    Bathroom stall

Great service. Very friendly and professional navy veteran as a server. The maintenance man by name of Chester chec bathroom like every 5 mins. But what I didn't like about the bathroom which bugged me the fuc out was. In the stall, if you sitting down, the next stall got too much visibility in your stall. That shit gotta get reconstructed. That's literally my issue. My privacy. Had the dude been a creep he would've kept looking my way. But to my luc he didn't, pause. But yeah. Everyone seems to want to be there and want the business to grow. Love it. The chiccen and dumplings were awesome w salad on the side. I enjoyed the conversation. Very old school vibe. Nice looking place. I love the old gas pumps and old toys and art. Great amount of parking available on both side. Probably 60-80 spots total. And it seems like a good flow in and out. (Dirt lot)

Not open on Sunday. Place was soso. I was so hungry and they were closed. Who closed a truck stop restaurant on a Sunday ??

Food was decent, prepared fast. Good portions for the price. The waitress on the other hand was a zombie. No personality, no energy, no give-a-damn. I would grab food to go it I was passing by and hungry and eat it in my truck but would not go out of my way to eat here. I rank my decisions to eat somewhere again as: 1 star - if someone else buys it I won't eat it, I would rather go hungry. 2 star - if I'm hungry, no other options are open and someone buys it - I would consider eating it 3 star - I'm ok with eating it as long as someone else pays 4 star - I will eat again and pay for it and be a semi-regular customer 5 star - I will travel for good food and pay good money and be back on a regular basis and maybe even pay for yours just so we can go

    Horrible server

Franks is a throw back type of truck stop/restaurant. We've reviewed them before and really enjoyed it. Most of the employees are excellent...but there is always that "one" Not sure of her name but she has the coldest personality and has ZERO business being a server. The first picture is of her. There are two other servers that we have encountered and they are more than friendly and do an excellent job. I'm not sure if it's the pool of people that Franks has to choose from or if it's their pay rate. Either or, in the long run, it's not a really bad place to go.

    Open on a Sunday - 5:00 AM

I got out of work at 5 AM today on a Sunday morning and needed some good breakfast. Most places that I like open later on Sundays and most places are not open at 5 AM on any day. I haven't been here in years and I remembered they are open 24 hrs and it is not far out of my way. I came here for breakfast this morning (and my wife joined me) and we enjoyed it. I was very happy to see they still have real Hash Browns. I got a ham and egg sandwich which was great and the Hash Browns. They had onions in them - the way I like them. I like mine cooked more - almost burnt - but they had the grill off for a while for cleaning so they were not done as well as usual. Still good though. My wife had French Toast with a side of bacon. It was good too. The service wasn't fast - but it was friendly and steady. No problems. I'm looking forward to going back. This place is in the Bowers Hill area and right by where I-664 turns into I-64. The have some items that you don't see everywhere like salt herring and eggs. I think they still have salmon roe and eggs also. (I've added a few photo's from this visit).

Best thing about this place is their home fries...it comes with corned beef mixed in. Yes, that may seem confusing because it sounds like corned beef hash. But the pieces of corned beef are small while the chunks of potatoes are not. The Virginia Ham is a bit on the small side so I suggest the Ham Steak if you want something much larger. There's plenty of seating and a handful of stools at the counter. Breakfast isn't cheap but at least it's good, which is more than I can say for the service. The waitresses were definitely going at it while my brother-in-law and I had breakfast. I'm sure they have a love/hate relationship. And the service is slow going but friendly. Payment is made at the cashier window. It can take a while though, the cashier does triple duty as the cashier for the convenience store, restaurant, and window counter. Love me all summer...

Gratituty is automatically added to take orders.

I had the Smoked Sausage and Egg Breakfast which came with your choice of biscuit or toast and grits or fried potatoes. Well... I ordered take out and the service was fast . However; I was not aware that 15% gratituty was automatically charged on each ticket . My meal was originally $5.99, I added cheese to my eggs $0.50, tax was $75 and gratituty was $0.97. My total ticket was $8.21 When I got home I noticed my order was incorrect; I was given grits instead of fried potatoes. I only live about 6 miles away from Franks, so I took the food back and explained what was incorrect about my breakfast dish. Well, the short fluffy older waitress was disgruntled and took the bowl of grits from me and then yelled back in the kitchen "I need some potatoes". When I tried to hand her the take out box that had the remaining food in it, she told me "I don't need that". I expected for my food to be cooked entirely over; being that it had gotten cold and I had to wait on potatoes. When the fluffy women returned with my potatoes; I told her I would like a refund because the other portion of my food had gotten cold. She said "uh" really loud. I explained to her again and then she says loudly "ok" and she took the continers of food and walked off. In order to get a refund I had to speak to the manager. I HAVE NEVER SEEN GRATITUTY ADDED TO A TO GO" ORDER. I am aware that gratituty is added to a party of 6 and more. What if you receive horrible service and the waitress still got her tip.

They have a giant mimosa tower too if you're up for drinking If you come at around 11 on a Saturday or Sunday then you might have to wait 20-30 minutes and service might be a little slow then. When I walked in, the vibe was relaxing with the good music playing--just three tables and one person at the bar--but that didn't last long. Within ten minutes, five more parties dropped in, and the place went from zero to sixty real quick. The Service: A One-Woman Show I have to give a massive shout-out to Casey. For the first hour, she was "The House." She was greeting everyone, tending bar, taking every order, and running food. Even as the crowd swelled, she stayed on top of it. She got my drinks out fast, and while there was a wait for the food, it was totally reasonable considering she was flying solo until backup arrived an hour and a half later. The Food: Seafood & Southern Staples The kitchen is run by a single cook who clearly knows their way around a fryer. Even with a mountain of large DoorDash orders stacking up, my meal arrived hot and fresh about 20 minutes after ordering. The Main Event: Egg, Catfish, Shrimp & Grits with Texas Toast The Seafood: The catfish and shrimp were fried to perfection. Those shrimp are truly colossal and packed with flavor. My only minor gripe was that both were a bit on the greasy side, but the taste was spot on. The Sides: The soft scrambled eggs with cheese were a little too soft for my personal preference, but still tasty. The grits were standard, and the Texas toast was exactly what it should be: perfectly toasted and buttery. The Drink: I ordered the 50/50 tea. It came in a 12-oz plastic mason jar and hit the sweet spot--refreshing without being overly sweet. The Bottom Line Be prepared for the "fine print" on the bill. There is a 16% automatic gratuity and a credit card service fee. My total came to $41.33. Tea: 2.99,2 egg & Catfish:16.99, add cheese:.99 and side of fried shrimp: 9.99, service fee: 1.24, 16% gratuity: 4.95, and tax: 4.18 Honestly, even with the auto-gratuity, I had to slide Casey some extra cash. Watching her manage a sudden rush while keeping the wheels from falling off was impressive. If you go, expect a bit of a wait if it's busy, but know that the staff is working their tails off to get you a solid, hot meal.

I said how about some utensils to eat with? She left and never came back! Thank God we got spoons for the coffee or we would have had to eat with our hands!!!! Extremely disappointed, the staff was walking around but no utensils came? Then I got up to pay and the prices must have gone up without them putting it on the menu? If you decide to go, i wish you luck! As for me if I plan on spending over $30 for breakfast I will be doing it someplace else. I can't believe in the times we live in where the prices are so out of hand when you decide to spend the extra money to go out, it should be worth it!
