Traveling to the Gulf Coast from SW OH & Franklin TN was a good approximation of the 1/2 way point of the trip. After checking into our motel and relaxing for a while, I looked at the Guest Services Directory and saw the Franklin Chop House listed as a nearby restaurant. Checked the Yelp reviews and menu and decided to give it try as my wife and I like to avoid chain restaurants when possible while traveling. Couldn't have made a better decision than to have dinner there. Called ahead to see if reservations were available and was told they are a 1st come 1st seated restaurant and the wait time was approximately 30 minutes. After arriving at the restaurant the hostess took my name and we had about a 20 minute wait to be seated. Our server was Janeen and she was great. Ordered house margaritas to drink while waiting for our food. Fresh tasting and well balanced. I had the 1/2 rack of ribs with fries and coleslaw. The wife a chicken quesadilla with a side of mac and cheese. My sister had the beef pot roast with mashed potatoes. Everyone's entree was well prepared and delicious. If I'm ever in the area again I'll be stopping in for dinner again. read more

On business and we made this one of our places we were going to eat for the night. We had reservations but there really wasn't that many people there this evening. We could have gotten a table just walking in. The menu is pretty large but not so large you really struggle to find what you want to eat. After looking over a few other reviews of here I settled on the Louisiana Shrimp and Crawfish over red beans and rice. Everyone else got something else different but everything looked really phenomenal. My meal was perfect down to my fried Okra side. The server was not there too much but by the time we needed something he was there. Side note: he looked like the guy from office space. No real need to put that in there but if you go.. it will make sense. I did not order any drinks from the bar but everyone else did. They were pretty pleased with their drinks and how they were made. The decor is not the newest or the oldest. I did enjoy how the place was set up and how fast everything was. I would recommended you try this place once. I had the salmon, but it was missing acid and it was barely warm. It had a good flavor, but the waiter didn't check on us, so I couldn't ask for lemon. I had to use salt. It was fine, but we were celebrating our anniversary, and I figured the word "chophouse" was going to give us an upscale steakhouse experience. Found this little gem while visiting Franklin. I was searching through Yelp reviews when I saw their special on Friday nights was Prime Rib. I was sold. When you drive up, the building puts off a very relaxed and welcoming vibe. Kinda like, walking into a family gathering with folks you've never met. I was afraid I would be under dressed since I had been thrifting all day... it's Nashville in July, no body is feeling like wearing anything but sunscreen around here... I managed to wear some track shorts and a tee shirt. My makeup was gone the moment I walked out of the hotel. Welcome to hell. I mean, welcome to Nashville. Now, I may have been underdressed but I was never made to feel it. Very welcoming staff. The food. They bring biscuits to the table. I'm from the south where I grew up on "Mamaw's biscuits" so I was not really impressed by the looks of these. However, they were exceptionally tasty. I ordered the Prime Rib with fried okra and mashed potatoes. My SO ordered the ribeye, salad, and fried okra. Perfection! Everything. Perfect. They have raw and creamy horseradish for the prime rib. My husband and I have been coming here since our first date several years ago. This is a great family and simple date restaurant. We've never had anything bad here, but my favorite dish is the Rattlesnake Chicken Pasta. Such a great kick while being filling. We lived near Chop House for more than 20 years, and this local mainstay has been here a long time. Years ago, we visited with some regularity. It was a good choice for a salad, simple entree with some vegetables, etc. Then years ago, I developed a garlic sensitivity, and the chef here seemed to be in love with that particular seasoning in every single dish.... So we went elsewhere. Recently we decided to stop in and try again. Inside was exactly the same. The menu was exactly the same. Nice crowd, short wait, decent service. But this time I had ordered very, very carefully to avoid garlic, which I did. But this time, we just were not impressed. It was OK, just not special. The spinach dip app seemed to be direct from Sysco, chips were equally blah. I ordered a chicken sandwich that was literally chicken tenders grilled on hard toast with shredded cheese sprinkled on top not melted. No sauce that was detectable, and this was supposed to be a melt. I did enjoy the mashed sweet potatoes. Hubby's burger was good with no issues. Glad it's still there, and local. Horrible experience. We arrived at 7:40 on 5/31/23. Wonderful greeting by who I assume was a manager. Upon being seated things went left. Far left. We ordered the fried calamari to which you can see in the pictures were so over cooked you could barely chew them. However you didn't have time bc literally two minutes later entrées came out - not even enough time to attempt to chew the fried rubber. I ordered my steak medium rare, however it was barely cooked, basically still moo'ing. The broccoli was barely cooked and cold. I had rice on the side also, "seasoned rice" which you can't tell me it wasn't Uncle Ben's 90 second rice from a bag, coming in a huge bowl, it's a side item that should be plated on the side or on the plate in a ramekin as sides like that or the creamed spinach usually comes at this location. Tenders were also over cooked and dry along with cold Mac n cheese. We've had so many meals here but I wish hadn't spent the money on something basically inedible. However we felt so rushed to leave by the waitress that asking for a manager would have been too much. This location is so convenient for us as we live around the corner, but we will take our business elsewhere if Chop is going downhill this way. Three glasses of wine, a cocktail, one app, a steak and a chicken meal certainly wasn't cheap. Highly disappointed- management certainly needs to address food prep and address rushing customers to leave. Again we arrived almost 1.5 hours before they closed and never "linger". Won't be returning for many of said reasons and it saddens me. We USED to love chop. read more

We have been coming to Chop house for years. Service has been great and food usually good. The pork chops with ginger and soy(menu item) has always been a fav. Last 3 times being there pork chops dry no ginger and soy sauce. Not sure why they changed but they shouldn't have. You had a winner with them before but now a big loser. This is a Franklin TN institution, they have been in the same spot since 1999/2000 or so. Been eating there for 20+ years now, place hasn't changed one bit except for the prices. Menu is still the same as in 1999, god help me if it ever changed lol. Had dinner there in late April 2023, already knew before I got in the car what I wanted, beef medallions with garlic mashed potatoes and gravy. With a side of fried okra. I mean this was a sort of non-fatty thin sliced cut of beef that melted with a butter knife when you cut it, gravy over the mashed taters and beef, okra fried just perfect. It might not be a traditional "meat and 3" type of place but all the veggie sides are so well prepared I group it into that category. Paxton was our server, cute young blonde dude. Provided us exceptional service on our last visit back in late April 2023. Main thing that keeps me coming back here for the last 20 years is the consistency. Never had a bad meal from Franklin Chop House. Also I love that this place has kind of dated decor and is not in the least bit pretentious. It means the food is freaking AWESOME!!!! read more

We ordered the Reuben with fried okra, the corned beef was very lean and the marbled the marbled rye bread was delicious! The Chop House Original burger was also very good, perfectly cooked and the veggie toppings were super fresh. The man who took our order over the phone was very polite and made sure to confirm our order with us before hanging up. A wide variety of American and other main dishes. I had the pot roast and it was great. My friend could not believe I had not been and is a staple for his businesses lunches. I love this place. It has a home-y kind of feel to it, the staff is super nice, and the food is so good! They bring you break and honey butter to your table to start. Yum! We ordered the spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer tonight and it was fantastic as always. It's a good size and is spot on with flavor. For our main dish we order the Blackened Fettuccine Alfredo and the Chicken Parm. Both were delicious and perfectly cooked. My fettuccine was creamy and the toast that comes with it is so buttery and crisp. I definitely recommend it. Our server was super sweet and the person who brought our food to our table was super nice to. He stayed and spoke to us for a few minutes. If you haven't been here in a while I would definitely say that you should consider coming back in. My boyfriend said he had come here a few years ago and wasn't impressed so we stayed away for awhile. We randomly stopped in one evening a while back and now we come here often because we like it so much. It's not a trendy Nashville hot spot but it's definitely charming and has great food. read more

The biscuits were over cooked and my sandwich was inedible- but I say it is ok because my husband loved his burger and the sweet potato fries were good. It's a nice place to meet without someone to discuss something at a business casual place with minimal interruptions, but the food isn't anything major to write home about. Every time I've been I've been met with great service, kind smiles, decent prices and no issues, so it gets 4 stars from me. The food just hasn't gone above and beyond yet.
