Here's the revised version with no bold text and no em dashes: If Broadway is Nashville at its loudest, Puckett's Grocery & Restaurant is Nashville at its most comfortable. Located in a quieter, more bookish neighborhood, this was the perfect follow-up to a night of Broadway chaos during a work trip. Founded in the 1950s as a country grocery, Puckett's still has that warm, old-school ambience, but the food is absolutely fine-dining quality. The Sampler Platter is the way to go. Every appetizer was a hit. The shrimp and grits were creamy, savory, and perfectly executed. Relaxed, local, and genuinely excellent. Live music is limited to weekends and Third Thursdays at this location, which keeps the vibe calm and conversational.

I used to take customers to the downtown location all the time for lunch. It was always good. We were in town visiting and made reservations for dinner and to see the Friday night music. Our meals were really good. The half rack of ribs were tender, moist, and fell off the bone. The sides, potato salad and baked beans, both delicious. The mojo pasta with shrimp, chicken, and sausage in creole sauce was outstanding as well. Our waitress was attentive helpful with menu suggestions. I highly recommend both our dinner items. Oh, the music act was excellent. Loved the whole experience.

Great service and food at this cute neighborhood gem in Franklin. Franklin is the cutest town and Pucketts matches that vibe with strong southern hospitality. Everything was fantastic from the old fashioned cocktail to every item on the appetizer sampler. The sampler had pimento cheese balls with pepper Jelly, fried green tomatoes, some of the best pickles I've ever had, saltine crackers, smoked sausage and this amazing ball of goodness called boudin. Everything was perfection! The shrimp and grits with collard greens was lick the bowl good! The catfish is what they are known for and it did not disappoint. A huge hunk of flakey fish with the crispiest corneal crust. The fruit cobbler dessert was full of berries and well balanced with a not too sweet crust! Only thing was we wished they had live music! Worth the drive!

10/10 recommend the Music City Hot Chicken Sandwich! The chicken was so tender and flavorful and I loved that it was served on Texas toast. We went on a Sunday at lunchtime and they were busy, but we were seated quickly and the service was great!

People love this place and it comes highly recommended. The restaurant has good vibes, you'll hear chatter about everything under the sun son, glass clanking, laughter, and people coming in and out all evening. The service is helpful. Overall my food was just okay, the menu has these little pointing fingers for their popular meals. I don't eat much meatloaf, honestly it is very rare that that me eating meatloaf happens. I decided to go for it and....i make better meatloaf in the rare occasion I make it. Disappointing loading. The mashed potatoes were decent and the gravy good. After that I don't know what to think, and the cobbler mediocre at best. Would I visit again? You likely wouldn't guess that I would say "yes would". BUT I'm trying something totally different!!!

You can't come to Nashville and not come to Puckett's. We met up with some friends here for breakfast and it's was beyond amazing! Our waiter was great and helpful, as Soon as we got there she got our drinks order in & I got Their sweet tea to start off was so refreshing. Their food selection is mind blowing I ended up getting their Brisket Hash and it was the perfect combo and the flavors were great. We also got their Kings French toast these ARE a MUST the peanut butter flavor just makes them so good and not overly sweet but just right. Let's just say we licked the plates clean. The food here is just Simply Delicious! The ambiance here is great in the weekends they have live music as well and have a stage for that as well. Their little shop with souvenirs is great, lots of merch and different t-shirts, caps and mugs and more. Their bathrooms were clean a little snug in there but clean overall. Great for big groups but make a reservation beforehand to guarantee you a spot. Can't wait to be back! If you are in town come enjoy this Gem

We stopped here to break up our drive to Destin Florida. It was perfect and exactly what we hoped for! We were running late to our reservation but were able to sit right away and it wasn't super busy (6pm on a Saturday). Food was great and live music was awesome! Not crazy loud or rowdy so perfect for the family and still able to have a conversation. Kids loved the burger and Mac n cheese. Fries did have a sweet seasoning that wasn't a favorite. Ribs were ok and brisket was great! Cobb salad with fried chicken was super yummy and homemade ranch dressing was great!! Highly recommend.

The food was good. The atmosphere was great and the service was superb. We started with the brisket chilli and it was good but more like a brisket stew. For supper I got the shrimp and grits, it was tasty especially the collards on top is a nice touch. The grits were seasoned well but a little too thick. I had better before in Alabama but these were good. My husband had the trout and he liked it. My daughter had the salad and added grilled chicken. Our friends had chicken fried breast and fried chicken. Everything was good.

There is street parking available in front of and around the restaurant. We went on a week night and were able to be seated right away. It has an old grocery store feel but also fun with the ode to music. The service was really good, our waitress was lovely, efficient and checked in often. My husband and I shared the sampler. I really enjoyed the brisket, chicken and sausage. I wasn't a fan of the ham. I really liked the baked beans and potato salad. My husband enjoyed the collard greens and chicken and was happy it wasn't salty. We will definitely come back and hopefully on a live music night.

We absolutely love Puckett's -- it's our go-to spot whenever we're in Franklin. I can always count on finding a Jackalope Bear Walker on tap (thank you for that!). This visit was extra special because we arrived on a night with three singer-songwriters performing -- such a fun experience! The dining room and stage create an intimate, cozy vibe that makes you feel right at home. Service is always amazing here, and this night was no exception. We started with the pimento cheese bites, served with pepper jelly -- so good! For mains, I had the Homemade Chicken Salad Sandwich and loved the crunch of pecans and sweetness of grapes. My tablemate had the Chicken Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans -- absolutely delicious. Portions are generous, and the food feels like something your grandmother would make. We peeked at the dessert menu but were too full this time. Breakfast is still on our list for next visit -- can't wait!

Known for their Southern home recipes,I knew I had to eat at their location in Franklin. They have some of the best slow cooked BBQ in the state. We stopped in for lunch and were seated immediately. The waitress was very friendly and suggested I try their Puckett's Brew which was a nice light lager. I couldn't decide on which appetizer I wanted so I ordered their Cherry Smoked wings with whiskey glaze and Pimento cheese bites with pepper jelly. Both were amazing. On each table they have bottles of their BBQ sauces and Pepper sauce. They were so good I purchased a few of them. My wife had the Cherry Smoked Pulled Pork Taco Salad. She loved it! With locations throughout Tennessee and Alabama, this is a must stop to try their slow cooked BBQ!

Stopped in on 10/11 while visiting Franklin! The wait was wild as they were super busy which was understandable. The food was great, they give you such a large portion. The staff were all friendly as well! Shoutout Hannah, you were super sweet!

I wanted to sample more of the menu, so I ordered the smoked turkey with their popular "comeback sauce". The sandwich was very good, but I'd suggest the sauce on the side as I wasn't a fan! If you're in the mood for spice, try the hot chicken sandwich. The burgers were also well liked by our table. Very nice restaurant!…read more We had reservations at 7:45, checked in early and were seated on arrival. Upon entering the restaurant it seemed swamped but the staff was well prepared for the guests. Our server, was amazing! (I'm ashamed we didn't remember his name, Paul maybe). Nonetheless, he knew the menu, the specials, the drinks, and suggestions! We loved each and everyone of the suggestions and choices we made. Our dining experience started with the signature old fashion followed by a bottle of Heitz Cellars Cabernet! We ordered the lamb and brisket buns. Both were savory, delicious and well prepared. Followed by their Sushi Roll. It was described as "if you love sushi, you've never had anything like this." (I've had a ton of Sushi all over the world, and this was a spectacular Hamachi Roll.) we rounded out our meal with the Butternut Burrata and bread basket and a Beef Tenderloin. It was cooked to perfection and able to be cut with a fork. (I am salivating thinking about how perfectly it was prepared.) Just when we thought it couldn't be any better our server suggested we look at the dessert menu. He tempted me with a blood orange sorbet followed by a peanut butter chocolate pie. AMAZING! The fun thing was, I consumed the Heitz Cabernet throughout my entire meal - all the way through dessert. My high remarks to the chef and the staff because this team knows how to please and perform flawlessly!

The place is beautiful, but we were seated in the least interesting area. My friend said it used to be an open patio and was renovated for more indoor seating, which makes sense, but it lacked any real atmosphere. When I am spending this kind of money I want a slow, leisurly pace, and this felt rushed. Yes, we probably could have asked the waiter to slow things down, but we didn't. I ordered a specialty cocktail - the Midnight Sun that was delish - it was layered and around $16. The waiter then brought out what ended up being the highlight of the meal, a little treat from the chef. It was a creamy gnocchi dish to share, about three pieces each, super rich and honestly I could have eaten 20 more. We also spilt the bread flight. The bread was good but I wasn't a fan of the spreads, I'm a BUTTER person, these were more like bean spreads. The brussels sprouts with pork were also really good. Hubby and I split a mixed green salad that was pretty mediocre, and the croutons were almost too hard to chew. Then came the pork, which was a dissapointment. It was so tough it actually got caught in my throat a couple times despite chewing it well. We didn't even finish it. For the price, it should have been tender and full of flavor, and it was neither. My friend ordered the duck pasta and said it had "weird pieces of meat" in it. Her husband got the filet and loved it, so at least someone at the table was happy. We skipped dessert after most of us had disappointing entrees. I guess the good news is they rotate the menu every few months, so maybe it would be a totally different experience next time.

The offerings by day are listed on their website. Plates can be ordered as meat only or meat plus one, two, or three sides. Veggies plates are an option. They even have a family meal option. Cobblers and pies are available for dessert. I would rate the food quality and taste at 3/5. The portions are generous for the price which is why I bumped to a 4/5. It's decent enough for a large, cheap meal. The Fried Chicken was good. It's not the best I've had, but good if you want something quick. The Chicken and Dumplings was good, a little on the soupier side. The sides were my favorite part. The Carrot Soufflé was my favorite with a sugary topping. The Squash Casserole had a nice taste. The Mashed Potatoes were creamy and buttery. The Green Beans had a nice texture and taste. Nothing here is going to be heavily seasoned, just simple flavors. The Pecan Pie was really good. I went with the Hogwood Sampler which comes with chicken, sausage, ribs, brisket, and pulled pork, plus mac-n-cheese on the side. All in it was $27.89 plus tax, which feels like pretty fair market value for the amount and quality of food you're getting. The food itself was incredible. Way too many barbecue places lean way too hard on sauce to do the heavy lifting. That is not the case here. Every single meat had deep, legit smoky flavor on its own and honestly didn't even need sauce. That said, the sauces were also excellent. The Alabama white paired perfectly with the chicken, and the spicy tomato-based red sauce had a great kick without overpowering anything. Drink selection was another pleasant surprise. They've got Coke products and Tractor Organic Beverages. I mixed their unsweet tea with the Tractor mango and made myself a mango tea that worked way better than it had any right to. If I had to nitpick, the side selection is a little limited for my personal taste. I'm always hoping for fries or hush puppies, though to be fair that's not uncommon for BBQ joints around here. I also ran into a sticky spot on the table that clearly hadn't been fully wiped down from a previous guest. That said, the food was good enough that it still lands as a five-star experience for me. Hogwood BBQ is an excellent choice if you're looking for seriously good barbecue in Franklin.

The menu is fairly standard for a southern BBA joint; brisket, pulled pork, ribs, turkey, chicken. I am generally suspicious of any place that offers chopped brisket. Brisket is meant to be sliced and enjoyed as a slab of meat, not as a pile of hash. So, the chopped brisket sandwich was out for me. I asked if the brisket platter would be served as slices, and they assured me it was, so I ordered brisket with two sides. They recommended the beans and the Mac 'n cheese, so that's what I went with. They also asked me if I wanted the meat lean, marbled, or half and half; I took that as a good sign, and asked for marbled. They food came out in about 5 mins; just enough time for me to head to the soda fountain and fill my own cup. Maybe they should tip me? On the plus side, the portions were pretty large. I'm guessing that the served at least 6-8 ounces of brisket, and the individual sides were pretty large as well. On the other hand, whoever sliced the brisket simply didn't know what they were doing. They sliced it WITH the grain, producing slices full of stringy meat. Stringy meat that was hard to cut with the plastic cutlery provided. I find it hard to believe that anyone who regularly serves BBQ brisket doesn't know to cut the meat against the grain. The meat appeared to feature a nice bark; however, on further exploration, a) the bark was so tough that it couldn't be cut as all with the plastic cutlery, and b) when I tore into it with my fingers and ate a piece, it had no taste. Not even a basic Texas salt and pepper rub could be detected. A large portion of tasteless, poorly cut meat does no one any favors. The beans were a little underdone; IMHO, that's far better than mushy, overcooked beans. However, they, too, had no flavor. No spice, nada. The mac and cheese was shells in a white cheese sauce. Strike 3; zero flavor for the sauce. I don't know how you can make cheese sauce without flavor, but they managed to do so. I have never, ever thrown as much food away at a a BBQ joint than I did today. What a shame. Not recommended, not even a little bit. Try Martin's or Edley's; if you prefer a chain, Mission BBQ will do you much better than Hogwood.
