I've been coming here for years and the service and quality is consistently TOP NOTCH! I am shocked that there are any 1 star reviews on here at all. Manny always remembers my name out of his hundreds of clients and Ms. Hahn has saved dozens of garments with her fast fixes and can always find a button that is close enough to the missing ones on my jackets or shirts. I walked into this place and found myself stared at by at least four of the employees (it was more than the "Manhattan once-over", for the record). I stepped up to the counter but was not greeted or given any eye contact by the man behind the register. I asked about their prices and was responded to in a very curt manner by the surly employee. I was a consistent loyal customer for 5 years and have spent thousands of dollars on dry cleaning here. They always did a good job. Recently I got dressed for a black tie event and realized the silk gown that I removed from the dry cleaning bag was marred and ruined. It was too late to change, I was devastated that I had to wear it to the event. I brought it back to the cleaners after the event and the guy who I have been dealing with for 5 years did not apologize. He tried to charge me to RE-CLEAN the gown. I protested and he said he'd give me a discount (a couple of dollars) on the re-cleaning. Really? read more

The star rating is one too many. Here's a tip - go anywhere else. I was a loyal customer - weekly drop off to have shirts hand finished and always satisfied - until now. 5 shirts dropped off, all Oxfords that they'd laundered before. 4 inexpensive ones come back with no problem. The expensive Thom Browne, which was the reason I brought everything in - they manage to ruin by getting the tri-color ribbon to run all over the shirt, while NOT removing the simple coffee stain in the shirt cuff. No apology, no attempt at trying to make it right. General attitude that it's somehow my fault that the shirt was ruined. Never again. read more

Within like 3 visits, Manny had not only memorized my name and phone number, but also knew my girlfriend and I live together so if she dropped something off, I could walk in and he'd return her clean garment to me without me even having to ask. They do great work, they're quick when you need them, and I will never go anywhere else as long as I live nearby. After putting many holes in silk garments from sticking bobby pins through them, despite my constant complains and promises that they wouldn't.... They severely shrunk a brand new Ralph Lauren Black Label $430 cashmere sweater (he even admitted they dried it with much too much heat) and refused to compensate me until I complained almost every day for a couple of weeks (they are in my boyfriend's building: The Archive), and said I would write a letter to ALL the tenants in the building about their lack of service, and then they only paid for a small fraction just to keep me quiet. I live nearby and drop off my laundry at Archive Cleaners, have an account setup with them. when I walk in they know who I am, and they deliver my dry cleaning promptly and professionally to my building in great condition. I have used several dry cleaners in NYC and this is by far the most professional I have seen, although a little pricier. read more

Do not go here. They ruined a brand new - first time to be dry cleaned - cashmere blend sweater. It came back shrunk with the waist tie ripped. The manager said he would try to fix it - but the material was completely changed and it was ruined. He sent it back to me a week later - sewed the missing piece back and stretched it out. It was unwearable and I asked for a refund on the cleaning and to be reimbursed for the sweater. He said he couldn't do that. I asked if he had insurance to cover this and he said NO. I ultimately left with a credit for cleaning services which only amounted to half the cost of the sweater. Horrible experience, I do not recommend using them unless you want your nice clothing ruined. read more

Have had excellent experiences with both dry cleaning and difficult alterations at Archive Cleaners. The seamstress has taken in a number of items for me including jeans and rompers, all of which have been fairly complicated, requiring new darts etc. They always fit like a glove afterward. I have been using this place for a few years and been very happy with them. I text them when I leave my shirts with the doorman and they pick up later in the day. Delivery is about 2-3 days later but if I need something in a hurry, they are able to expedite. They also do basic repairs and replace button (but I always leave them a note to ensure the repair/button is done). The person I text is very friendly and very prompt. read more

I have had very good results (I use them weekly) from Archive Cleaners. They have always been very warm and friendly to me (they call me by name) and they have never disappointed me with their services. When they have told me something would be done by a certain time, it has always gottendone. When they haven't gotten a stain out, they have always done it again....at their expense, with no questions asked. They have never lost any of my clothes. Their tailor is very talented. I've been coming to this shop for the past year now and I've been very happy with their service. One thing that stands out is their tailoring and alteration services. Due to age (diet?) my body shape has been changing. Each time I bring my pants in, the fit has been perfect meaning that they focused on the details instead of just expanding the waist. I took a bunch of stuff here because I moved into the building upstairs. My shirts came back looking like they'd been packed in suitcases (all full of those "boxy" wrinkles that clothes have after being packed). My suit was more wrinkled than when I took it in. Teeny, teeny stains of the sort that result from a tiny splash of something over a meal were all still on three of my shirts that had allegedly been professionally laundered and pressed. I took the stuff back down and the guy said the only way the stains could be removed would be if I had them dry cleaned. These are the sorts of stains that vanish when you wash something in your home washing machine with Tide. The sort of thing that I've never had to point out in advance ("BEWARE! There's a half-milimeter stain riiiiiight here!) to any of the 50-100 other cleaners I've worked with in the past. So I have to destroy all of my standard button-down shirts by having them dry-cleaned (and pay what -- $5/shirt?). Don't think so. read more
