Hidden Gem in Churchland Nix is the kind of place you stumble upon once and never forget. Tucked away in a nostalgic 1970s strip mall in the Churchland area, it's a true hidden gem that locals quietly cherish. From the moment you walk in, the staff makes you feel like family--warm, welcoming, and always attentive. One of the things I love most is how seamless the service is. After placing my order, drinks and condiments just appear without needing to ask. It's that kind of thoughtful touch that sets Nix apart. The wait time for food is impressively short, which is perfect when you're craving a hearty breakfast. My go-to is the soft scrambled eggs with cheese paired with their legendary fried potatoes--crispy, golden, with green peppers and onions and full of flavor. But this time, I decided to switch things up and try something new: eggs, cheese grits, and fried flounder. And wow--what a combo! The flounder was perfectly seasoned and fried to a delicate crisp, while the cheese grits added a creamy, comforting balance. Whether you're a regular or a first-timer, Nix delivers consistently delicious food with a side of genuine hospitality. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a cozy breakfast spot that feels like home cooked food Tip: The flounder is pre-breaded and frozen. $19.26 with two sides All credit cards 4% is charged

The best inexpensive breakfast in Chesapeake. Been frequenting Nix for over 20 years. Such a cozy, down home country feel. The food portions are always just right, food comes out hot everytime, the taste is perfect and the price can't be beat!

Mediocre... had chicken fried steak that I'm 90% sure came from the grocer frozen section. The hash browns were definitely microwaved, the toast came 10 minutes after everything so my eggs were already cold. The service was very friendly and everyone else's meals looked good (it was packed). Willing to give it another shot but wouldn't go out of my way for it.

    The country skillet !

Had an excellent and very filling breakfast skillet. It was a ton of food and very yummy !

Oddly crowded for a seat yourself dirty restaurant with bland food. At least the food is inexpensive.

This was my first time trying it out, and it really hit the spot. For those who don't eat pork and are tired of the usual turkey bacon or sausage alternatives, the beef bacon here is a welcome change. The cinnamon French toast was freaking amazing. It had the perfect balance of sweetness and cinnamon, with a soft center and a slightly crisp edge. The fresh strawberries on top made it even better. The beef bacon was cooked to perfection, flavorful and satisfying without being overly greasy. The cheese eggs were also on point: fluffy, creamy, and seasoned so well that I didn't even need to add salt or pepper, which I usually do. Portion sizes are very generous, so you definitely get your money's worth. The service was great too. Everyone was friendly, and I didn't have to wait long at all for my food. Just keep in mind that seating is extremely limited. It's more of a takeout spot than a dine-in restaurant.

We both felt our toast could have been toasted longer, but I was very happy to see they had rye bread, my favorite :0) The fried potatoes had a nice seasoning, as well. Id crisp them up a little more but that may be a personal preference. I love the nautical decor and the casual diner feel. It's a lot bigger than I would have thought from the outside. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. In the area and looking for brunch? Check them Out! I'll be back to try the omelettes, French toast and/or pancakes for sure. Maybe even their lunch since I love BLTs! PS I forgot to mention ruin the corn nuggets - my favorite of the day - hot and delicious especially with the honey! The ranch not so much but overall 10/10!

Our server took our drink orders but it took a lot longer than expected to receive them. The different flavored mimosas were yummy. It was delicious! We would come back for another brunch day.
