Ok, people. If you're anywhere near Coeur d'Alene and it's even close to breakfast time, do yourself a favor and eat at Franklin's! My wife and I just enjoyed one of the best breakfasts we've had in a very long time. Everything was absolutely delicious! Eggs and bacon were perfectly cooked. My boyfriend got the chicken fries steak, I had some and it was very good, great taste to the sauce and it was cooked well. I order a simple breakfast eggs bacon and potatoes.. I had some of their hot pepper sauce and it was spicy!! But it was good paired with the potatoes . Had the OG Steak. Sat at the counter - a no frills ambiance which I'm into. Definitely was in a "locals" joint as a tourist (here for a conference) but the staff was super welcoming. Phoned in an order for pickup. Once I arrived, my weak bladder unfortunately decided to as well. I ran in only to be stopped by a woman feet away from the restroom and told to get out. Explained I had sandwiches for pickup, but need to asap use the toilet. I was again told no and pointed toward the door. "It's not suppose to be open. We're closed." Closed, yet still serving customers at the window. Navigating life with a weak bladder is a humiliating experience. Thankfully the barber shop next door saw my panic and offered their facilities. I walked away from the sandwiches as the same woman had the audacity to continue to announce they were ready. Franklin's is a small "sandwich" shop on the corner of 4th street in downtown CDA. This place is small (7 tables and 5 seats at the counter) with an open kitchen and seating outside on a wooden deck. This place is open from 7am to 3 pm and not only serves sandwiches but breakfast as well. I stopped in here looking for a quick breakfast and opted for the breakfast burrito and a large orange juice to go. The orange juice came out first and I have to say it was the freshest orange juice I have ever tasted. The breakfast burrito I ordered comes with eggs, cheese, onions, peppers, mushrooms, diced potatoes and one choice of meat but I decided to do bacon and sausage and paid 50 cents more for the flame thrower option. That's where they put jalapeño and ghost pepper sauce in it as well. I had them add the jalapeños inside but put the ghost pepper sauce on the side. As I waited for my burrito to be made I looked around the small, clean scantily decorated restaurant and just watched as the one waitress went from table to table greeting people who were sitting and people who were coming in by name. You could tell this place had a string of regulars that dine here and for good reason. Soon my burrito was ready and I opened up the container to check that everything was good. The burrito was a hefty size and was cut in half for me. The filling looked amazing and I couldn't wait to put some of the salsa, sour cream and the ghost pepper sauce that came with it on the burrito. When I got to where I was going I tried the burrito with all three of the sauces. It was so good! The salsa and sour cream helped cool things down with the extremely HOT ghost pepper sauce! I really enjoyed all of it and it was definitely filling. If they do breakfast this well I'm definitely coming back to try their sandwiches!! read more

There is a beautiful tree growing up through the middle of the patio deck that shades the patio. It's so peaceful. I ordered the Havarti BLT. Very yummy.
