Smoked meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans
    Anne W.

I had dinner at Pucketts last week with two friends. It is one of my favorite places in Franklin. The dining area is cozy and welcoming. We even commented that we felt like we were sitting around someone's kitchen table we were so comfortable. The food is good home cooking! I had the smoked meatloaf this time and it was amazing! The peach cobbler for dessert was warm and yummy. If you're in Franklin, don't pass this up!

Great service and food at this cute neighborhood gem in Franklin. Franklin is the cutest town and Pucketts matches that vibe with strong southern hospitality. Everything was fantastic from the old fashioned cocktail to every item on the appetizer sampler. The sampler had pimento cheese balls with pepper Jelly, fried green tomatoes, some of the best pickles I've ever had, saltine crackers, smoked sausage and this amazing ball of goodness called boudin. Everything was perfection! The shrimp and grits with collard greens was lick the bowl good! The catfish is what they are known for and it did not disappoint. A huge hunk of flakey fish with the crispiest corneal crust. The fruit cobbler dessert was full of berries and well balanced with a not too sweet crust! Only thing was we wished they had live music! Worth the drive!

10/10 recommend the Music City Hot Chicken Sandwich! The chicken was so tender and flavorful and I loved that it was served on Texas toast. We went on a Sunday at lunchtime and they were busy, but we were seated quickly and the service was great!

People love this place and it comes highly recommended. The restaurant has good vibes, you'll hear chatter about everything under the sun son, glass clanking, laughter, and people coming in and out all evening. The service is helpful. Overall my food was just okay, the menu has these little pointing fingers for their popular meals. I don't eat much meatloaf, honestly it is very rare that that me eating meatloaf happens. I decided to go for it and....i make better meatloaf in the rare occasion I make it. Disappointing loading. The mashed potatoes were decent and the gravy good. After that I don't know what to think, and the cobbler mediocre at best. Would I visit again? You likely wouldn't guess that I would say "yes would". BUT I'm trying something totally different!!!

We eat breakfast at Puckett's often. And this is one of those "if you know, you know" situations. I order a bowl of their grits and have them top it with two eggs over easy. That's it. No hacks, no substitutions, no overthinking it, just a quietly elite Southern breakfast move that feels like it deserves its own line on the menu. The foundation is what makes it work. The grits here are genuinely excellent, creamy, well-seasoned, and clearly made with intention. And it's not a small scoop either; the bowl is three side orders of grits. This is not a light breakfast situation. One practical note: they're thick enough that they show up without a spoon. Not a complaint, just a moment of "respect the density." Once you break the yolks, though, everything loosens up into that rich, cohesive, borderline dangerous comfort food zone. What stands out is how unbothered the kitchen is about it. It comes out clean, properly executed, no questions asked, as if this is just a completely normal, correct way to eat breakfast. Bottom line: simple, rooted in Southern tradition, and easily one of the best ways to experience Puckett's grits.

I used to take customers to the downtown location all the time for lunch. It was always good. We were in town visiting and made reservations for dinner and to see the Friday night music. Our meals were really good. The half rack of ribs were tender, moist, and fell off the bone. The sides, potato salad and baked beans, both delicious. The mojo pasta with shrimp, chicken, and sausage in creole sauce was outstanding as well. Our waitress was attentive helpful with menu suggestions. I highly recommend both our dinner items. Oh, the music act was excellent. Loved the whole experience.

You can't come to Nashville and not come to Puckett's. We met up with some friends here for breakfast and it's was beyond amazing! Our waiter was great and helpful, as Soon as we got there she got our drinks order in & I got Their sweet tea to start off was so refreshing. Their food selection is mind blowing I ended up getting their Brisket Hash and it was the perfect combo and the flavors were great. We also got their Kings French toast these ARE a MUST the peanut butter flavor just makes them so good and not overly sweet but just right. Let's just say we licked the plates clean. The food here is just Simply Delicious! The ambiance here is great in the weekends they have live music as well and have a stage for that as well. Their little shop with souvenirs is great, lots of merch and different t-shirts, caps and mugs and more. Their bathrooms were clean a little snug in there but clean overall. Great for big groups but make a reservation beforehand to guarantee you a spot. Can't wait to be back! If you are in town come enjoy this Gem

There is street parking available in front of and around the restaurant. We went on a week night and were able to be seated right away. It has an old grocery store feel but also fun with the ode to music. The service was really good, our waitress was lovely, efficient and checked in often. My husband and I shared the sampler. I really enjoyed the brisket, chicken and sausage. I wasn't a fan of the ham. I really liked the baked beans and potato salad. My husband enjoyed the collard greens and chicken and was happy it wasn't salty. We will definitely come back and hopefully on a live music night.

My husband and I were in Franklin last weekend for our niece's wedding, she lives there. We ate at Puckett's 3 lunches on a row. I had my first fried green tomatoes and they were so delicious I had them each time we went! My husband had been a couple times before but it was my first time. Can't wait to go back!! The service was absolutely fantastic. We like to sit at the bar and chat. Lainey took care of us the first day, then Dee, then Tristan. So personable and friendly, they made our trip. Thank you!!!

The food was good. The atmosphere was great and the service was superb. We started with the brisket chilli and it was good but more like a brisket stew. For supper I got the shrimp and grits, it was tasty especially the collards on top is a nice touch. The grits were seasoned well but a little too thick. I had better before in Alabama but these were good. My husband had the trout and he liked it. My daughter had the salad and added grilled chicken. Our friends had chicken fried breast and fried chicken. Everything was good.

We absolutely love Puckett's -- it's our go-to spot whenever we're in Franklin. I can always count on finding a Jackalope Bear Walker on tap (thank you for that!). This visit was extra special because we arrived on a night with three singer-songwriters performing -- such a fun experience! The dining room and stage create an intimate, cozy vibe that makes you feel right at home. Service is always amazing here, and this night was no exception. We started with the pimento cheese bites, served with pepper jelly -- so good! For mains, I had the Homemade Chicken Salad Sandwich and loved the crunch of pecans and sweetness of grapes. My tablemate had the Chicken Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans -- absolutely delicious. Portions are generous, and the food feels like something your grandmother would make. We peeked at the dessert menu but were too full this time. Breakfast is still on our list for next visit -- can't wait!

It's a counter service joint; you walk up, order, and then someone runs the food to your table. First off, they asked for a point of service tip; that bugs me when I'm ordering my own food at the counter and fetching my own drinks. The menu is fairly standard for a southern BBA joint; brisket, pulled pork, ribs, turkey, chicken. I am generally suspicious of any place that offers chopped brisket. Brisket is meant to be sliced and enjoyed as a slab of meat, not as a pile of hash. So, the chopped brisket sandwich was out for me. I asked if the brisket platter would be served as slices, and they assured me it was, so I ordered brisket with two sides. They recommended the beans and the Mac 'n cheese, so that's what I went with. They also asked me if I wanted the meat lean, marbled, or half and half; I took that as a good sign, and asked for marbled. They food came out in about 5 mins; just enough time for me to head to the soda fountain and fill my own cup. Maybe they should tip me? On the plus side, the portions were pretty large. I'm guessing that the served at least 6-8 ounces of brisket, and the individual sides were pretty large as well. On the other hand, whoever sliced the brisket simply didn't know what they were doing. They sliced it WITH the grain, producing slices full of stringy meat. Stringy meat that was hard to cut with the plastic cutlery provided. I find it hard to believe that anyone who regularly serves BBQ brisket doesn't know to cut the meat against the grain. The meat appeared to feature a nice bark; however, on further exploration, a) the bark was so tough that it couldn't be cut as all with the plastic cutlery, and b) when I tore into it with my fingers and ate a piece, it had no taste. Not even a basic Texas salt and pepper rub could be detected. A large portion of tasteless, poorly cut meat does no one any favors. The beans were a little underdone; IMHO, that's far better than mushy, overcooked beans. However, they, too, had no flavor. No spice, nada. The mac and cheese was shells in a white cheese sauce. Strike 3; zero flavor for the sauce. I don't know how you can make cheese sauce without flavor, but they managed to do so. I have never, ever thrown as much food away at a a BBQ joint than I did today. What a shame. Not recommended, not even a little bit. Try Martin's or Edley's; if you prefer a chain, Mission BBQ will do you much better than Hogwood.

I ordered the Tri-Star platter, which came with pulled pork, brisket, and pulled chicken. All three meats were tender and flavorful. Don't be shy with the BBQ sauce, it really takes everything to the next level. The platter comes with two sides. I chose one vegetable, baked beans, and one fruit, banana pudding. For those not from the South, macaroni and cheese is considered a vegetable, and banana pudding is absolutely a fruit. That's just science around here! The meal also included cornbread and slaw, making for a hearty plate of food. Everything was very good, portions were generous, and the service was excellent. Overall, a great BBQ experience with tasty food, friendly service, and plenty of seating options. I'd definitely come back hungry!

I found myself over at Bellevue for dinner, 2 hours before my hockey game. I wanted quality food…read morebut not super carb heavy but also not something that could potentially wreck my stomach. After all, can you imagine having digestive problems while playing hockey? I love barbecue so I thought I'd try this place. I walked in and it wasn't at all busy at 5:32. However when I finished my order, the line was out the door. I asked the cashier what was good and the manager (maybe owner) walked over and I asked him. I wanted ribs or brisket, but needed a 2nd opinion. He said he would choose brisket because theirs is USDA Prime and he would put it against any other barbecue restaurant in Tennessee. Those are some bold words. So I ordered the brisket platter (fatty portion) with green beans and cinnamon baked apples. What I received was 3 good sized portions (1/2 pound) of fatty brisket. The meat was tender, melt in your mouth without an overbearing amount of fat clumped together. The bark was salty and very peppery. It was actually good enough to eat without a sauce. Speaking of, there was only one sauce on the table, so I used that. It was a sweet sauce, definitely honey-based but not overly sweet like other honey-based sauces I've had in the past. The thing is I love everything honey-related, so I would definitely buy this to take home. It was so good, I was scavenging for brisket fibers on my plate. So I praised the brisket but I think the shocker was the green beans. These were hands down, the best green beans I've ever had...ever. Salty, tender, peppery, with chunks of meat and fat, sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. Who would have thought that a side could be that good? Last but not least, the Cinnamon Baked Apples. I love baked/fried apples. Something about the tart and sweetness brings me back every time. The apples were soft, but not mushy. I would have liked them to be a little more tender and more slices of apples. I think there was more sauce than apples but nevertheless, they were great. Overall I'm glad I visited Honeyfire for the first time. I'm here often (near Bellevue) so I'll definitely be coming back again and again.

The second meat changes throughout the week, which keeps things interesting for repeat customers. I've worked my way through all of the sides, and the fried okra is easily my favorite. It's consistently served hot and crispy, though I think a signature seasoning blend would make it even better. The macaroni and cheese is another standout, although I've occasionally received it lukewarm. The sweet potato fries are also enjoyable but could use a little more crispness, and I think they'd really shine with a house-made dipping sauce like a hot honey mustard. The green beans appear to be canned, which doesn't personally bother me, but they leave an unusual aftertaste that keeps me from ordering them often. The collard greens have good flavor but tend to include more stems than I'd prefer. The baked beans lean savory rather than sweet, which may appeal to some diners, though I usually prefer sweeter baked beans with barbecue. The mashed potatoes are simple and would benefit from the option of either cream gravy or brown gravy. One item that always kept me coming back was the chicken fingers. For a long time, they were some of my favorites in the area--crispy, flavorful, and good enough that I've driven out from Nashville just to order them. Recently, however, the breading seems to have changed, and they haven't quite been the same. The onion rings are another reliable choice, arriving consistently crispy, though I think they'd be even better paired with a signature dipping sauce or seasoning. Overall, I think the atmosphere is what makes Fox & Lock special. The staff is consistently welcoming, the live music is excellent, and it's an important part of the Leipers Fork community. If you're visiting the area for the music or exploring the town, it's absolutely worth stopping in for a meal. While I don't think the food alone is worth making a special trip from Nashville, it's enjoyable comfort food in a fun setting and a place I'm sure I'll continue to visit.

Visited Edley's in Nolensville on a Monday night with my husband and three young kids. I've been to…read moreall of the Edley's locations around Nashville, but this one is by far the best for families, mostly because of the outdoor play area. Parking was super easy, and the woman at the counter was friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were clean, and the restaurant itself is spacious with plenty of tables and room to spread out, which is always appreciated when dining with little kids. My kids played outside while we waited for our food, but the food came out quickly. The kids' meals are some of the best values in town. One tip: the bun on the kids' cheeseburger is huge compared to the patty. I asked if they could add an extra patty, and they did for just $1. After removing some of the bun, it made for a much better burger and still kept the meal incredibly affordable. The spicy chicken tacos are also some of the best tacos in town. Our family of five ate for about $50. We usually buy Edley's gift cards at Costco, so our actual cost was closer to $40. It's refreshing to have a restaurant in Nashville that truly welcomes families while still serving great food. Highly recommend for anyone dining with kids.
