Well, this is my last review of 2025 and what a better place to conclude this year than Big Mikes Crabhouse ! We decided to stop in here as it's been a while since we last started here and the seafood is simply outstanding. The staff is very welcoming helpful and they will answer any questions that you may have and they make sure you're well taken care of. We had a pound and a half of the steam shrimp which are an extremely nice size and done to perfection and we also had the crabcake and two fried shrimp which were butterfly and the flavor is just incredible and the crabcake all crab and it was just amazing . The location is very easy. It's right next to the Hanover post office on the corner. There's plenty of parking along the street and in the back in their small parking lot and they are known for their crabs and there were people coming and left and right picking up their orders and they do a really nice business here. The inside is always very clean. Tables are clean and it's a small place but it's very relaxing and you can bring your own bottle as well. So if you're in the area and you're looking for some good crabs, shrimp and seafood give this place a try you will not be disappointed . Happy New Year ! read more

Purchased 2 dozen large crabs May 22. Crab meat in half the crabs on big claws were dry. Meat in small claws was hard in about a 4th of the crabs. Crabs Appearance was poor, which I'd consider dirty. Almost of of the Shells and small legs appeared chard black. See photos. Seasoning lacked flavoring; all you could taste was salt. We were looking to have lunch outdoors one afternoon. We were very pleased we chose Big Mikes. We of course had been numerous times for their great seafood menu. We had the Turkey club and Tuscan Chicken Panini. Both were very good and the Turkey Club was an actual old diner style club sandwich. Turkey breast was excellent. Happy New Year's Eve at Big Mike's Crabhouse!!! The food was absolutely amazing! From the onion rings, crabcake, that is full of crab meat, the fried shrimp, and the fresh freshly steamed shrimp, were just all so very delicious!!! This place in Hanover is very well known for their seafood, and by the pictures, you can see why. Everyone there is so very nice and accommodating. This is not a fancy place, you can go dressed very casually and enjoy all kinds of seafood. If you wish to, you can take your own adult beverage to enjoy with your meal. We saw a couple sitting next to us that brought their own beer. They could enjoy while they were cracking their crabs! my husband ordered a pound and a half of the large steamed shrimp that are served to you hot and with their own cocktail sauce, they were so big we could not even finish all of them, so we brought them home to enjoy today. We woke up today with no intention of getting crabs or seafood. An amazing Facebook post about a special got the ball rolling. They advertised a dozen crabs, a pound of shrimp for $50. My son and his girlfriend bought their steamer for $35 that had Crab legs, shrimp, clams and muscles. They were super nice and swapped out more shrimp instead of clams. The lady on the phone was super nice. My son and his girlfriend picked everything up and while waiting they said there was inside and outdoor seating. We were nervous about getting crabs on a special, expecting them to be small and light. Wow we were wrong! The food was delicious and good sized crabs and jumbo shrimp. The kids splurged for a quart of cream of crab soup and fries. Just as amazing. I did add more old bay to the soup but not a big deal. Try them out. We got 3 dozen medium steamed crabs - pricey, but full, steamed & seasoned to perfection! We had pre-ordered earlier in the week, and the food was ready when promised. I was very disappointed in my visit here. To start off the place was very hot in side. They had ceiling fans but none of them were turn on. Service was friendly and professional but slow.( not the servers fault) Food quality was also a issue. I had better overall meals of seafood. At non seafood places. I guess this place is good for steamed crabs. But for any seafood platters this is not one of my choices in the Hanover area. It has been years since I've been here. We were there on a Thursday around 5. The place was packed but no one working seemed overwhelmed. Everyone was very friendly and efficient. I had stuffed shrimp and my husband had stuffed tilapia. The food was excellent and extremely reasonably priced. We are from Maryland originally so we have had some great seafood over the years. Well we have been there I would say more than 20 times. We won't be going back. Our food was undercooked. We all got very sick. And was just happy to get out of there. Everyone was rude acted like they didn't want ours are anyone's business that night I nearly choked I waited over 15 min for a soda refill. My wife went up demanded some water and waited she ran out to the car and brought a bottle of water back for me 3 min later the waitress brought over a glass of water. This place is such a great bang for your buck! It's laid back and not fancy at all...but it's a crab shack, so what else would you expect? My fiance and I found ourselves here on a Saturday night and really enjoyed ourselves. Awesome service and the food was incredible! He ordered the all-you-can-eat crab legs (which came with 2 sides) and I ordered the steamed shrimp. Both were great and the prices were reasonable. While driving home from Baltimore today, I decided to check out Big Mike's. Several months ago a friend told me the food was delicious, and I was in the mood for seafood. The crab legs were perfect (wild caught, too!) and the broccoli salad carried me back to family reunions and covered dish picnics. I haven't had a meal this good in weeks, and next time I want to try the crab cakes. A bonus was the service: it was speedy and oh-so-friendly. We ordered through door dash and expected the food to be a little less than what it would be at the restaurant, but it's a pandemic. The crab legs were amazing (albeit incredibly expensive. The place we go without quarantines offers crab legs, shrimp and hardshell crabs AYCE for $50 at great quality and this was two clusters for $25.) They didn't come with any sort of butter which sucked but we took it as an oversight. We added a basket of hush puppies which were AMAZING (especially dipped in soup!) However, our entrees were each missing a side. Ironically, the broccoli for both of them was missing. From working in a restaurant, it felt more like they were out of broccoli or never made the side at all instead of a coincidence that they missed both entrees. For an expensive meal -- $180 -- I just think they could have taken the time to give it a double glance. Good but just not worth the price. read more

I enjoy their steamed crabs. though they may have been pre-steamed before, they are still great. They actually put the seasoning on them when they re-heat them, before you pick them up, there's a term for this in Maryland, but yelp don't allow me to use it here.
