I had the Koi No Yoken, with the egg done over medium and the white gravy. It was absolutely delicious. The waffle isn't made of normal waffle batter; it's like a croissant inside almost. When you have Waffle in the name of your store, you better deliver a fresh waffle. Clearly, the waffle is frozen, doughy and dry, inedible. And they DID NOT DISAPPOINT. This is waffle heaven. This is waffles done right. None of that too fluffy spongy soggy nonsense happening here. These waffles are perfection - dense but soft, delicate sugar peaking out of every bite. These waffles perfectly compliment their flavors. I mean, who needs a cinnamon roll when you can get a From Churro with Love waffle? No one. You need a waffle. The real winner of our order, though, was the Peaches in the Air. I have visited this place many times inside of Sawmill Market. My family and I are always excited to enjoy one of their delectable waffle desserts. The staff is always so courteous and cheerful. We usually devour the Fresas Mi Amor, which is strawberries and whipped cream. Or the From Churro with Love, that has cinnamon sugar, caramel and chocolate chipotle cream. Yum, just talking about it right now makes me want to go out and get some! My family and I always get these flavors but I am pretty sure that if these dessert waffles are scrumptious then so are the other flavors. There are so many creative ways that this restaurant has created their menu and even if you're not in the mood for "waffles" per say, there are saltier options that don't even seem like typical waffles. I ordered the "Fresas, mi amor" and it was delicious. The waffle itself was cooked to perfection and the strawberries and cream were a sweet addition that was not TOO sweet. My only issue with this restaurant are the prices and the wait time. It is quite expensive for one waffle and I ended up waiting nearly 20 minutes for the waffle. While I do understand that they have a lot of orders, it also was a little frustrating because I had not planned to spend such a long time waiting. Overall, it was very good. Both were tasty and the perfect size (with all the other delectables we tried). The churro one was probably my favorite- the sweet and the little bit of spice complementing each other perfectly. The slight crunch of a done waffle and didn't take much time for it to be ready at all. What more can I say. I think the "I'm Bananas for You" would be next on the list. In October/November, they had a pumpkin spice waffle (my fave!)- "Pumpkin Spice with Everything Nice" with pumpkin whip, caramel, and candied walnuts. This one was a little smaller than the other ones with only a slight hint of pumpkin (like most pumpkin things are). The more desert-based waffles are a bit tastier, but you're really just enjoying the toppings. Such as ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate, strawberries, etc. The wait time was more than double what was originally provided, resulting in an over 30 min wait time. We had a show to catch, so had we known, we'd have gone elsewhere. They also messed up one of the orders, adding an item we previously asked to hold. Not the mouthfeel you want in a waffle. Very off putting. Also-fill the iron so the waffle is whole. The egg was cooked fine, and there was a good amount of avocado and green onion. The red sauce, which is a bechamel with adobo, was tasty, just sparse. Good price point too at $10, IF it was good, which in this case was not. My wife and I decided to have an early breakfast before hiking the Petroglyphs. Our first experience with XO was excellent, their white and red XO sauce is one of the best béchamel variants I've tasted in a while. No grainy taste and a subtle heat with the red option. Their approach to waffles is also very unique as it's dough based rather than batter giving a fresh take on an old favorite of chicken and waffles. Tried this for the first time yesterday. It was kinda gross. Beautiful presentation though and the place was clean. I inquired before ordering about the ingredients. The counter person said their "xo sauce" had artificial dye in it, so I opted to forego that portion of the strawberries & cream waffle. But she also told me it was served with real whipped cream (it was totally artificial) and real maple syrup (nope, fake too). The waffle itself was massively over sweetened and also had an artificial ingredients taste. The strawberries were fresh but tasted like chemical preservatives.
