I've been here before many times. I figured I'd give my take on it. Was here for Father's Day to take my mom and dad out for breakfast. It was crowded inside, but the good thing is they kept the line moving. We only waited about 15 minutes for a table. When we seated, our waitress was very good at paying attention to who ordered what. Food came out at a decent time as well. Everything was cooked to perfection. After all these years, this diner still has amazing food and amazing service. Definitely stop in if you're traveling on Route 206 I need a place to eat. I visited Hillsborough Star Diner today with my three kids. We were seated quickly, which I appreciated, especially since they were busy. Unfortunately, that was where the positive experience ended. No one offered a high chair for my 11-month-old, and after ordering our drinks, we waited about 10-15 minutes before anyone came back to our table. We were there for nearly 30 minutes in total. Our waitress returned twice, and each time we were told she would be back, but we still never received our drinks or a high chair. Eventually, we got up and left. What was most disappointing was that not a single employee acknowledged us or attempted to stop us as we walked out. We felt completely overlooked. This also wasn't our first poor experience. About two weeks ago, my son politely asked a waiter three separate times for something. After repeatedly forgetting, the waiter responded, "Hey, I'm really busy, man." That's not an appropriate way to speak to a customer--especially a child. A simple, "I'm sorry, I forgot. I'll bring it right over," would have been the professional response. Waiting tables means providing customer service, even when you're busy. I completely understand having to wait when a restaurant is busy. However, waiting nearly 30 minutes without receiving so much as a drink, while also never being offered a high chair for an infant, is unacceptable. This diner is small and cozy and very nostalgic. We sat at the counter and the waitress was very friendly. We went for breakfast on a Friday and it was pretty busy. I had blueberry pancakes which were thick and tasty and my husband had a blueberry waffle which he said was very good. This is our 2nd time here. We will definitely go back when we are in the area. The staff is very attentive. (In the "did they offer a coffee refill gauge, they get high marks!) Food was flavorful. I got two eggs over easy, bacon, hash browns & an English muffin. All of which was great and I'd order again. Hillsboro Star diner is a classic styled building, simple and clean layout. I could see this place is packed after services over the weekend. My review is based on breakfast only. I came here to this diner for a change of pace from my usual spot with my bf for breakfast. I was seated immediately. My server was very nice and attentive. He brought my coffee and water right away. The coffee was good and hot. This diner is very retro. It has a lot of nostalgia to it. In my booth was a jukebox. Most diners don't have these anymore. I was very surprised how tight the booths are. They need to be spaced out a little better apart. I don't know how a large person could fit. I ordered their Greek Omelette it had chopped tomatoes and Feta Cheese. It came with toast and hash browns. Everything was cooked properly. My BF ordered Two Eggs Over Easy with Canadian Bacon. Have ordered off DoorDash and eaten in person. Both experiences were absolutely the same. Food was prepared quickly, delivered hot, and tasty. My usual go to is their Arizona omelette with hard cooked potatoes and rye toast with some extra butter. This place goes the extra mile on requests - and the rye bread they use is fresh and really good quality. I'll usually be skeptical of a diner on the first go when it comes to eggs, as busy diners can often let omelette and over easy eggs brown quite a bit on the flat top, but without any requests or reminders, every omelette I've gotten is a perfect yellow without any of that unpleasant browned egg taste. The in person experience is nice as well - cozy dining room, ample seating without feeling enormous, and not such little that it feels cramped. Counter service is also available. Waitresses always coming around asking if you need a refresher on your coffee, and the prices are extremely reasonable, and much lower than other lower quality diners in the area. read more

Gosh we were both sick with a head cold and we ordered their delicious chicken noodle soup, penne ala vodka noodles (delish!), breakfast foods, all very good. Home fries very tasty with eggs and sausage in the AM. We recently had friends up from Virginia and met them at the diner for lunch - I had the eggs benedict, and the rest had eggplant sandwich and hamburgers. I have had the Fried Flounder a few times and every time, the fish taste fresh and delicious. I have also had the casadellia. That was only OK. The service was appreciated and the menu had lots of options as one would imagine at a NJ diner. They did have different specials for each day of the week it appeared for lunch and dinner. My only complaint is that the clam strips are a little bit small but they more than make up for it with the amount that they give you. I asked her how is the Roast turkey? she said it was very good. I said what is better chicken Parmesan.I never seen anything like it before in my life.!I it was mush like a mush, sweet potato, but brown laying underneath the roast turkey was suppose to be the stuffing and the potatoes had to be boxed . This is my favorite diner in NJ! I've been coming here for over 10 years. The food hasn't changed one bit and is always good. Their menu is very extensive and will have all of your favorite morning to night dishes. They offer a military discount too. Service is about average since they're always busy. Occasionally your waitress might forget something and you'll have to remind them. The dishes are pretty customizable - egg whites, different veggies, etc. The building is pretty old school. It's old school Jersey diner with the desserts in the revolving glass display, old 70's decor, clean but still looks like it needs a scrub. Well that is this place. They still have jukeboxes at the table - that may or may not work. There could of been signed Silvester Stallone picture on the wall, or a bunch of dollar bills taped up behind the register, that's the ambience. Not a huge menu but a good selection of sandwiches, burgers, entrees and breakfast. We ordered burgers. Mexican and the philly. The peppers n mushrooms looked either the jarred kind but def not fresh. It was a diner burger n fries. Yanno what you are getting for $7. Lettuce n tomato on the side. Coffee was hot, food was hot and quick. Host was nice, friendly. Waitress was cheerful and attentive. You are in a Jersey diner, not some gastro bougie restaurant.
