We have been going to Frankies for years but not anymore. Our last visit we had to wait 75 minutes for our salads while other later arriving tables were being served their entrees. Our waitress was bad, the noise which is usually loud since it is a small place was amplified by the unreasonably obnoxious table behind us. Tables are too tight which is good for Frankie's wallet but bad for enjoying a meal. Plenty of other options in the area to enjoy an Italian meal. read more

We had a birthday party for a family member there recently. Great Italian food (with big portions!), very friendly serve & staff, PLUS it's B.Y.O.B. which means you'll save a fortune if you have wine drinkers in your party. Only 2 things you should be aware of: 1) They hit you with a 4% service charge if you use a credit card, so be sure to bring cash, and 2) it's kind of tight quarters on a busy night, so don't expect a lot of room to spread out. We have ordered from Fellini's many times and have loved their food. Tonight's was inedible. The Caesar salad was wet and soggy. I ordered bolonese and got some heavy cheese dish. Great tasting Italian food but didn't like the seating. The place is very small and they try to cram-in more people than the restaurant can hold. Their website is outdated, they no longer make pizza. Take out takes forever and they are rude about it. We waited at the counter for more than an hour after the pick up time they gave us and snapped "Its not McDonald's" when we questioned at half hour mark how much longer it would be. The pasta dishes here are incredible. I didn't love the dine-in experience, service was ok but it's a pretty cramped space and felt kind of hectic, however the food is really great and we will continue to pick up from here! 1. We ordered through Grub Hub around 5pm. The food was supposed to arrive by 545pm, but didn't arrive until nearly 7pm. 2. Food arrived cold. 3. We ordered one appetizer and two entrees. The appetizer and my entree were correct. The second entree was supposed to be shrimp and GLUTEN FREE pasta (specially ordered for Jessica, who is gluten intolerant). The entree was chick and broccoli over penne. When I called the restaurant, the "son" told me the only thing he could do was make a new order and have us come and get it. When I explained that the restaurant must have packed the order incorrectly, and that we didn't even know if the pasta was gluten free, he got angry. When I asked to speak to an owner, "Lia" came on the phone, who promptly said, "we don't need your business." They they hung up on me. 4. I called back from my phone, and they didn't pick up. 5. Jessica called back from her phone, and "Lia" answered the phone. Jessica explained that she had just been discharged from the hospital (true), that she was gluten intolerant (true), that she couldn't be left alone, so I couldn't go and get the food (true), and that all she wanted to know with certainty was whether the pasta in the chicken and broccoli was gluten free. Lia said she couldn't guarantee that, but that all they could do was refund the money. The son then gets back on the phone and starts arguing with Jessica. The son then hung up again. After a day of wedding shopping with my bff and my 2nd mom, we met up with the boys for a dinner. My bff's parents were staying in a hotel nearby and they like italian. I had been here several times many years ago. I'll preface this with, I'm not a huge fan of italian food. It's not that I don't like it, I just never crave it. We made a reservation and we promptly seated. It's a very small, cramped restaurant. You are sitting on top of one another. We were again the window by the door and it was very drafty, so I put my coat on. It appeared that one person was taking orders for all the tables with a lot of bussers and people running food. So it took quite a while to place our order and she would not let us put apps it before ordering our dinner. There is also a note on the front of the menu letting you know if you split food you will be charged a 50% up-charge. That's a bit off putting. I totally understand it's a BYOB and so the cost of the meal is low, but it's tacky. My husband and I like eating out, but will typically nosh on a couple apps and then split a meal, but apparently this won't be a place we'll go to. Ok, the food. It was good. We ordered the warm Caesar, it's huge. It's says for two, but we split among 5 people. We also ordered the fried calamari. It did take a very long time for our meal with no apologies from the server. I ordered the beet salad and soup of the day, both were good. Oh and the warm bread before was great, but prefer if they served with olive oil with seasonings or butter. Was a bit dry on its own. Who would've thought that one of the best Italian restaurants is hiding in a small town Berwyn, PA? I have dined at some of the famous Italian restaurants in Florence, Rome, NYC, SF, Chicago..., and this place is definitely a hidden gem. I was home visiting family and was very excited to try this neighborhood BYO that I'd heard great things about. My dad and brother both ordered salads as appetizers. Minus one star since they never got them but were charged for them :-/ I'm not one to complain about a meal. I dine out a fair amount and am usually never dissatisfied with my meals. With that said, I'm sorry to say but my meal just didn't do it for me :( I got the entree that was pasta with seafood. While the shrimp, clams, mussels, were delicious and fresh, there was no taste to the meal! I tried to spruce it up with some cheese but nothing. Then tried pepper and nothing. Needless to say I finished the seafood but left the pasta. As for the rest of my group, half enjoyed their meals. This surprising little gem of a place tucked away in a tiny strip mall on Lancaster Ave. has some of the best bread, pastas and salads I have ever had. Inside it is very cute, the man who owns it or runs it (not sure, he is always there though) is a real sweetheart and all the staff is friendly and nice. Their bread is the absolute best, very crispy outside and soft inside; I've actually stopped in there late afternoon and bought a loaf to take home for a special dinner (they charged $6). I work close by and have gone here for lunch a couple of times and always been delighted with the food - they have the best ravioli, amazing salads (looove the goat cheese one) and great gnocchi too. But here I will review the dinner I had last night. I wish I had a camera to take a picture of the grilled vegetable platter we ordered as an appetizer - so pretty and colorful and beautifully arranged - sweet red peppers, asparagus, zucchini, eggplant and tomatoes grilled to perfection so they were soft yet still firm. I ate so much of that with bread dipped in olive oil that I took most of my entree home! Their menu is huge - I think almost any pasta dish incarnation you can dream up will be on it. It's very hard to decide and just sitting there sipping wine for a bit and watching the food come out of the kitchen didn't help, absolutely everything looked scrumptious! Last night I had the "Tagliatelle ai Funghi Porcini" which was pasta with porcini mushrooms, garlic, cream and onions. Oh my, if you like a deep mushroom taste try this, so good and the sauce was not thick or too heavy either. My dining partner had the chicken cacciatore which I tasted and though I would not order it, it was still very good made with boneless chicken breast with some yummy salty olives in the sauce. We split a slice of chocolate mousse cake for dessert and it was completely delicious, deep dark chocolate cake that was not sweet with a luscious rich chocolate mousse in between the layers and a lighter chocolate butter cream icing outside. I teasingly asked the owner if he baked it and he said it was from Sweet Jazmines (a local bakery, which I now need to check out!). It's BYOB so take a nice wine, the food deserves it. The only negative is how small this place is. With the exception of a few tables in private alcoves, it's mostly European type seating with lots of tables squished very close together so you are practically sharing a table with those around you. Lunch it's very quiet there but at night it is hard to get a table, so call for a reservation. This place is no where near my house but I would go out of my way to go back. Maybe I should give it a four because of the seating but that doesn't really bother me so it's a five, just really excellent food and service. read more

Delicious food. You really cannot wrong with anything on the menu. I love the calamari, Cesar salad, gnocchi with gorgonzola, veal, and pretty much every pasta. They are also very accommodating. BYOB. Loud and cramped. Can be hard to get a table, and even with a reservation there can be a wait. As long as you are are not claustrophobic or sensitive to sound, check it out. The food is very tasty, but they are often very confused about pick up. I would never eat inside, even though lots of folks are (tables are definitely not six feet apart and people are crammed inside like usual). Most of the staff wear masks, so I don't mind running in to pick up food. I am happy to support a family-owned business, but I wish they took the pandemic a bit more seriously and figured how to make the pickup situation better. We went here for Mother's day- It was our first visit, and just wow! Great sauce, great dishes, great desserts! And we all agreed (all 7 of us) that we would be back. The food on other people's tables looked even better than ours, so they must have known the secrets here. My gnocci was a little dough-y and I didn't care because it was still SO good. I ordered it primavera and there were tons of fresh veggies smattered throughout the light yet delicious sauce. I saw someone's pasta dish served with no red sauce and there were even more veggies in it! Will try that next time. My mother's chicken dish was perfect for just how she likes it. Same with my sister's salmon. Everyone was beyond happy! There clearly were a lot of regulars - and for good reason. Lots of vegetarian options, though the two in our party that had the meatballs swore by them. My family also is coming back to try the Sunday Sauce, because it sounds just like Grandma's recipe! Deserts - I never liked cannolis, but ordered one for the table, just to see how 'real' it would be where everything else was so authentic. It was FANTASTIC. We smashed it into pieces and everyone tried a bit. The kids loved the gelato. This place looks like nothing on the outside in a little strip center- and I can't imagine why they haven't grown to a larger space because the inside is rather cozy, but it is warm and inviting. The food was excellent, and the portions were generous. The place is not big. And very loud. Which made conversation an effort. I used Open Table to reserve. Which led to a phone call message from the restaurant asking me to call them the next time I am not going to follow through with my reservation. My phone was off. I likely wouldn't have heard it ring anyway because I was seated there and eating already at the time of the call. This led to an email from Open Table as well asking why I didn't show up. Apparently, your ability to reserve status changes if you show up and the restaurant says you did not. Hopefully, that was corrected. So far, too much time was wasted with listening to a message from the restaurant, calling them back, email from Open Table, answering the email. We were seeking some solid Italian. We have gotten take out here and it was pretty OK. We came home from the shore and decided to dine in. We arrived and there were only 4 other tables. We ordered chick parm, a gnocchi plate and pasta to be served first for our son. 20 minutes in they were out of gnocchi, we quickly adapted. "Can you bring our sons when ready?" Sure. An hour in, nothing. "Im sorry slammed with take outs..." the waiter claims he has been there for 6 years, his service skills were terrible and the manager never came over. The first thing to come out ... my chicken parm?!? Where's the child's Pasta?? "Doing what the chef has up!" This place is low rent and terrible service. It's a shame. Our entrees took extremely long to come out and one was incorrect. We ordered 3 desserts to go-only received 2! Through all of this, staff was not even apologetic. Stay away from this place on the weekend. Reservations are meaningless. Our party of 4 had a reservation for 7:15. We were seated at 8:00 and it is now 9:15 and still no entree. At least we brought good wine. Come to think of it, the fruit flies really like our wine too. The food is good but the service is TERRIBLE! The food took over an hour to come out when tables that showed up after us were served. The waitress NEVER checked in on us one time after getting our appetizers or entrees. We NEVER got a refill of water even though the table next door did. Then when the bus boy cleared the table, he dropped the knife on the table and splattered tomato sauce all over me, just said "meh" and walked away. NEVER apologized. The waitress also literally dropped the check on our table and walked away. Did not say thank you or have a nice night, even though she said it to the table next to us.
