaghetti in a meat sauce (no meatballs) and we each got a soda. The bill was $40 + tip! Was there tonight with a large group (including about 6 young children) following a birthday party for my granddaughter. We called ahead, and they were able to oblige our group. First thing is our server, Jill, was outstanding, attentive, patient, and all the orders were correct. I've heard the pizza is very good, but most of us ordered meals. I had the daily double, the vodka sauce was creamy and tasty and the chicken parm cooked just as I like, a little crispy on the edges with a slight browning of the mozzarella.
