Prior to yesterday, I would have gave this pizza joint 5 stars. We ordered a $20 pizza with half a topping on each side and charged full price for each topping. Pizza comes out in 20 minutes with paper plates that gets oil penetrated through the paper plate. We then ask for ranch dressing and was charged .50 cents. I understand the charge if I paid $5 for my pizza. You should blessed to have someone pay you $24 for a pizza and offer any condiments for FREE. As for the taste of the pizza. It was a 3.5 stars as it was very oily, cheese was sparse and not tasty. I am a local business owner and I would never treat any patron that enters my business this way. I hope things change! btw, don't use paper plates and over charge for a pizza and have smaller pizza boxes for customers that want to take home some pizza. We almost didn't go based on the number of stars but after reading the comments we were hopeful it was just picky folks who had a bad day. It's a small joint with big tables, for families I presume. We were greeted by a very kind woman and she offered for us to wait on the patio until a table opened up, which she thought would be soon. It was only 5-10 minutes later and we were able to be seated. The waiter was super kind and met with us right away to clear our table and get our drink order. I asked about the calzone, if it was fresh made and if he recommended it. He made a comment about it being so good you could hardly call it food, and yes fresh made. I had to order it based on that, lol. It was amazingly good! full of cheese and other goodies (you can pick 3). The crust was crispy but soft on the inside, baked to perfection. I had the other half for lunch and it was still perfect. We were greeted when we left just as kindly. I would highly suggest them for a nice little outing with family or friends. What a disappointing evening. The pizza was good, the service seemed slow (as it usually is)--but this man parked his Dodge Ram in the space directly at the front door. The staff seemed to know him---they all rushed the door and hugged him as he entered. He proceeded to sit at the end of the bar, talking LOUDLY to other customers at their own tables and then decided that he wanted to hear some sport game more than the Christmas music that was playing. With a control (I didn't see where he got possession of it) he proceeded to turn the volume of the game so the entire restaurant HAD TO LISTEN TO IT. If he's the owner or someone connected to the restaurant---he needs to learn to be aware of the size of the space, his volume and the importance of paying diners----starting with NOT parking in any of the prime parking spaces ----then leaving the T.V.s and sound alone! So I was craving pizza and I remember there's a great spot down the street from my house that I used to always go to so I called for pickup. Ive had takeout from this place a couple times now. Food is good. Little on the pricey side, but they got great lunch specials. i like there boneless chicken wings. Since they are new they have some kinks to work out. But nothing they cant fix. I've had a takeout orders or two wrong, but they've been really really good about fixing it right away without attitude. The owner is super friendly. My wife and I visited Franks this evening Monday 8-19-13. We walked in and were pleasantly surprised at the atmosphere then with the Food. My wife and I split the Bronx Bomber it was Great! food great atmosphere! In this shopping center you do have a choice a dead flat tastless sandwich from Subway OR...... next door at Franks a sandwich that is flavorful with quality lunch meat and cheese, complimented with good bread. BURNT CRUST and will give 10% on next order. As of this writing my thinking is there will be no next time. It is beyond me how a cook can put a pizza out that smells burnt. The cook had to know. I opened the box and the burnt smell hit me in the face. I am a regular and have eaten Frank's pizza once or twice a week for a long time.The pizza's are usually great. However, when a customer has a bad experience and the business will not make it right but insults you with a 10% refund; It is time to find another restaurant. I was excited to hear there was a new pizza place in Rancho so I went to try it out and was sorely disappointed. The place was packed and the cashier seemed clueless and overwhelmed by the business. The food was decent, overall, but I think I'd recommend that the kitchen staff begin to wear hair nets. Good thing I'm not too squeamish or I would have left after finding hair in my pizza. Twice. We ordered a sandwhich, antipasto salad and rosemary fries. It took 20 minutes to get the salad and after 35 minutes we still didn't have our Sandwhich. The fries finally came and they were super oily and tasted old hard and chewy. We had sent them back and we could hear the waitress tell the cook and that was very uncomfortable.. Therefore that's why we just asked for the bill for he salad and drink and cancelled the order for the rest of food that never came even after 30 minutes. Came here tonite based on the high raving of some people we met at a different restaurant. The pizza was heavenly. Definitely ask for the New York Style. We're do I start, I love the decor but my problem is with the staff. There not very friendly, I usually go during lunch for a slice of pizza and a drink which it doesn't bother me if there friendly or not because am in a rush. Three stars because the food is good and they have a decent selection of drinks. This place used to be fantastic, but now the customer service is truly lacking. I personally love "by the slice" places like you see Downtown. I mean it reminds me of New York, I'm a single gal, and the slices are huge. If I can get a beer or glass of wine on the side I'm happy as a lark. I was excited to have an Italian "pizza by the slice" place near me, but my bubble has been burst. Last time I went in I was told you could only buy the 32oz size soft drink to go because people asked for too many refills (but if it's to go why give them refills? I was not asking for a refill lol lol I was leaving after I got my food). I did end up waiting a while as it guess they didn't have any slices ready which I thought kind of sucked, but it was no problem for me to wait. I got my pizza and it was good as usual so I went back the next week. Then I was told there was only one kind of pizza you could buy "by the slice" and it was pineapple Uh what?? Frank's is an all around good pizza place. This is coming from a guy who prefers thick crust. What they lack in crust (for me!) they make up for with cheese and fresh toppings. The sauce is very good and items are made fresh upon request. I have been here a handful of times and tried sandwiches and wings in addition to pizza. It is all pretty good. Sometimes service can leave more to be desired but the food is not bad. read more

Pizza is good. I've noticed how the pizza has improved, no more burn spots. I'd say it's my first choice of pizza in Rancho San Diego.
