I've been here a few times to play trivia and I really enjoy this spot. The menu is actually surprisingly complex, not your typical bar food, elevated for sure. Dive bar feels, elevated food, right up my alley so far. There wasn't as many beers on draft as I hoped, but they have an excellent cans and bottles selection to make up for it. I do like the fact there seems to have a lot of loyalty from their customers. Just about everyone was regulars and good rapport with the bartender and staff. I always find this to be one of the better signs that the service and the quality of people working there. All in all, it's a good time. If you're a craft beer drinker you will definitely like it and if you like big sandwiches you will like it even more. Just take a look at my BLT. Definitely will be back to play trivia. read more

We came here for Friends trivia for my frienda moms birthday which seems to be a pretty regular thing - there's other types of trivia too. The best thing we had was the onion ring tower. Its thick onions in a really crispy batter- that breadcrumby kind, not just a lame flour type situation It had a three trough dip space at the bottom too. Beautiful Their wine bottles were 12 bucks and draft beer was half off (4 bucks) on Sundays. We didnt win at trivia but we'll be back to compete again read more

Very dated, smells like fish and must. Customers in the seemed very happy playing music bingo. Coleslaw and fries disgusting. Fish had a very odd seasoning on it. Taste strange. Fish was cooked good otherwise. I don't know. Try at your own risk. You may like it but it's definitely not for me. read more

WOW They know how to fill a small cookie sheet as that is exactly how your meal is served. I had the seafood platter which had shrimp, scallop, frog legs & perch + shoestring potatoes + a choice of 2 additional sides. Hubby had the cod with all the same choices. Our waitress Madison was friendly & very courteous & wasn't constantly hanging around. Food was a bit greasy but it was tasty. You can purchase beer & wine also. FYI-it isn't a fancy place but just a friendly, neighborhood place with entertainment. We saw quite a few families dining there & not one kid was screaming or running around this place. Wanted a nice family breakfast and all the local establishments in Fenton were busy. Decided on franks. They serve breakfast until 4 on Sundays. I had their breakfast special and my wife had the their chicken and waffle pizza. Both were amazing and very affordable. Their meat alone was fresh and very good. Not a great environment. Felt greasy when we walked in. Of all the coleslaw recipes around, this is the one they use? Awful coleslaw. Scrawny "hand-cut" french fries and clam strips. Low quality frozen food. When the dining room had less than 5 tables occupied at peak dinner time, that tells the story. The haddock and tartar sauce were decent. To spend $75 on dinner for two was ridiculous. Next time I will buy two filets and make them in a Cast iron skillet along with a baked potato and veggies plus wine at home. A far superior meal at a better price. Would not recommend. read more

I've given this place a go a few times and they just can't seem to get it together. Love the concept but execution needs some work.

We've been wanting to try Frank's for quite some time and decided to visit on Wednesday evening for "walleye" Wednesday. First, the place has some character, could be a nice little hang out. As for the food, the walleye (fried) was good and the portion was adequate. Although, I was under the impression you could order it fried, baked or blackened, our server said nope, just fried....I would have chosen another. The server said the meal came with a choice of 2 sides, yet when I received the bill, I was charged an extra $4.00 for the sides, $27.00 for the fish, $4.00 for the sides brings the meal to $31.00, not exactly a competitive price in my book. We ordered a shrimp cocktail appetizer, the shrimp was under cooked, almost raw but not. While they serve you 7 instead of the mainstay 6 (nice touch) the serving was not cold, the cocktail sauce flavorless and the presentation needed help as the goblet it was served in was filled with cole slaw and the cocktail sauce placed in the middle, once again, it was not cold which was a huge turn off. We had a pizza as well, pepperoni with basil. It was a good pizza, crust nicely done and the sauce flavorful. Our server was very nice but a little inexperienced, walked by us several times and didn't notice drinks at low levels. The condiments at the table for a seafood joint were less than adequate, salt, pepper and 2 splashes left in a balsamic vinegar bottle were it. The beer selection is great and as I mentioned the ambiance is there, just needs some fine tuning. Another suggestion would be to add a couple of non seafood menu items for those that aren't big on fish. Yes, there's pizza and a BLT, but something chicken would be nice and maybe lay off so much fried stuff, have some other options for the seafood. There's not a lot of places to go these days for seafood, Frank's has the opportunity to be a go to place, but is not hitting the mark currently. read more

Update from earlier review: We ate at Franks yesterday & it was very disappointing. Scallops were good! Fish & shrimp were good but the breading was way too thick compared to when they first opened. Fries were over cooked & not hot. The broccoli salad was hard to eat & nothing special or good for that matter. Pieces were way too big. The meal was pricey at $70 (for 2 with 2 beers) for a subpar meal. Not sure we'll be back. read more

The food here is not good and way overpriced. I had clam strips that tasted worse than the frozen ones from the grocery store. At least buy quality frozen clam strips! They were small and tasted fishy. Also ordered the onion tower. The onion rings were good but also frozen. The 3 dipping sauces were mustard, ranch from a bottle and cocktail sauce. Gross! At least make your own ranch, it's not that hard. The coleslaw was also disgusting. It definitely tasted like rotting cabbage. Do you guys make anything from scratch here?! You should try it. This place was on my list of restaurants to try based on reviews, and now I can cross it off my list. They won't see me again. I did enjoy the trivia though. Go for that, not the food. I ordered the perch dinner with fries and coleslaw. Perch was delicious, fries were soggy and the coleslaw literally tasted like dirty cabbage!! Service was horrible after our first drinks we had to go to the bar to get service. The entertainment was fun. It was trivia night. Which was fun. Definitely won't go back!!! read more

Met some friends for a Sunday lunch and had an excellent meal. The fish sandwich was excellent and for $10 (came with fries) I highly recommend it. Got some dessert to take home - lemon and banana cream pie slices - and they were also excellent! read more

Staff was friendly. Casual environment, nothing fancy. The calamari app was enough for 2 and very good; lightly battered. The batter was the same for the fish ordered and the frog legs... and there's a lot of it. That being said, if you like heavy batter, you'll probably enjoy it. read more

The Cod was superb, delicious and flaky white meat. The homemade french fries were terrible. Soggy, barely warm, gross. The Cheesy potato bacon soup was ok, for the price paid for each dinner you would think they would have used real bacon in it.. Instead they used bacon bits. Blah The service was good. read more

Basically fried seafood and pizza. Food was very good. Very basic nothing fancy. Pizza is made on a crisp slightly sweet crust. Some in our group loved the sweetened crust some did not. Service was excellent. Atmosphere was entertaining. Overall a decent place to stop for lunch. Prices are pretty high but seafood is not cheap. Very large portions. read more
