My family and I have been regulars at this restaurant for some time now, and up until today, the service has always been good. Unfortunately, today's experience was quite the opposite. Our server, Dee, brought out our bill, and my husband noticed an extra charge for a pancake. We explained that we had ordered: *an order of 3 pancakes for our son *1 pancake for me as a substitution for bread (with the $0.75 upcharge applied) * and 1 pancake for my husband as his bread substitution (again, the upcharge was already applied). Dee insisted that she brought out an order of 3 pancakes and one separate pancake at the same time. Then another one separately at another time and claimed she brought out a 6th pancake after asking if anything was missing. That's not what happened. She initially brought the order of 3 pancakes and one additional pancake (which my husband gave to me). When she asked if anything was missing, my husband told her his pancake hadn't come yet. She acknowledged it and went to the back. Later, the manager Angie brought out his pancake. At that point, Dee claimed that our son had four pancakes on his plate. I replied, "He had 3 (which is one order), you gave me 1, and then 1 was brought out later for my husband--so that's 5 total, not 6." I then asked, "If you saw 4 pancakes on his plate, why didn't you say anything earlier?" Her response? "Because I didn't want to argue." That comment was confusing and unprofessional as there had been no disagreement or conflict of any kind at that point. I told her it wasn't about the money--it's only $1.75--but it's about the principle. We didn't want to pay for something we didn't receive ( no one does). She responded with, "Ma'am, I'm not gonna argue with you. I know what I saw," and stormed off. A few minutes later, she returned, snatched the bill from my husband, removed the charge, then slammed it back down and said, "I hope you have the day you deserve." We spoke with Angie, the manager, who confirmed there were only 3 pancakes on our son's plate and that only one extra pancake had been brought out later (NOT 2). We appreciated her professionalism and paid her directly before leaving. It'll be a long time before we return--if ever. I'm not sure if Dee was just having a bad day, but here's a word of advice: accountability matters. Everyone makes mistakes, but how you handle them makes all the difference. This could've been a simple fix with an apology and a polite adjustment of the bill. Instead, it turned into an argument over $1.75 and cost this restaurant some very loyal customers who spend well over $100 here monthly. read more

We sat at a table after standing there clueless (there should be a sign that says to seat yourself if you are not being seated by a waiter). The ambiance is nice, people laugh and joke and seem to know each other. They took a long time to get us drinks because there was a mixup between which person was waiting on our table. I ordered the eggs Benedict and it was the first time I've ever not finished a Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was extremely rich which I would normally like but I'm not sure what about this sauce was off. It almost seemed cheesy. Also, I had sausage patty instead of ham, which I thought I was getting the sausage on the side (my fault) but the sausage was not good. Bread was barely toasted. I did not like the food here and I am not a picky eater, rarely do I not finish my plate due to dislike. The waiters and staff are nice and try to be accommodating but they are very busy. Great small mom and pop restaurant. Be patient as the food is worth the wait. The grill has been perfectly seasoned which makes everything cooked on it delicious. The sweet tea is real full sugary goodness. The coffee is strong and hot. The veggie omelets are light and fluffy. Found this place off the beaten path so I could get breakfast. As soon as I entered I was welcomed. I sat myself and was given a menu. The seating appeared to be ample as tables were being turned quickly. My waitress was very attentive and pleasant.I ordered a skillet and a 2 pancakes which came out very fast. The day we were leaving we decided to eat brunch but they canceled due from being sick so me and my good friend decided to come here to eat brunch. We knew it was going to be packed by the parking outside. We walked in and the waitress told us to sit anywhere. There was no seats available but this kind man David (Daily customer) gave us his table since he was about to leave. The waitress came over and cleaned it up and asked what we would like to drink then we ordered food. The place was extremely packed because of this it was definitely a long wait! This place is epitome of "small town diner". I know I mentioned it in my last review but coming back here reminded me of it all over again. Came here before church but they were slammed. There was a 10 top already sat down and a 12 top on the back of that one trying to come in. Because of that, our food took quite awhile to get to us. The waitress was super friendly about it and she did everything she could to make us feel comfortable but when food takes long, it kinda throws a damper on your excitement. Nonetheless, we did get our food and it was fairly decent. I think they rushed it a little bit b/c it wasn't as great as it usually is. We have been here many times but kept experiencing a lack of service unless you are a regular. Final straw came when 2 waitresses decided they were going to wait on a large group who were their friends who arrived 15 minutes after we were seated. It's worth it. Trust me. Okay, so right off the bat, let's set expectations. This isn't Morton's and it's not fine dining. If you go on a Sunday, expect to wait... for a seat, for a menu and for your food. It's worth the wait. I got a waffle with a side of scrambled eggs with cheddar, sausage and a biscuit. First, the eggs. I rarely like eggs in restaurants. Not sure why. Their scrambled eggs were legit the best I've had in a while. Done just right and didn't lack for seasoning. I'm glad I tasted them before adding my normally-obligatory dash of salt. I only added a bit of pepper. Next up? The sausage. Again, cooked just right. It wasn't dry, which I've just come to accept from most places. I wish it was spicier. But, that's a preference, and in this case, unnecessary. Finally, the waffle. It was bomb-tastic. It's what a waffle was born to be. Why aren't most waffles this good? The Specials looked good as well, so when next I visit, it'll be for lunch. In the meantime, you all need to hit Nix up. The Manhattan skillet: (3 eggs cooked sunny side up, hash browns OR cubes fried potatoes, onions and choice of cheese) this skillet was AMAZING! Eggs cooked perfectly, potatoes nice and crispy, honestly too much cheese for me but hey who in their right mind complains about cheese LOL, onions were nice and tender and it was overall great skillet. Pancakes: huge! And super fluffy. To sum it up this is a really good little food spot and not to mention AMAZING prices. I'm talking we fed 4 people with leftovers for 22$. I mean 22$!!!!
