Have been eating at Philly's best for years now. Used to go for lunch to the one in Irvine, until my office closed during the pandemic. Happy to find one in Huntington Beach. I usually order the original cheesesteak (just steak and extra white American cheese). Bread is always fresh. Best cheesesteaks I've found in south OC. read more

Service is usually pretty good. Food is usually good at this location. Only go here for lunch so it's not too packed usually. But there is some seating arrangements outside that make it nice to sit out on a nice sunny day. read more

Ive been coming to this location for almost 2 years now and every...single...time the sandwiches are piping hot, fresh, and mouth-watering! I first tried the Nashville hot chicken, which is what first sold me on this place. Most recently, I discovered the Cooper Classic, now my new fave! Here, they always put a generous portion of meat. I don't typically eat Philly cheesesteaks but my friend wanted it and raved about it so we went. I got the philly's best. I loved the bread, it was soft and chewy and didn't get soggy. The meat was good, tender and not stringy. The peppers and onions were cooked perfectly. The only thing I really didn't like was the mushrooms on it. I typically love mushrooms but I think they use canned mushrooms which I hate. No biggie, I'll just ask for no mushrooms in the future. My kid got the ham and cheese with mayo and a side of fries. He ate it and he is super picky so it must have been good. They are very generous with the sandwiches fillings. It was close to closing and they weren't too busy but steady. Stopped for a quick lunch running after banking at Navy Federal Credit Union a few doors down. Located in a shopping center, there was plenty of parking and a small area of outdoor seating in front. There were plenty of indoor dining tables, too. The dining area is themed and decorated. They have an nicely lit menu board which is easy to read. They have a tablet to self order and pay or there is also a cashier that will take orders. The cashier taking orders was friendly and knowledgeable. The cook at the grill was busy preparing all the orders. Although they were busy, it didn't take more than 10 minutes to get my food after ordering with the cashier. I ordered 1 Mushroom Cheesesteak and 1 Pepper Chicken to eat out. The sandwiches were actually bigger than I expected. Some of the cheesesteak meat was a little too well done but the mushrooms helped offset the dryness. For the pepper chicken sandwich they mistakenly gave me mushrooms instead of peppers. I didn't bother to go back to complain or get it remade due to lack of time. So I ate it and actually enjoyed it. I will have to try the peppers next time. In summary, the experience was good. The sandwiches were flavorful, although a little on the salter side for us. My only suggestion is to double check your sandwiches before you leave in case there's a mix up. read more

I came here last Sunday for lunch with a couple of friends. I been here before and know that their cheesesteaks are solid. Both my friends got the mushroom cheesesteak with onions and I got the Philly Best cheesesteak which includes mushrooms and sweet peppers add onions. I never had their sides before and requested onion rings which they were out of. I got their fries instead which were good. There were only two employees working a young man working the register and an older man cooking. Both were courteous and professional and our food came out promptly. All three of us enjoyed our food. The place is spacious and there are tables outside so seating isn't the issue. I definitely will return and recommend this place to others. read more

This is your local cheesesteak place with a little bit more. They offer subs and fries and onion rings. I called my order in, and it was ready and correct when I came to pick it up. I can always count on it being filled with an ample amount of steak and in a fresh roll. They have "redecorated" the dining area to have a 50's diner feel, but...it falls a little short. It's hard to have any ambiance when the orders are being yelled out as ready every 5 seconds. It is not quiet by any means. I'm glad they're busy, but there has to be a better way. I went to South Coast Plaza again yesterday. Of course I could not be that close to Philly's Best and not get a Classic Cheesesteak. Today I ordered an Italian Hoagie with crushed peppers and extra onions with half fries and half onion rings. I apologize for not taking a picture before I started eating, but I was hungry. I did take a picture of half of my leftover Italian hoagie the next day. When I got home I took all of the ingredients off of the hoagie so that my bread would not get soggy. I also ordered a Classic Cheesesteak to go. I took lots of pictures of the interior. Some things have changed because of the pandemic. No more Wise Potato Chips, no more Peanut Chews, but they still have Tasty Cakes. I also learned that a Philly's Best opened in LA two weeks ago. The chef didn't have the address, but I did a Google search and it might be the one on Melrose.
