I love The Range Cafe and try to go weekly for breakfast. I was very saddened by their closure for dinner as it always a great place to meet up with friends. But I understand the restaurant profit margins are always thin, and they need to figure out how to stay open. My favorite breakfast item was discontinued - Cheezy Grits with Carne, so good! I now frequently order the Deluxe Biscuits and Gravy as the biscuits are incredible. The Pappas con Carne are also very good, and the breakfast burrito is just too much food. The last time I ordered Huevos Rancheros the kitchen finally figured out that they should fry the tortillas in oil before plating instead of just warming on the grill!! They were so much better!! And what a great wait staff! I always ask for my preferred waiter in a booth so I can relax and read the paper. read more

Met two friends for breakfast and it was a total disappointment. The food was not up to par as it used to be and the price of entrees is sky high. I Ordered everything but the kitchen sink omelet, delivered not has described- basically a cheese omelet with three slices of avocado on top and way over cooked. My friend's muffin was burnt to a crisp and her bowl of strawberries were terrible. Egg over easy - over cooked. I believe the Range is experiencing kitchen nightmares and inflation. Asked for ketchup and I got a little manikin with a tablespoon of ketchup. They now close at three pm and items from menu removed. Service was okay - waitress was trying. Not her fault how the food is prepared. This location is not handicap friendly. The doors and two sets of them are extremely heavy. After years of moving to ABQ, I had never been to The Range Cafe in person until recently. I was really surprised by how crowded/busy the place was. Even then, the staff told me what I saw was actually not their busiest hours yet! It was still some wait time for those who want to sit at tables. That said, I sat at a bar across from the kitchen...and frankly enjoyed seeing and learning how food got prepared and dished out to customers. To be honest, seeing how busy and how much hard work the wait staff had to do..I was so glad I didn't have to work there! It's real hard work! I got a homemade granola with fruits and yoghurt for breakfast ($11.99) and soda ($3.99) and was quite satisfied. The food was on an expensive side of scale, but seeing how hard the staff ahd to work and maybe how off I was with the whole inflation since I hadn'at eaten out properly all that much these days...I might be wrong to judge about pricing. That said, lots of options for breakfast/brunch. Also, I saw their homemade desserts,...and those were ginormous!! I've always enjoyed the desserts at The Range restaurants but I didn't know they also make custom cakes until I checked out the website while planning a birthday party. I ended up ordering three 10'' round cakes in three different flavors: choc cake with choc fudge frosting plus raspberry filling(my fav); strawberry cake w/ strawberry frosting and filling; and carrot cake (w/o the carrot decoration). Andres was great at helping me pick out just the right variety. An added bonus for me was that, unlike most bakeries, The Range is open on Sundays so the cakes could be picked up on the way to the birthday brunch. Went to eat today and I'm not impressed, we had to wait 25 to 30 mins to get sat down, which is normal for the range. When we got seated there was plenty of places to sit also. The food was crap Ray decided to cut cost on the quality of the food, ly wife had enchiladas and rice was hard as a rock, I had the Mac and Cheese, it tasted like Alfredo and very tasteless, it was running and the chicken they put in was not good. We used to eat about once a week when our daughter worked there, the food and service was better. I would not recommend The Range anymore as a place to go eat. If you are from out of town pick a place.the takes quality over price. While the original Range in Bernallilo remains my all time fav, I love how delicious and consistent each location is. This one is closest to my house, so I tend to come here most often. I love how quickly the food arrives, the high quality of the food and the variety. They offer lunch after 11am and have a great breakfast menu with a mix of sweet and savory offerings. I have suuuuch a bangin omelette this weekend that I can't stop thinking about. Both the hostess and servers were so lovely and attentive. Like other Range Cafés, the Wyoming Blvd restaurant is cozy, friendly and relaxed. Same great menu of burgers, southwest favorites, and incredible desserts. Today I enjoyed the 'huge cup' green chile chicken stew. There is so much shredded chicken, it is a meal in itself. The stew has potatoes, carrots, bell peppers and green chile - perfectly seasoned. Used to go to one of the Range Cafes around town at least a couple times a month. This location has gone downhill. The last two times I ate here, my food took FOREVER to come out (45 minutes for a salad-- not acceptable). When people come for lunch during the work week, it can be assumed that they need to get back to work and don't have time to sit here all day. The most frustrating thing, though, is the lack of care that the servers have; if you raise a concern, they'll shrug and smile. In this economy, restaurants really need to up their service game. We walked in Range Cafe and was seated at a booth right away. It was very convenient while we had a small toddler who needed to sit in a booster seat. Service was very prompt with everything until the end where it did slow down bc it got busier. We did order a lot of food for 3 adults and 1 child. We spent about $120 after tip. I really enjoyed my Ruby Red Grapefuit juice, and would order it again. I had to share it with my toddler. I actually finished aafter we were done eating. I didn't finish my breakfast, however, bc it was a lot of food. I added impossible chorizo patties on top of my huevos rancheros with Christmas chili. Everything tasted fantastic. I will mention that my biscuit wasn't as tall as I remembered it last time. It looked like a basic biscuit, which was a little disappointing. I did enjoy it with the jelly anand butter. We ordered a brownie to-go, and I didn't enjoy it. I've never had trouble eating brownies, either. Don't miss this place when you're in the Santa Ana Pueblo/Bernalilo area of New Mexico. In fact make it a point to go out of your way to get there if you have to. It is an amazing meal. We came here to try the Christmas breakfast burrito. And my friend had the Blue Corn Relleno Plate. Both were excellent probably the best chile relleno I've had in a while. The red sauce was a little too late for me a bit on the mild side and not so heavy with the red chile, but I was able to get an extra side of the green chile which more than made up for it. Tried the pickle juice bloody Mary which came with all the trimmings and was so delicious and my friend had the scotch ale. Hands down the service was excellent and attentive. Just wish we had had room for dessert. Especially when we past the bakery on the way out. The whole environment was wonderful and interesting with so many wall hangings including art for sale. Stopped in for dinner and some drinks since I hadn't been in a while. I love the decor in this spot, it's really just a fun atmosphere. It wasn't crowded and we got seated right away. Probably a good thing, since otherwise I would have been hanging out near the dessert case and they all look so good that that's never the best plan. I might forget that I intended to get a meal! The server was great about giving us time to read through the menu and make our decisions. She was also good about checking on us periodically, making sure the water glasses were full and we didn't need anything else. I got a house margarita and the relleno plate and they both hit the spot perfectly. The rellenos had a good amount of cheese and the chiles (I got mine Christmas) had a good kick to it. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the Range Cafe. I had carne adovada over cheese grits topped with crispy onions and avocado - excellent! My husband thought his Southwest bowl, which contained black beans, roasted veggies, eggs, spinach, avocado, and turkey sausage, topped with cotija and smoked chile crema, was outstanding. After eyeing the pastries while we waited for our table, we were excited to see that if we ordered dessert with our entrees, we would get 10% off an entree. It still feels like its former incarnation as a JB's to me, but Matt DiGregory's The Range Café on Wyoming has been here for some time now. It's reliable, but it's not the first place I ever think to head. The food is usually okay but sometimes disappointing and somehow doesn't ever seem as good as at the newer EDO location (that used to be DiGregory's Standard Diner) or the original location in Bernalillo, and the room doesn't feel as nifty, either. End result is that, while this is the closest outlet of the restaurant to where I live, it's the one I visit the least. But I'd like to pay well earned respect to our terrific server Nikki, who made our lunch today feel like something special: she was patient, on-it and welcoming in such a friendly way that we are more likely to give this location another go here soon. read more

The place has a lovely southwestern ambience, and some really fun sayings on the walls. One of the shared that desserts is stressed spelled backwards, and exhorted patrons to try their desserts. Yesterday, my husband and I decided to lunch at the Range on Wyoming. We normally frequent Central Ave or Rio Grande. I have eaten here dozens of times, but this time the food was horrible! I normally love the meatloaf but what I received was NOT what I'm used to; the mashed potatoes and vegetables looked and tasted "old" and the meatloaf was dry. I was seriously disappointed. I feel like the restaurant is being managed by someone who doesn't understand the business or care about the quality of the food being served. The only redeeming aspect of the experience was our waitress, Amy. She was terrific! We paid over SEVENTY DOLLARS for the worst lunch I've had at the Range Cafe. We entered The Range Cafe at 11:22 am and stepped up to the Service Counter. The young gentleman looked up and asked, "Party of two?" I confirm his question and he said, "Please follow me." He walked us through the the cluster of filled tables at various stages of service. He then stopped at an empty table and pulled out a chair for my female guest and said, Ma'am." My guest graciously took a seat and thanked the host. I then took a seat facing her. Once we were both seated the Host handed us menus said, "Enjoy your meals" as he smiled and departed from the table and headed back in the direction of the Host Station. Within one minute our Server approached our table, smiled and said, "May I bring you a beverage while you take a few minutes to look your menus?" My guest ordered an Iced Tea with lemon and I requested an Ice water with lemon. The cheerful Server smiled and said, "I will be right back with those beverages and we can then talk about your food questions and decisions. Our server arrived two minutes later and placed our drinks in front of us and asked if we had questions. My guest some up and stated, " I am going to have my favorite lunch entree... the Salmon Berry Salad. The Server asked how she would like her Salmon prepared and my Guest replied, "medium well." The delightful server then looked to me and I spoke up saying, "I would like exactly the same thing with my Salmon also cooked to "medium well." The beautiful salads that were delivered featured a large bowl of epic medley of luscious salad greens with a medium sized Salmon filet grilled to perfection and nestled atop one side of the bowl. The bowl also boasted fresh blueberries, strawberries, candied pecans and crispy onions. Opposite the salmon filet nestled into the top of the salad was a metal portion cup filled with very tasty Balsamic Vinaigrette. The Server kept our beverages filled throughout our meal. When our Server noticed that we had stopped eating she approached our table and asked if she could tempt us with one of their delicious in house made desserts. When we declined, she smiled and asked me if she could bring me a box for the remaining half of my Salad. I thanked her and she was gone and back before we barely realized she had departed. The Server returned with the plastic clam shell for my salad and portion cup and cover for my vinaigrette. She then said, "Why don't you let me containerize you Salad for your trip home while you look over your final lunch print out?"$ As we passed through the Cafe entering and departing we could not help but not some very important elements. The lighted glass cases were filled with a large variety of very tempting desserts to eat in the Cafe or take home and enjoy later. We could not help but notice how clean and well maintained the Cafe was overall. The Vintage Ambiance was also appreciated throughout the facility with many kitchen items displayed in various viniettes that were eye catching. There were also many Varying photos throughout the Cafe that magnified Cafe ambiance throughout the decades. From entry to exit this was a highly positive experience. There were many other menu items I am interested in trying. Service is good. The shop is clean and pleasant. The food may also be good. I'm not sure. My problem here is the menu. I don't care for chili which makes most Mexican and nearly all New Mexican pretty much out of bounds for me. I had trouble finding something to eat here. The staff was pleasant and polite and we did eventually manage to find something off the menu for both my wife and I. But I won't be back. And maybe that's my fault for thinking that it was a breakfast restaurant rather than a New Mexican food spot. But if you're not a chili fan, look elsewhere. read more

This place is like a constant that is never changing and always upholds it's highest standards in both quality and quantity of the food. Menu has a great variety of selection for everyone in your family! Every option has excellent taste to it. The pies are by far the best thing in the menu and the lemon merengue is 10/10 and you can tell is not overwhelming sweet and has the right balance of fluff and sweetness flavor to it. You can tell is natural ingredients to it. So much to choose from the dessert selection. Overall place is clean and tidy. 4.5 stars I still have yet to officially eat at the range (I know, I know bad New Mexican), but I had to stop in for their desserts after seeing the chocolate coconut cream pie advertised to me on Facebook. It was easy to order online (couldn't find a curbside spot so I went inside, though it was a weekday in December they still were pretty busy). I ended up also getting my dad a green chile apple pie slice also. The chocolate coconut was quite heavenly- light and fluffy with notes of silky smooth chocolate. Great place- it does get packed but our wait was short on a Sunday morning. We needed to have a nice brunch before we hit the road to come home and this place had our curiosity. So- there are ranges, as in cooking ranges (I guess back in the day that was the term for a stove top and oven combo) all over the place! Very cute decor idea. But more importantly, they highlight works from local artists and have them hanging on the walls for sale- very nice. The food was delicious and the service was great. My sister and I stopped in for an early dinner. We were seated on the far side of the restaurant. Our waitress took a bit to get to us, but once she made contact, we were well taken care of. My sister ended up ordering a salad and taco that was on special. The taco she chose was adobada. She said it tasted good, but the meat didn't have the color that I expected. The took some of her salad home. I opted for an open-faced burger, but with a tortilla instead of the bun. It was served with black beans, but I requested pinto beans instead. It came with range fries. I thought they would be french fries, but they were half potatoes; probably roasted. The meat patties (2) were perfectly seasoned. On their own, they were delicious. There was a nice cheese sauce over the patties and potatoes. I didn't end up eating the tortilla because I was already full! We both ended up taking home a slice of carrot cake. The cake had a nice spice to it. I think, however, that they were a little heavy with the cream cheese frosting, especially on top. It was a good overall. I ate it over 2 days. read more

My friends and I go here periodically and we've always had AWESOME service and food. Today was no exception; not only was Amber attentive, checking in on us at just the right times, cheerful and pleasant...she saved me because she found my wallet in the booth and managed to find us. Then, when I got home an hour later I discovered I must have left my Final Staw in my tea (metal, folds up. I called and spoke w/Anne Marie (I think) and she found it. We stopped by about noon on a Tuesday. We didn't have to wait at all and were seated by friendly staff. Our server was attentive and polite, refilling my coffee without having to ask. We got huevos rancheros and the kitchen sink omelette- both were good portions and tasty. I also got the Death by Lemon pie and it was pretty good- delightfully lemony as advertised. My only critique would be that the lemon custard part oozed some moisture that dropped down and soaked into the crust which made the crust soggy. Next time I'll have to try the key lime pie because that also looked really good. The ambiance was average- clean enough but could use an update. I wouldn't necessarily bring a date here or brunch here with the girls if we were trying to be cute. But if you're looking for a decent meal with nice staff, give it a try. read more

Someone ordered me a steak salad to bring over to me at work for lunch. The steak was WELL done and burned on spots, extremely tough and didn't taste seasoned. The bacon was also a hair from being burned. Two of the items included in the salad were missing, the bleu cheese crumbles and homemade croutons.
