I've tried several items from the menu. Two of my favorites are the breakfast sandwich and the tossed salad. Occasionally the salad has different ingredients but it's always good.

I'll keep this short and sweet, I like phillys, have had some good ones (but nothing comes to mind locally) Franks was good, but nothing great. Portions, same, good but not stacked enough to be great. Quality/taste of the steak and bread also both good. I would say try them, good option and you can't really go wrong, but my hunt for a GREAT philly will continue!

Coming from out of town, this joint is another diamond in the rough. Don't be fooled by the exterior. Inside transform you to a unique deli experience with delicious Philly Cheesesteak Hoagies. They are large, juicy with lots of cheese and freshly made breads. Definitely worthy of a visit!

Just stopped by for my lunch break and I'm glad I did because this has got to be the best Philly Cheesesteak I've ever had

I decided to stop by Frank's Philadelphia for a quick bite to eat. This place is great for a quick bite to eat. Its casual atmosphere and great service go hand in hand with its fantastic Philly Cheese steak sandwich. It is always made to order and with an abundance of melted cheese, it makes you feel like you are back in Philly. Come on down and order the works or any of their great sandwiches.

    No. 24 Combo Hoagie

This masterpiece is a large Combo Hoagie (no. 24), with roast beef, turkey and ham - extra pickle and onions. The picture doesn't do it justice. I should've pulled it apart and showed the innards - which I will do next time. If you're a sandwich guy like me, you don't want a bunch of weird sauces or grilled nonsense or any of that on a straight-up cold hoagie. You want quality bread, top quality meats and cheeses, and good portions - and Frank's knocks it out of the park. It was fresh, you could taste each of the different meats and cheeses. It was assembled with case, each layer added, not pre-sliced and mashed together. I am constantly on the hunt for the best hoagie out there, there are a few contenders in the Costa Mesa area, which I won't mention in a Frank's review, but Frank' is right up there at the top of the list .

Great sandwiches been coming here since 1988. I drive an hour and 15 minutes once every 3 weeks for my franks choice. Best cheesesteak around.

My best buddy and I rolled in here for lunch on Wednesday afternoon! We specialize in excellent sandwiches. The cheesesteak is what we consider to be the pinnacle of the sandwich arts! We were both very excited to have discovered "Frank's". The cheesesteak sandwich (#4) did not disappoint. The meat was delectable, the cheese was creamy, the onions and bell peppers, and banana peppers gave it an impertinent personality. The bread was soft and authentic Philly. The service was very efficient and friendly, the young lady at the register was a total cutie pie. The "dining room" was a bit of a disappointment, 6 or 7 efficient tables. The ambiance was kind of tired and grubby. I do want to mention the hand-cut fries which were very tasty and fresh. Sadly, Franks did not measure up to our uncommonly high expectations. We have been patronizing another cheesesteak emporium for many years. The sandwich was 4 stars, but the overall grade is 3.

Medium vs small is a rip off for the cost.

Fun tip, only order Small size. Paid $5 more for Medium for 1 inch of extra bread on the end.

Okay so if there's one thing that's worth mentioning, Franks does not skimp out on the meat. I got the #1 which I guess is the classic, I wish it had more cheese, or at least have been directly to get a different sandwich maybe? Nonetheless it was still good. The juice from the meat soaked into the bread which was just a flavor bomb. I've never been to Philadelphia but if I had to take a guess, it would look and feel what Franks is.

You chose the right cheese! I had a yummy tuna sandwich. I asked the young lady that took my order to choose my cheese. She did a great job. The Phillie Cheesesteak is the reason I'm here. I've heard great reviews from my friends. So, I had to pay a visit. Their hospitality made the ambiance great!

I was on a work trip and I was looking for a lunch restaurant. When I entered the restaurant I was greeted by staff. The staff were friendly and polite. I ordered a small chicken Philly sandwich. The chicken Philly was phenomenal and delicious. The bread was soft, chicken seasoned well with the onions and cheese were the perfect additions. The ambiance was customer friendly and vibe was upbeat. A great place to go get a delicious sandwich.

Doesn't that look appetizing with cubed chicken it was horrible
    Guy J.

This place is a joke. Who makes a chicken cheesesteak with cubed chicken and the bun was flavorless. I ate half of the sandwich and gave up with everything falling out of it because it's cubed chicken these guys would be run out of Philadelphia. I should've just stayed with Philly's Best for my cheesesteak which is so much better and you get chilies and pickles if you want them and it's cleaner than this place.

I know Cheez Whiz is not for everyone, since it has a very unique flavor and texture compared with something like American or provolone. Thankfully, Philly's Best provides that option when you want a Philly cheesesteak, and you can even mix and match multiple cheeses. One thing I like to do is mix provolone with Cheez Whiz for a unique, more Philly-style taste. Otherwise, I think the cheesesteak is fine in terms of the meat, bread, and cheese combination, but I do not think it tastes as good or as fresh as Jersey Mike's or several other local places that offer hot Philly cheesesteak sandwiches. That said, I like going to Philly's Best when I am specifically looking for that Cheez Whiz taste, and that is honestly the main reason I would recommend going here.

The Amoroso roll was soft and light; steak was chopped and tender mixing well with the onions, sweet peppers (that were sweet and slightly tart), and mushrooms. I've had a few Philly Cheesesteaks in LA and OC. The BEST cheesesteaks I find come from owners who grew up in Philly, forget the rest including bigbox and fastfood types (these are imitators), they don't compare. Authentic Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches should be "overfilled" with ingredients and "messy" falling apart in your hands. (I compare it to The Hat pastrami, if you know what I mean.) The only drawback at this location was how it smelled when you opened the door. More like cleaning liquids than food smell (I literally had to hold my breath while entering), but eventually went away. I WILL definitely come back or one of the other 19 locations in Southern California. Highly recommend trying at least once. Happy Eating and Fight On !!!!
