Great service! Good food at very reasonable price, on-site parking and easy access to the highway.

It is a melancholy commentary on the local dining scene that this establishment remains the sole option for a proper sit-down meal. One cannot help but wonder whether it survives by merit or merely by the absence of competition. The waitstaff, to their credit, demonstrated professionalism and slight effort despite working under what appears to be remarkably unpleasant management. The proprietor saw fit to interrupt our meal to berate our table without provocation, singling out a young woman whose only offense was politely inquiring about a missing item from her order. It was an astonishing display of insecurity masquerading as authority--needlessly combative, dismissive, and entirely devoid of hospitality. As for the cuisine, "uninspired" would be generous. Several menu items were unavailable, and those that did arrive possessed all the excitement of damp cardboard. Seasoning seemed to have been treated as an optional luxury rather than an essential ingredient. Every bite faded from memory before the next could be taken. The dining room offers little consolation. Its atmosphere is sterile, its décor anonymous, and its aesthetic as forgettable as the food itself. There is no warmth, no personality, and certainly no sense that anyone involved believes dining should be an experience worth remembering. Were negative stars an option, they would be more appropriate. This was a disappointing meal and an unfortunate reminder that having no alternatives is sometimes the greatest ingredient in a restaurant's success. read more

The visit started out great as we tried an appetizer that was a special. It wasn't until 8:18 pm when it went south. Specifically, I went to order the Senior Spaghetti dinner when I was told that it was unavailable as were all entrees. When I asked if it was because they ran out, the waitress responded no that they stopped serving pasta and entrees at 8pm. I responded that there was no signage and nothing noted on the menu about this fact as I noticed another table had gotten their pasta and entrees about 10 minutes prior. The waitress also never said anything of the sort when she sat us down around 7:40 pm. She flippantly said sorry w/o any true meaning and the manager on duty never said squat to me and also avoided eye contact. Not that it matters to the waitress and/or owner of this establishment, but I have yet to have a visit where I am not disappointed. Frankies use to be a top notch place to eat, but over the past few years it just continues selective quality customer service. Maybe if I become a "regular", I will get the service that I've witnessed other customers receive w/o having to beg for it. read more

Prettiest pizza I've seen in years! Great about allergies too. And I love that the background music is a mix instead of just country or rock. It's also quiet enough you can hear your table mates talking. Huge plus for me there! Inside is more modern than you'd expect, and clean too. I will totally come back when in the area. read more

I really don't give 5 that often, but this is truly amazing, I had a burger which was amazing. The owner is always there and he comes out and checks. The waitress was great too. the ambiance was of an old timey style. The new owner has done works for that place so don't be discouraged from previous review, this place is special. Every is homemade from the bread to the pizza crust. I'm a very picky eater, so I hate carrots and carrot cake, when I tell you that carrot cake was 10 out of 10 it truly was, also it's homemade too. Went here for the first time today. My friends and I were just going to split some appetizers so we got potato skins, cheesy garlic bread and beef nachos. All of them were amazing! We loved everything and had so much food we took 1/2 of everything to go. Our server, Sam, was very attentive and helpful. We also ordered 3 pieces of carrot cakes to go...OMG!.... Best carrot cake I've ever had. The frosting was so creamy and delicious and I loved the layers instead of a sheet cake. I will definitely go back - there were lots of yummy things on their menu to try later. Go try this place - great food and service! read more

Loved this place as a kid. Still love the pizza in my heart, but got sick on it several years ago; before they were on that restaurant turnaround show. Tried it again seemed fine but I couldn't go back. Now I stick to the fried apps especially onion rings and mushrooms which are homemade and excellent. Pizza was good. Nothing special. French dip was like beef jerky. Sent it back. No offer for anything else, nothing off the bill. Manager/owners sone Jake asked how it was. When I said the sandwich was very tough he said sorry and started backing away. Until I said that usually I waitress would say .. can I get you something else? It just taken back to the kitchen, still on the bill.. I was told next time we came he would take care of us and I could get a 1/2 sandwich on him. Told him we were from grand rapids and not local. Think he said just tell however you talked me and they will tale care of you. Not the best costumer service for sure. Waitress made a comment about she can't do anything cos we already paid. FYI. We went here for a family dinner this last Friday evening. It was a bit of a last minute dinner choice and we had 13 people. We sat in the caboose area towards the back and although clean, the decoration is starting to need updates. On the wall there was a painting that was beginning to chip off and I noticed the ceiling had a hole that appeared somewhat poorly patched. Obviously that shouldnt deter someone, but just an observation. Food wise I cannot complain. My fiance and I ordered a pizza and it was a good size. I actually enjoyed the pizza! We also got the special appetizer which was fries, cheese sauce, bacon, and jalapenos. Nothing crazy of course but not bad. Our server was nice, I have no complaints with how she was with us. She got us refills and checked all the boxes when she was around but it did take a while in between when we would see her. After we ordered beverages it felt like a long while before she came back to put in our order of food but as said, we had a larger party and it's not like we weren't all talking in between that time. I'd give this place 3.5 out of 5 because of service and overall just ho hum food but if you're swinging through Three Rivers for whatever reason, this place will accommodate a larger group and individual tastes from it's pretty safe but decent menu. read more

Food was excellent! I had the sausage sub, with green peppers & onions, and House sauce, with home made chips. The bread seemed to be home made! My friend had a battered fish and fries dish which also was very good. Prices were down right... Inexpensive! Had nachos burnt to a crisp maybe 2 tablespoons of burnt burger awful after waiting 30 minutes. We've been eating there since it opened decades ago. Great personality. Clean. Nice interior. Today was our first time, and ordered two large pizzas and one children's spaghetti. I'm not really a doughy thick cheese type of person, but this was good! Our waitress was VERY sweet, and very capable. Really appreciated her advice on what to order. A man (the owner?) came around and gave our entire family suckers. It was a small gesture, but very much the reason I love going to local restaurants. My little one was exhausted from a sleepover, and traveling back from an allstar game... and it perked him up. After seeing an obscure foreign film at the Riviera Theatre in downtown Three Rivers, we often have cast our eyes about the town, searching for a good, reliable place to eat. In Three Rivers, that, unfortunately, is a daunting challenge because mediocrity abounds. Recently, we decided to check out Frankie's, a restaurant we pass by often as we drive south from the highway to Main Street to get to the theatre. Frankie's is more of a restaurant that serves alcohol than a bar that serves food. The bar is rather modest, maybe having room for 4 stools. The menu is modest as well, with pizzas, salads, sandwiches, subs, & appetizers. I have to say that the most enjoyable moment was after the last time we had a meal at Frankie's - when we discovered what we guessed was a very nice '66 Mustang Fastback in the parking lot. So I sat on the hood for a photo. The second most enjoyable moment was earlier in the same meal, when the basket of onion rings brought to the table as an appetizer. Homemade rather than a Gordon Foods product, the onion rings were a hefty and delicious treat. But the entrees we have had have been tepid choices. We are not huge fans of thin crust pizzas so we need to be really wowed by the ingredients to take notice. We have not been wowed. The last time we went to eat at Frankie's, the cheeseburger I had and the steak sub my girl had were boring and tedious. The latter had meat which gave each bite a weird spongy feel. I suppose anyone that eats burgers has an idea of what makes burgers delicious for them. I like the protein to be the star, rather than serve as a platter for the accompaniments. The ground beef in the burgers that Back to the '50s (South Haven) is tasty and I know the owner uses a proprietary spice mix; those burgers would be juicy and delicious plain. My cheeseburger at Frankie's was undercooked and tasteless. I enjoyed the ample pickle slices though. I suspect the brand of potato chips that came with the cheeseburger and sub were Ruffles. Blah. So, not a destination restaurant, but if we were in town to see a film on China's destruction of its natural resources by strip mining, and we were too hungry to drive back to Kalamazoo, then we might go to Frankie's for onion rings and beers. As a side note: We worked in occupations in which the privacy of our customers was a priority. As a consequence, we also took pains to protect the privacy of the people that worked for us. For example, I insisted that the name plates on my assistants' office doors and their ID badges never had visible last names. I knew from experience that it was possible for customers to pick up on clues so they could intrude on the privacy of my assistants outside of work. So, the last time we went to Frankie's, my girl pointed out, from our receipt, the first and last names of the bartender who served our table. With that information, we found her Facebook page. And from there we could learn the the cities she had lived in and the high school from which she graduated. In a time when social media and the internet makes it super easy to intrude on people's privacy, I think Frankie's owner should be more careful about the identifying info put on a receipt about an employee. read more

We were literally "just passing through" on our way to someplace else when we stopped on a whim for an early dinner. The sign out front says "Frankie's On the Tracks." Didn't know it was called Frankie's Pizza until later, when I wanted to write this review. Anyway, we had skipped lunch and were pretty hungry. Boy, did we pick the right place. The daily special was an open face prime rib sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. Standard diner food, right? Wrong! This thing was not only delicious but huge! It filled the plate and was piled high! I took one look at it and knew I had dinner and tomorrow's lunch too. The shaved prime rib was wonderful, served on a thick slab of Texas toast. The mountain of mashed potatoes were real and covered with rich beef gravy. I forced myself to stop halfway through, thinking of the next day's lunch. A great meal. My wife had the lasagna, recommended by our server, Sydney, who told us that she serves a lot of them. The lasagna, which was delicious, arrived in a bowl, a very large bowl. My wife looked at the volume of pasta and sauce and wondered where she was going put all of it. She did her best, but there was at least a lunch's worth remaining. I tasted her dinner, she tasted mine and we agreed that we're swapping dishes for that next day's lunch! The only other thing I should mention is the selection of draft beers they have on tap. They have a few of the usual light beers and six or seven craft beers. Unlike many restaurants, their selection is not tilted heavily to IPAs. There are one or two, but they also have a stout, a good Oktoberfest ale, a cider and a couple more to choose from. Don't know when or if we find ourselves going through Three Rivers again, but if we do, Frankie's will be on the itinerary! read more

The fried mushrooms were fine, but I was very disappointed with the pizzas - specifically the dough, which seemed to be store bought pizza crust - very thick and dry. The Rehearsal Dinner was here. We were running 2 hours late and they STILL held the caboose for us, provided separate/group checks, and accomodated all of our quirks. I was very pleased with this place. Our server was a calm cool liquid pool of serenity in the face of all of these starving, demanding wedding participants. I ordered the merlot and the fettucine alfredo. I could almost swear that the fettucine was home-made and the alfredo sauce had been stirred and coaxed along to that level of creaminess for hours. THAT WAS A DELICIOUS ALFREDO! There were other group appetizers that circulated: wings, fried mushrooms, onion rings, etc. They were oh-so-tasty, too. And the fresh, warm bread with the honey butter is not to be missed. If you're ever in Three Rivers, Michigan and hungry, do not pass this place by. By the way, its right across the street from the new location of the Hair Designers so get your hair done first, then hit up Frankie's Pizza for a meal. You will not be sorry. Frankie's is a Three Rivers institution. I'm not sure exactly how long it's been around, but long enough that I remember going there as a very little kid when I was spending time at a camp outside of Three Rivers, and that's 25+ years ago. Back then we kids always wanted to sit in the caboose, but nowadays I just go for the decent food and service. Their pizzas are pretty tasty, and they've got a good selection of other things, too. At my most recent visit, my sister and I both had the chicken taco salad (and were quite pleased) and my broth-er-in-law an enormous portion of lasagna. For appetizers we had their cheesy bread...somehow they do it better than other places. All of this and one or two sodas set me back all of $38. There are not that many places to eat in Three Rivers, and this is one of the better ones. read more

Frankie's is another one of those small town gems that I always took for granted growing up, however miss now that I have moved away to the "big city". Most of Frankie's food is home cooked goodness, however you cannot go to Frankie's without ordering their pizza. Frankie's is old school putting the toppings under the cheese, I remember that most as a child. They don't skimp on the toppings and like most small town pizzas they are all about the round pizza with the square slices. Their beer battered onion rings and friend mushrooms are a heart attack waiting to happen, however worth the extra miles on the treadmill required afterwards. In addition, they have a full bar with a very large selection of beer for a small town. Finally, the best part about Frankie's from childhood is the caboose. Frankie's is nestled every so comfortably right next to the main train track in town, so every 15 minutes or so during your meal you will hear a slow freight train pass with the dinging of the railroad crossing. Instead of being annoyed Frankie's embraced what would normally be a location killer by adding on a section of the restaurant that is an old train car-its called the caboose. There are multiple tables in the caboose and can be reserved for parties. If you are in Three Rivers for some random reason, not sure what that would be, but if you are get Frankie's pizza, Yum! read more

I tried this place before the makeover when I was a kid. Then tried it after the Food Network came in, it was pretty good! I would have given them 4 stars. But now, under new management, no way. First, we sat down and overheard a table next to us say they had been there for an hour and had not received their food. We ordered onion rings as an appetizer, and got ranch to dip them in. The ranch tasted funny to us, so we mentioned something to our server. She said that they didn't have a fridge for sauces or lids for the sauces, so they keep them in the same cooler as all the other food (like raw meat). DON'T EAT THE RANCH!!!! The food we ordered was a large Frankie's Special and a burger. The burger was pink on the inside, seriously undercooked. The pizza was cooked at a high temperature for a shirt amount of time, making the crust chewy, not crispy. Overall, if you want to eat cross-contaminated food, undercooked meat, and so-so pizza at a high price, this is your place. But I suggest looking elsewhere in the area. read more

Pizza-Delicious Beer selection-Every macrobrew in America, but not 1 craft brew even though they have several local breweries that make exceptional beers. Not one bells, new holland, founders or even a new castle was to be found. Wine selection-sutter home and Woodbridge. Enough said. Service-Very pleasant and quick. Frankie's you have such tasty pizza that I would make a stop out of my way when traveling through Michigan if you just step up your beer and/or wine selection. read more

A hostess finally took it but with no one behind the bar it was not filled for another 10 minutes. Had to physically walk around the restaurant to find someone to pour our beers. My husband & I went there on a date the other night. It was disappointing. When we arrived, there were people at only two other tables. Yet it still took over 45 minutes to get our food. We didn't order anything too difficult either- just a plate of breaded mushrooms for our appetizer, and a burger & a chicken item off their specials menu board for our entrees. The mushrooms were delicious, but our entrees were lacking flavor. We were pretty bummed with the meal. We went to Frankie's back when Robert Irvine had transformed the place. We had both loved our meals at that time. We had thought he had made the place classy looking & the menu a par above the other restaurants in town. When we went the other day, we noticed that the place is already beginning to look run-down. The tacky beer signs were back up also. The menu has changed since then too. We couldn't find either of the meals on the menu that we had had back then. And the meals we did order were not very tasty. Robert Irvine would be ashamed of the place now I think. read more
