While s could if old school favorites (for my lovely wife) might have dropped from the menu many years ago, sure came to love their signature cheese steaks too. Honestly I'm not going to compare it with anyone's other favorites because this just happens to be mine. The best is getting it there and reading it hot but since pandemic, the seating is minimal. I've been craving a cheesesteak and decided to get takeout from here, so I'll be basing my review strictly on the food. That being said, this was a great spot! I ordered a small Frank's Choice, and it was delicious. The meat was tender and flavorful, and the cheese was plenty and tasty. I'm a terrible cheesesteak consumer and add lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles, but I loved it (please don't judge me too hard). I also thought you get plenty of food for the price, so the value is certainly there. Overall I was really pleased with this spot and would love to try some of their other items, hopefully in person. What can't I say about Frank's? This was my main breakfast stop with a fellow rower from Orange Coast College way back in like 1991, which we'd hit regularly for Frank's behemoth mega egg and bacon breakfast sandwich after early morning practice to the point we got to know the owner quite well. As the years went on, I've stopped by here several times (even after long moving away) and the owner himself still recognized me and remembers me with that fellow college friend wolfing down his sandwiches so many years later. Haven't been back in a while, but I'm due a (re)visit! I love that the place is in the exact same spot they've always been. Great food (breakfast or lunch or dinner) ALWAYS. Frank's is a no fuss good value sandwich shop. They have a broader menu than mist cheesesteak places but they deliver on those too. Prices are reasonable and service quick. There are several tables inside where the tv is on and Philly decoration is all around. read more

Portions, same, good but not stacked enough to be great. Quality/taste of the steak and bread also both good. The meat was delectable, the cheese was creamy, the onions and bell peppers, and banana peppers gave it an impertinent personality. The bread was soft and authentic Philly. The service was very efficient and friendly, the young lady at the register was a total cutie pie. The "dining room" was a bit of a disappointment, 6 or 7 efficient tables. The ambiance was kind of tired and grubby. I do want to mention the hand-cut fries which were very tasty and fresh. Sadly, Franks did not measure up to our uncommonly high expectations. This place is a joke. Who makes a chicken cheesesteak with cubed chicken and the bun was flavorless. I ate half of the sandwich and gave up with everything falling out of it because it's cubed chicken these guys would be run out of Philadelphia. I was expecting being so early they would only have breakfast available but gentlemen working there let us order anything off the menu. Mid. It's a cheesesteak so it still tastes alright but the meat is way too finely chopped. The bun is way too thick for the meat to bun ratio. There is no water at the fountain so you have to get tap water from the back or something? First time at Frank's. Parking lot is tight. Shares it with 7-Eleven and they put "7-Eleven parking only" on a number of spots. If you are coming with a few people, you might want to carpool. Inside, they are hurting for space also as you'll see boxes and supplies in the dining area and restroom. Combination of a sports bar/sandwich shop decor. One wall dedicated to Philly sports teams, with some Angels, Dodgers, Lakers, Clippers and Kings memorabilia on the other walls. You can smell the grill in the dining area so if that bothers your senses, eat outside or get it to go. Greeted by a friendly cashier who quickly took my order. Asked to use the restroom and found it is behind the counter in the back. As others have posted, extra boxes are stored there but everything functions so it will do. Sandwich, a regular with provolone, was very good. Just a little bit of dripping oil when demolishing it. Definitely worth a try. 5 stars for the sandwich, 5 stars for the friendly guy behind the counter, 3 stars for the environment and parking so 4 stars overall.
