A big thank you to Franks and especially Tad. I dropped off my late father's old New Haven (600AT) 12 gauge (made by Mossberg). Dad passed almost 20 years ago and this shotgun had been sitting in my camp, unloved and unused. There was a bad hitch in the rails so the pump action was anything but smooth and some type of feeding issue too. Tad was the gunsmith at Frank's who worked on the gun. He called me to review what I wanted before he started working which was appreciated. The gun was done on time and at a reasonable price. I picked up the gun a few days ago and it looked and worked like a brand new gun. I got it back to my camp and ran half a box of shells through it and couldn't be happier. Smooth and beautiful. I needed a new hobby so I decided on plinking, ie shooting at metal targets with a firearm. After research on the internet, I decided on a Ruger PC Carbine SW40. I always buy local, so I called Frank's up and he had a couple in stock. So I drove down there, and filled out the screening paperwork, and passed the test and purchased the rifle. Service is friendly, questions are encouraged, and overall, I had a very pleasant experience. I also purchased 2 extra magazines and a box of ammo. DO NOT SELL GUNS TO FRANK'S!!! This is an honest review of Frank's Gun Shop. The only good: Their ammunition prices are reasonable. The very bad: They low-ball you on your gun(s) if you try to sell there. Example: Last year, I had a 1969 Browning Light 12 in near mint condition that still had original factory grease on it. The person I bought it from used it one time and put it away for over 50 years. I called the gun shop and spoke to Frank (owner) directly. I explained the gun condition and he said, "The most I could give you is around $400." I politely said no thank you. Later that same day, I took the gun to a shop in Schenectady County and they paid me $1400 for the same gun!! Frank's is trying to get guns for nothing and make a "home run" off every customer! In reading the other reviews on Google, I see nearly all the one-star ratings have to do with low-ball offers on guns people try to sell there. This guy is a con-artist!! STAY AWAY!!! read more

Excellent store for the firearms enthusiast, for those who enjoy reloading, large selection of handguns, long guns, scopes, tremendous selection of rifle, shotgun, handgun and muzzle loading ammunition on hand. Their new store is located at 3549 State Highway 30 in Gloversville, NY and takes approximately 45 minutes to get there from Albany by the N Y S Thruway, but well worth the drive. read more

Shopping for my first pistol I went to a few gun shops before Frank's, even thou they were recommended by my brother and a coworker. I should have gone to to Frank's first and saved myself a lot of wasted time. The other shops made me feel like an outsider wasting their time. The Guys at Frank's were extremely patient and knowledgeable. I got a very good "feel" from the staff there. Now all I need to do is wait for Schenectady county to process my permit so I can pick up the gun. Thank you Frank's I will definitely be doing more business with you. read more

Service and attention to customer's questions here is as good as it gets. Prices on older, used guns are pretty horrific, but you're looking for new guns and/or need advice on the gun you're buying, you can't go wrong here. They also have a great supply of ammo and hand loading equipment. I would unreservedly recommend it to anyone except collectors. read more

I just bought a gun from Frank and I have to say it was the best experience I have had with a shop owner. I was calling around to different gun stores who didn't have my Sig Sauer P938 in stock or not the correct one when I called Frank. He said he had it. I told him I wasn't able to make it until the next day so he actually made a deal with me over the phone, and removed the gun from the shelf for me and said it's mine so long as I get there the next day. He never met me before and with a simple phone call, he quoted me a price for the gun, and even held it for me for a day for no reason! Another large competitor in Albany wasn't even willing to tell me if they had my gun in stock over the phone, let alone quote a price! Needless to say, I won't ever shop there now. So I went to Frank's and purchased my gun. It was $150 cheaper than anywhere else I looked and he even threw in some extras with it because he was just that nice! I told him I wouldn't do gun business anywhere else. Not to mention, he has a great selection! Especially for revolvers. Clean shop, great help and great management. 10 out of 10 would recommend to a friend. read more
