I went back to Franklin Park Diner today and got my usual (and absolutely scrumptious) Disco Fries with a twist - extra cheese, which was absolutely to die for! I also decided to try another one of the delicious desserts behind the glass display case -- this time, I opted for a generous slice of their coconut pie. We go there very often for their breakfast special from 7:30-11:00 am. They have several different options. I get #6 - 3 sunny side eggs home fries, (2) fat sausage, rye toast & coffee. All made to perfection. The entire wait staff are friendly and their service is excellent. Have eaten for lunch & dinner their chicken salad club comes with French fries that I shared with my husband. The owners are mostly there daily. That was absolutely terrible, calling it prison food would do a disservice to prison food. Had a Buffalo hoagie which came with 4 fake chicken tenders, a smear of buffalo sauce and borderline rotten lettuce. I paid 16 dollars for this sandwich which isn't even worth 25 cents. I don't know how anyone can serve this and not be embarrassed. I literally have to order a second dinner because it was inedible. Partner ordered a California panini which was thrown out after three bites. Stay far away, if they can't make two sandwiches right I doubt they can do anything right. read more

Tried to order takeout. I was given a price first w/o being asked if I was using cash/debit. I saw a sign noting a discount for using cash. As I was being rung up, I noticed there was no discount. When questioned the waitress & possibly owner said that was the price. I decided not to buy the food. I left w/o incident. As I was attempting to leave, the owner came out and took a photo of my plate. When asked why, he said it wasn't illegal. I kindly told him that was not what I asked him and again asked him why. He refused to tell me. So police were called but they don't see his intimidation and emotional abuse as a crime. So, now someone could look up my name, address and age without punishment. Please do not eat here or at least ensure you don't have a problem with the owner or he will take a picture of your license to intimidate you. read more

Great breakfast options in large sizes served fresh and warm. If you're a no gimmicks let's get to the point- we are here for great food, this is the place for you. Typical diner appearance (1950s/60s chrome swivel barstools at bar etc.) We ordered the Franklin Park special and the meatlovers omelet with a side of hashbrowns. The food was delicious! Pancakes fluffy and golden, hashbrowns lightly crispy and golden free from excess oil, the omelet was fresh and balanced not overloaded with one item over the other. We used to go all the time until we went in a slow night and sat back to watch some disturbing practices. The waitress who touches menus, people and clears dirty dishes was making toast without gloves with who knows what in her hands. No one in the front should have any part of food service, that's disgusting. We just went through a horrible pandemic that should not be I don't know what the owner is thinking allowing waitresses to be involved in food preparation. We now have scratched Franklin Diner off the list. The health department needs to inspect more businesses. read more

Came in for breakfast on a Sunday morning. While the place was very full, we got seated promptly and the service from start to finish was impeccable. The waitress was on it. She somehow managed to know exactly what I needed before I even I knew I needed it. I dropped my fork accidentally and before I pick it up she was there with a new one. My coffee cup never emptied. Just unprecedented service in this day and age. The food was amazing. I had one of the breakfast specials and it was as if I had designed the plate myself in terms of getting everything I wanted and eat without custom ordering anything. It was also huge. I didn't eat anything else for most of the day. Definitely the best of the best! read more

We did not receive many of our food items and we requested broccoli instead of fries and this request was not honored. I'm very disappointed because this is a place I normally enjoy. What's NJ without the diners?? The employees are all attentive and kind. Got seated within 5 mins on a Sunday morning. Our waitress brought our drinks super fast and came back immediately to take our order. Food came quick too! I ordered 2 eggs over easy and it came with a handful of crispy bacon, toast already buttered and hash. And to top it off it only cost $6.60. Way better than any other breakfast place! Although seemingly plain on the outside with stucco plastered on its walls, it has a certain charm once you walk in. With a few counter stools, old fashion booths, upbeat workers and great service, this really is a great place to visit just for the environment. As for the food, I would recommend a specialty burger since you can't go wrong with the burger of your choice and fries. However, I wouldn't recommend the American cheese on it. And if you don't particularly like sautéed vegetables, I would shy away from the Italian hot dog. As for the drink, as long as you like ice cream, a milk shake is the right choice for you. However, don't get the orange juice, as my sister described it as tasting like dirty dish water. With some great meal options and stellar service, this place is definitely worth the visit.
