First impression: Straight and to the point. The owner was friendly and had a great sense of humour. This is a classic, American diner. It's set in an old railway car and, while space us limited, has a friendly feel to it. You can sit at the counter and see the food being prepared or sit in a booth. The Staff: Very friendly and isn't afraid to talk to you or crack a few jokes. They banter with one another and you can hear their laughs and jokes throughout the restaurant. They will joke with you but they are very polite and efficient. The Food: The food was very good. I had an omelette with bacon and mozzarella cheese and it did not disappoint. It was huge and very filling. Add that with a side of potatoes and their homemade toast, it leads to a very good meal. read more

Huge meals! You must be very hungry for this place. It is very popular and busy place. You may need to wait in line for a while. Service was great. Alien had a half-size garbage plate. Thank goodness Frank's Diner is another state; because otherwise we would be there all the time piling on the calories. The Garbage plate is a most definite to try. It is everything breakfast, except toast, bundled up in one. The cinnamon French toast was also good but no comparison to the garbage plate. My uncle worked there in the 30's! I visited the place to take pictures for my uncle, the food is good but I felt the guy calling the shots was on the harsh side of friendly it's not the same place of course .. but I believe Mr. Franks was a much friendlier person than the current owners, my uncle worked there as a teen then moved far away many moons ago, he's in his 90's I visited him recently and showed pictures of how the place looks these days, he did get a kick out of it, read more

This place is awesome. An old train car converted into a breakfast diner. Very delicious pancakes and garbage plates (their signature dish, an egg, hash brown, veggie, cheese, meat combo). Their homemade corned beef and chorizo are excellent. They have massive mimosas and bloody marys. Nothing fancy, but expertly made breakfast food, anything you order will be good. And the experience is something to write home about. It's just fun being there. There is often a line out the door, but it's worth the wait. I mean this place is breakfast heaven. Why would you even bother with ordering items outside of their breakfast menu. Just be prepared to wait especially if you go on the weekends. The waitstaff are friendly and will provide a little sass which is harmless. I would advise to keep younger kids away from here as it gets a bit congested and provides little to no room to wonder about. The garbage plate is the main event and if you dare do the whole order, do not plan to do much that afternoon other than be vertical. Franks is a fun diner to stop in to if you're in the Kenosha area. There was a line out the door and onto the sidewalk because seating is limited, but waiting was part of the experience. We all ended up getting the garbage plates to go. It would have been great except that it needed some seasoning. Wouldn't have been a problem if we had sat in the diner to have our food to go. I'm not sure if the wait is typical, but we were there on Father's Day so it was especially busy. I would suggest getting sausages in the garbage plate (if you get that)- I got a sausage morsel and it was delicious. The price is right and it's definitely worth a visit! read more

I read so many great reviews about this place and I have been told by many they are great and so friendly. Unfortunately, I have yet to experience any of this. I have been here twice now, the first time I was with two other people, and we were sat at the counter. It was very busy that day and we had to wait an hour just for our food, which all would have been fine but they never asked to refill our drinks and I we had to ask a couple of times for our check. I personally felt very ignored, and maybe it was because of the sub par service but I felt the food was not worth the wait. Despite a not so great first experience I wanted to give them a second chance and was able to go during the week this time. It was a little bit busy but nothing like the last time, and again I was sat at the counter. I sat down spent time looking at the menu and waited... I sat there for over ten minutes and never once did anyone ask me what I wanted to drink even. I watch them take orders and check in with the people around me but I was never acknowledged. Here I was so looking forward to having the cinnamon roll I hear so much about and instead I was so hungry and tired of waiting just to get a drink order in that I walked out. I get places get busy and that it might be hard to keep track of who just sat down but for no one to even say hi to me after I sat down, at the counter no less, is just bad service. For basic breakfast food, the service is terribly slow (~45+ minutes to get our food after ordering). It was fairly busy, so not a big deal. Came across this diner while vacationing. They have amazing food. Big portions. We ate here for breakfast two days. I had the French toast one day and Chorizo garbage plate the other day. For all the hype surrounding this diner, I was not impressed. The wait was extremely excessive for Kenosha - I do realize this is considered a hot spot but they need to pull it together. Also the staff was loud and somewhat rude - I'm not sure if the were trying to channel the "Ed Debevics"vibe, if they were they sadly missed the mark. I had the garbage plate and a mimosa after waiting for nearly 2 hours. The food was slightly better than any diner brunch I've had before. Very disapointed. The first time I had the cinnamon french toast, It was hot, had brown sugar all over and soft. I order it for to go and they made me the most basic french toast ever, no brown sugar nor it was soft. It was an extreme disapointment from the first time I had it. Ruined my appetite. read more

Where do I begin? I saw Franks Diner on TV where it was featured on Triple D a few weeks ago. I was then scheduled to come to Kenosha for work. I had to stop in to check this place out. I ordered The 1/4 Garbage Plate with spam, cheddar cheese and jalapeño peppers. ( it was my 1st time having spam) I fell in love so much that I came back twice more before I left Wisconsin. The ladies who work in the morning are awesome. They take orders, cook, clear off tables, and ring customer up. They multitask on another level. I was truly impressed with how amazing my breakfast was. Apparently it all has to do with the grill top that's been there forever. During this crazy Covid time, Frank's goes above and beyond what is required to keep diners and staff safe. I love that, but not as much as I love their French Toast made with their homemade bread, thick and yummy bacon or the best sausage links anywhere.
