The barbecue was excellent and I'm pretty picky about barbecue. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Plus, this place has pool tables, karaoke, recliners, old jukebox boxes and all kinds of stuff.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Outdoor patio too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The owner waited on us after a quick tour of the place. He brought out some food samples and gave my wife little tastes of different tequilas too.

We happened upon this place when we were in the area and looking for dinner. BBQ sounded good so we popped in. Nestled in what we thought was an industrial area is a hidden gem. The smell from the parking lot told us we were in for a treat. Highly recommend the pulled pork and the brisket and the smokey beans and the mac and cheese and ... well you get the idea. Pretty much everything on the menu is worth trying. We got the BBQ sauce but to be honest, the meat was far more flavorful and didn't need the sauce. Definitely go for the smokey beans over the baked beans. Don't forget the entertainment. We arrived on karaoke night (every other Friday). Go give JB and The Smokey Pit some love!

Looked like it was a family owned restaurant. This restaurant was way out of where we usually go. It was in a very secluded location. It has a lounge area, pool area, patio and regular seating area. The in decor was very outdated but we went there after hearing very good opinions about the food. We are very glad we went there. We ordered 2 meats which each came with 2 sides. We got a chicken leg quarter which was quite juicy and well seasones. The Rib tips were amazingly seasoned but the meat was a little tough than i would enjoyed it to be. Coming to the side dishes, they were really good. We got Mac and cheese - very silky and very cheesey Jambalaya - this side was charged extra but was worth it. Amazing taste. Red beans and rice - very homely tasted Baked beans - had that nice sweet barbecue sauce taste. Ordered Chicken/sausage gumbo - the best dish i ate there. The heat and flavor in this gumbo was totally next level.

Another hidden gem! This place offers nostalgic smokey BBQ flavors, mainly reminiscent of Texas style smoked meats. The meat is well-seasoned, tender and the smokey taste lingers after the last bite. There are three sauces (habanero, regular and spicy) that all compliment the meats very well. The baked beans were fantastic. My family enjoyed the Mac n' cheese and potato salad as well. There is light traffic since this place is fairly new. It is a great addition to Baton Rouge as there aren't many BBQ restaurants that can compete with south LA home-cooked BBQ. This place also has pool tables, a fully stocked bar and an outdoor patio; plenty of variety to enjoy family and friends. The staff is also welcoming and pleasant. I highly recommend it! (The only reason there aren't 5 stars is because I haven't had the smoked ribeye steak yet)

This is the best BBQ I've ever had-- period. I love the brisket, the ribs, and the burger, but the smoked turkey is the thing. The homemade lemonade is awesome and the atmosphere is nice with a large patio. The juice and smoothie bar adds to the diversity. Simply put, it's in the smoke. It's a must try. FYI: You can shoot pool while you wait for your order, and the staff there is awesome!

The food is great. The smoked catfish is unlike anything you've had before. Don't sleep on The Smokey Pit

The host, M, was very knowledgeable of the history behind The Tunnel as well. She even gave us a special escort to locate the restrooms. Our bartender, Patricia, recommended The Golden Gatsby and she sure did show off her mixology expertise because that drink was absolutely delicious! We can't wait to come back in a few months! Definitely a place to visit in Baton Rouge!

Once in the restaurant, we went to the bar and got their amazing Golden Gatsby cocktail. It was sweet and fruity and had a nice kick to it. The bartender made great drinks our entire visit. I also got an old fashioned which was great. We ordered the beef wellingtons minis and the duck confit tacos which were very yummy. There were not a lot of people there at all. It was us and another couple. We did not have any long wait times at all which was one of the reasons I chose an earlier reservation time not a time later in the afternoon. The ambiance was perfect for date night and the vibe was very intimate. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a romantic evening with their significant other!

We were in a large alcove at the back of the restaurant. It was spacious and elegant, even with the table ended up being almost entirely filled. Our waiter was enthusiastic and patient with our large party. Refills and check-ins were timed well. The drink selection was pretty extensive. Food was delicious and all delivered within minutes of one another (no one was stuck waiting for long). Burger was cooked to perfection and not TOO hot. I hate when food is so hot in temperature that you can't take a bite. The chocolate cake was good, but the whip cream tasted kinda fake/oily. The cake itself was medium density and had a slightly salted finish. It paired perfectly with the frosting which was very rich and extra sweet. A delightful pairing. For my drink, plus a double shot of whiskey, the burger and dessert, it came to just over $100. That feels expensive. Take that as you will. I wouldn't return mostly due to price. But quality on everything was great, and so was the service. Atmosphere was great too.

Ambiance was good. -2 stars because we sat at the bar on a Friday night and the bartenders were very lackluster. Barely spoke to us. The place wasn't overly busy either. We tried to make conversation and it fell flat every time. We enjoy making small talk with bartenders that's why we chose to sit there. Not sure if it was an off night or what. The lounge section was also closed due to a private party. Understandable but we wanted to have an after dinner cocktail. Overall we'd go back and sit at a regular table.
