I don't know if anyone is paying attention, but quality and quality service is lacking these days. It's easier and often of less cost in the short run to take short cuts at the expense of customer loyalty and sense of receiving the best of treatment from a person and business you may rarely see in this age of pickup and delivery. If you're reading this all the way through, good on you and better for you. I can confidently state Champion Cleaners is a service you can count on to pickup and deliver as if you know Josh and his business as a brick and mortar. Understand what that means in this day and age. Understand you will be a loyal customer of Champion Cleaners without question. How often can one state that these days...? Let me give you my most recent example. I have a white Guayabera all linen long sleeve shirt with the vertical pleats on the front, the kind you can wear to church, to weddings, to fine dining, and on important dates. Now then let that shirt be unknowingly stained in multiple places on each sleeve by a dark and tarry mushroom supplement you take. You think, "this shirt is ruined on the first wear." Not so quick with Josh and Champion Cleaners. I texted Josh and told him of the challenge to clean this shirt. He replied, "we'll do our best." Their best at Champion Cleaners was well up to the job and I texted Josh that perhaps he heard the applause coming from my direction in the still of the early morning in the City. Josh and Champion Cleaners can save you money and save your garments. Five stars!

We suspected our clothes were not actually being washed - items came back smelling like fabric softener but not clean, and clothes with stain remover on them still had the stain remover residue, which came right off when we washed them ourselves. So we tested it. On a second visit, we deliberately added stain remover to three items in a large load before drop-off. None of the stain remover had been washed off when we got the clothes back - stain remover dissolves immediately on contact with water, so if these items had been through a wash cycle, it would have come off. It did not. The clothes just smelled like fabric softener, masking the fact they had not been cleaned at all. To make matters worse, we had left quarters at the bottom of our bag from a previous trip - they were gone when we got our clothes back. To their credit, they did wash our undergarments properly. But we cannot recommend this laundromat for a full-service wash. If you need clean clothes, find a self-service laundromat - we found a great one in Chinatown.

This is a case of "less is more" ... how can you forget the name of a dry cleaning outfit named Ann? That's because it's on Ann Street, which is next to John Street, and on which there are no johns because this is right near the Financial District. I went in since previous washes had not gotten the food grease stains on a pair of brushed denim jeans to the point I would have hoped. I showed the employee the garment. The kind gentleman working there made sure he marked (however dry cleaners mark items) the tough spots I brought to his attention. Before I started, I asked for the price and, for the area, it seemed like a good, fair price. I only asked that it be ready for me in two days because I'd be leaving. I called the following afternoon prior to closing and it was already back in the store and available for pick-up. I went in the morning of the second day. A different person helped me and he was equally helpful and good-natured. They did the job right. While this doesn't affect the rating at all, Lower Manhattan is a very interesting place. If, upon leaving Ann Cleaners, you turn left, you're basically looking at One World Trade Center and, if you turn right, you can either head up to Chinatown or quickly enough be on the pedestrian promenade on the Brooklyn Bridge. Don't settle for just any pedestrian dry cleaning outfit. Instead, go to Ann Cleaners in or near the Financial District. Your closest subway station is Fulton Street.
