Just thinking about this place is making my mouth water. Forget Arbys, this place has the meats! From the sandwiches to the burgers to the gym bro steak plates, lunch will be not forgotten after you dine here. Plus on the way out pick up some steaks and side dishes for the family. Will definitely be back here with some friends.
This is fairly a new establishment. Clean modern decor. Order at the counter and there's a few tables for seatings-it's mainly grab and go. They offer tacos, side dishes, sauces, and sandwiches, as well as fresh meat if you want to purchase and cook at home. I ordered the birrira tacos and wagyu sandwich (it was highly recommended-pastrami?). The taco was amazing...one of my favourite; however the sandwich is definitely a miss. There was too much grilled veggies and not enough meat; felt that it was chopped and barely any. For the price, I would reconsider going back to this place-even for the tacos.
If you're going to do deli in Newport Beach, you might as well do a wagyu deli! This tiny place is packed with many sandwiches and other tasty options. We ordered the smoked pastrami, wagyu, and a roast beef sandwich, and they both came up pretty quickly. The flavor of both was unique, and the sandwiches themselves used very thick/tall bread. I'm less-much on the bread; it's so thick that it draws away from the overall sandwich, meat, and fixings themselves. These are some pricey sandwiches, but they are quite flavorful, and you do get a lot; we ended up taking half of each back home. Service is friendly and quick, and they have a super interesting selection of high-end meats in their deli case, although confusingly some are not price-marked (perhaps on purpose; if you have to ask!). A unique and high-quality sandwich stop.
Updating to three stars for me today because the place is pretty small - 3 small tables and a meat counter. That's not the problem, my problem is they allowed a dog to be carried in by a patron all the way up to the meat counter. Some of the customers had a look (including me), while others didn't seem to notice. It is a health code violation to allow animals into an eating establishment unless they are service animals. This dog didn't appear to be a service animal because it was not wearing any of the identifications service animals would normally have either.
I've always wanted to try Wagyu but never had before, so when we found Carniceria Wagyu in the Costa Mesa/Newport Beach area, we had to check it out. It's a small butcher shop where you can buy the meat raw to grill at home or ask them to cook it for you right there at no extra charge, which is awesome. There's a few tables inside, but it's more of a casual, takeout-style spot, not a full sit-down restaurant, which makes it way more affordable for what you're getting. We ordered both the Australian Wagyu and the Japanese Wagyu. The Japanese Wagyu was super buttery and rich. The first bite was incredible, it literally melts in your mouth, but after a few bites it gets a little heavy. The Australian Wagyu had more of that grilled flavor and a bit more lean meat, so it was easier to eat more of it. I think I liked that one a bit better. They also give you rice on the side and it was actually really good. Perfectly cooked, not mushy, and had great flavor, almost like they cooked it in broth. Overall, I loved this place. The meat quality was amazing and while it's not cheap, around $100 for the plate, it's still a lot more affordable than what you'd pay at a fancy restaurant for the same thing. Totally worth it and I'd definitely come back.
Costa Mesa, Ca. I'm often on the prowl for a great burger. This place has an excellent one. It takes a bit of a wait to get it, as this is not a fast food joint. Someone is in the kitchen preparing your burger from scratch. The first thing I noticed when it arrived at our table was how the meat extends well beyond the bun and that it is about 3/4 of an inch thick. The Wagu meat has superior flavor, the number one feature of this burger. The type of cheese is unknown but it didn't matter as it did not deflect from the wonderful taste of the meat. The bun held up well all the way to the finish. The fries on the side were good, they looked as if they were cut on the premises, somewhat large size but perfectly cooked and not even a bit greasy. There was a tomato in there with good moisture and flavor, it reminded me of an Heirloom, but I'm not able to verify that. Price was reasonable for a burger of this quality. I'll be back!
Kind customer service! I ordered as takeout and I am giving a three star because I thought the food was okay. It's pricey because of the wagyu meat, which is not an issue for me. I ordered the patty melt. Which was okay. The meat to bread ratio isn't equal even thought it's a 6 oz patty. It's greasy and sweet, the bread was poorly toasted. I ordered fries- which is steak fries (one of my favorite style). It's well seasoned however they clearly made the fries at least 30 mins before because it was not hot. Barely warm. I took a bite of the fries before leaving out the door. I also ordered a 1/2 Philly cheesesteak and it was underwhelming. Not much steak meat, but more pastrami and peppers in the sub. And they put my cheese sauce on the side which I was confused. I def wouldn't order that again. Also sandwhiches come with chips and a can drink. I learned about this place through a foodie IG and he raved about it. But idk if I am that impressed. I may try the place again and eat at the location and see if it was a different experience.

Friendly staff, the hubby and I ate outside since the inside tables were full. We came during lunch time, and this place does get busy during lunch. They did bring our food to our table, which was nice of them. My husband order e the Wagyu burger/fries and I ordered the Wagyu quesadilla. The quesadilla had huge portions, very favorable and the Wagyu was amazing! The horchata drink was good, not overly sweet like others.
The BF surprised me with the deliciousness from La Carniceria Wagyu. My first bite was of the Prime Steak Sandwich with cheese sauce on the side. I knew from the first bite that we had to go back to try other items, it was sooooo good. My second bite was Smoked Wagyu Pastrami Burger. The pastrami was and burger was smoky and juicy. My last bite was the Wagyu Steak Quesadilla and it was exceptional with their 2 sauces. Everything was so good... My boyfriend even bought extra Wagyu beef patties to make burgers at home. They are a small butcher shop/restaurant and the service was awesome. I Wish they were closer to LA but they are definitely worth the drive!!

I've been wanting to try this places for months after stumbling upon a video on instagram. My cousin was visiting from Switzerland and I took this as a chance to finally go. I got the Grilled Cheese sandwich and they got chicken tacos I think. But the grilled cheese was amazing. It also had Wagyu Pastrami in it and it had the best flavors. The bread was nicely toasted with what I assume is butter. Overall delicious sandwich! I want to try the other ones. They all sound good
Some of the best steaks you can get! My favorite is the tasago and prime steak sandwich. If you're in the area I would definitely recommend. Fresh, clean, and they have amazing customer service.

Tried just the waygu mac n cheese, it was pretty solid. Been hearing a lot about their burritos so will need to try that next time. It's a pretty casual spot, just a couple of tables inside otherwise this place is literally a carniceria. The waygu in the mac n cheese had good flavor and the proportion was adequate. The staff are friendly and food comes out relatively quick. There's a parking lot right out front. read more

Delicious! One of the best burgers we've ever had. So juicy! The steak bowl is also a great option with lots of flavor. Could do with a tortilla or something to be a little more filling but it tastes sooo good. Tamales are seasonal but also a top notch item. Best quality meat in all the dishes! Everyone recommends getting something with pastrami, but if it's not your thing, it still won't be your thing. It's like a beef version of bacon. Too salty for me but that's a personal preference. Everyone there is super nice. Place is pretty small with three two-seater tables inside and another three outside. read more

Taste vs. Value I came for the the Wagyu California burrito. At $24 it was good but not great especially considering the price. Was this $8-10 better than a similar steak burrito? No. That's not to say it wasn't a tasty burrito because it was. Hefty and satisfying. The shop has lots of specialty meat options, I can't compare the prices since I don't typically shop for those cuts. But the staff is friendly and the shop is super clean and has ok parking. Limited seats so not ideal for a large party. Overall, a good experience. read more

I love it! La Carniceria Wagyu has one of the most unique and flavorful hamburgers I've ever had. My smash burger had grilled onions, fig jam, and cheese. The meat was cooked perfect, the bun was amazing, and the fig jam was super tasty! I'm not sure what type of white cheese they use, but it was so good! I already have plans to return this week. The best part of it all is its only $12 with fries! This is an must try for anyone who likes a burger. read more

We had heard about La Carnieceria Wagyu and decided to stop for dinner this past weekend. What an absolutely incredible spot! The Wagyu tacos, Wagyu birria fries, and the Wagyu quesadilla were all phenomenally flavorful, tender, and packed with high-quality meat. You can really taste the premium quality. The restaurant was very clean, Marlene was super friendly and helpful, Angel, the chef came out to make sure everything was perfect. I mean, who does that!! Prime steak sandwich Coconut Horchata Fries Make it a meal you won't regret it I'm all about the fries tand I usually like them plain but what ever crack seasoning they put on these fat fries is worth every bite. Coconut horchata is something!!!! it's a perfect combination of ingredients served colddd so no ice watering it down. Prime steak sandwich was delicious I love Dutch crunch bread and I was in the mood for a sammich. This did not disappoint i wish the meat was sliced before going into my sandwich because I almost pulled out the whole slice with a bite lol Overall great flavor, friendly staff, deli vibes eating area it was a good time I felt relaxed while they played some Latin jams and I enjoyed my whole experience here. read more

Whether I'm getting meat to grill at home or just stopping by for lunch..this carniceria hits the spot. It's a bit on the pricey side but the quality is there. I like that they can cook slabs of meat for you to have on the spot for lunch if a carnivore diet is your thing. The pastrami sandwich has great flavor (juicy) and they are definitely not stingy with the protein portion. The only this is that the bread is toasted a bit much so it ends up leaving the roof of your mouth raw from how rough it is. But overall 9/10 for a sandwich. If I'm craving a sandwich and I'm nearby I'd get it again. I've purchased their salsas and the matcha pistachio salsa is the sh!t. Spicy but wow you can stop eating it. Also the guacamole and guacamole green salsas are great with the chips. I can keep going about everything I've had here but there's too many options. Great customer service every time and I always leave satisfied. read more

La Carniceria Wagyu is more butcher shop than bustling cafe. With only 3 tiny tables inside and 2 outdoors, the focus here is decidedly on the food, not the decor. Be prepared for premium pricing. Their Wagyu selection boasts cuts reaching $100 a pound. Wagyu Pastrami ($22): This Australian Wagyu pastrami (HALAL), served on marbled rye with melty Swiss and a kick of pepperocini mayo, is, without a doubt, the best pastrami experience I've ever had. The perfect balance of marbling delivers an explosion of flavor in every bite. Tacos: Here's where things get interesting. All tacos are street-style, so portion size leans towards the smaller side. Chicken Taco ($4): Perfectly decent, but the skimpy meat portion makes the price a bit hard to swallow. Prime Tasajo Taco ($6): This dried beef taco tasted suspiciously similar to a regular asada taco, and at $6, felt overpriced for the meager filling. Wagyu Birria Taco ($7): This taco redeems everything. This is birria royalty - exceptional taste, melt-in-your-mouth tenderness, and a consome that achieves the perfect balance of richness and salinity. The only downside? It's half the size of similarly priced birria tacos elsewhere. Overall, La Carniceria Wagyu excels in high-quality meats, albeit at a premium cost.
