It reminds me of Cheers without the alcohol or bar setting. If you were born in the 70s or 80s then you'll get the reference. The staff knows their regular dine in customers and orders. That is great when you frequent there for that. If you don't then the service is hit or miss. Today I was up and out before 6am and stopped for carryout when they opened. There we're tables of folks eating and the kitchen was busy making carryout orders. I waited patiently to place an order as there was only one person working the tables and register. I'm standing right in front of the register and instead of taking my order she cashes out a gentleman who walked up after me and is standing on the side. Red flag #1. She takes my order and I have cash in hand to pay for it right then. I'll cash you out in a minute she says. Clearly she has to get the rush of folks who smartly called ahead. Fast forward to me standing again to pay for my food. She then again ignores me and helps a guy sitting to the side who placed a carryout order. I'm frustrated at this point but don't want to make a scene. I ordered breakfast for a loved one and I wouldn't have time to go anywhere else. I tell her about the instances of being ignored and all she says is it only takes a second to cash a customer out. Even though I was already standing there both times. She looked overwhelmed, but that's still not the right way to handle customers. I was going to tip her the $10 left from my order, but instead I left disappointed and will avoid this place when she works. Ok I think I found my neighborhood breakfast spot - I normally stay in Redford but had to travel in the 6 mile area; now this place is less than a mile away. I didn't try the breakfast special but there food is pretty good; a little pricy compared to the place I used to try but it's closer. The food didn't take a long at all; I was actually only ordering take out instead of dining in. Next time I think i want to - I was laughing while sitting waiting on my food because every diner have those group of guys which are the "MORNING GUYS". Stopped at Frank's on our way back to SW Michigan from Detroit as it was convenient off of the freeway. It's not a lot to look at, but we were greeted and served by the friendliest staff we've had in a while. Warm smiles, attentive service, and fantastic veggie omelet options - including BROCCOLI which is my personal favorite and many don't have. Our waitress that took our order was a professional and sweet young lady with blonde hair, I did not get her name. We were a party of 4, Saturday @12 noon. My husband ordered pancakes and requested warm syrup as he has had many times in the past. Our food was delivered by a different young lady with the name April May on her apron. When she set my plate down I noticed that my cinnamon French toast did not have cinnamon. Thinking maybe she had been given the wrong plate to deliver. I mentioned that I had ordered cinnamon French toast. April, (as she had confirmed to me later was her name) preceded to tell me to me that the cinnamon comes on the side in an agitated response. My husband then mentioned that he had requested warm syrup. April (in a lengthy stern response told my husband that they do not warm syrup and it is on the table. My husband then responded with a statement that our original waitress said it wasn't a problem. April went on about how the are too busy for warming syrup. Mind you with every statement becoming more aggressive and stern In her speech pattern. At this point I had decided maybe April was just an angry person that probably should not work with the public , the restaurant was busy. My cinnamon was brought to the table and dropped off. About 5 minutes later April returned, nothing in her hands. A guest at our table asked her about my husband's warm syrup. This is when things became next level bonkers.... April in a very rude aggressive fashion went on about how the syrup is in the microwave and takes a really long time to warm, and that there are only 2 people waiting tables and he would have to just wait. Eventually the syrup did arrive and our food was good even though we were treated in an unwelcome manner by April. We will return to Franks but we will request that April not be our server or help our server. read more

If you are concerned about COVID, stay away!! The cooks are not wearing their masks correctly and are breathing on on our food. I specifically asked that my cook wear their mask before preparing my food and they pulled them up over their chins but not over their noses. I am only half vaxxed and am now very concerned that I might have been exposed. Their food is awesome, they are normally my first choice for lunch. We've lived around the corner from this place for years but only started going over the last year. We've been happy with everything we've tried from the breakfast and dinner menus. Their portions are large and the dinners come with nice extras like Texas Toast and rice pudding. Everyone we've interacted with has been very nice to us as well. My experience this morning was horrible. I typically never send food back but the French toast I order was cold and honestly nasty. The waitress asked what was wrong with it and I told her it was nasty. She then took the food back to the cook. The cook then came to ask me what's wrong with it again. Franks is Redford's Best little diner in Town, Good Food with a super sized grease board with all the days specials. This place is nearly always packed and is a great place for a quick and cheap Breakfast. The Wait staff is sure to greet you as you walk in and give you great service throughout your meal.
