Went in thinking we hit the jackpot on secret places for good food. Not even close. One waitress, was horrid. From the broken finger, to the slow and delayed service. The sweaty cook in the back window w tank top on should have told me to run. The bartenders applying makeup more than actually working? Cloth napkins all over bar floor. The place was dark, dirty and looked like I was under a building. On stilts. It was far from homemade. The bread was the best part. My husband had fish franchise. I had overcooked linguine and meatball. The bite I took of fish i almost threw up. Smelled bad and coated in layers of heavy flour and yolk. The sides he chose was boiled broccoli (frozen not fresh) and the six time baked microwaved potato was obviously from the weekend. I do not recommend this dump. We were staying in an AirBnB upstairs from the restaurant and something told me the restaurant was good. I was right! My children chocolate covered cherry Sri k was delicious but a lot more potent than I realized. The fresh baked bread was delicious! I had steak tips which were tender and delicious! Everyone was super nice and wanted to entertain our daughter who was the star of the show. They really gave a family friendly vibe. The place was not that busy for a Saturday night as we wanted to just unwind. It was nice to be around what felt like locals vs the instagram mom crowd which has changed the area I feel like for the worst. Prices are very expensive but I feel like for some reason prices all over have shot up in the past year up here. The main thing I did not like was the price on the bill for all my items did not match the price on the menu. I am not sure why everything was like ~50 cents more but it adds up especially when were already on a budget. They do offer a discount if you pay cash so maybe the menu price is the cash price but it is not listed on there. Typically the menu price is the price and they may offer a 3-5% discount with cash. OK - so tonight I went to Myrna's. 6:45pm ish. Bar was full. Hostess ignores my wife and I and walks away. Another waitress walks up, says hi, and then walks away. We awkwardly stand there for 5 minutes. Another party comes in behind us, sees how weird the vibe is and walks out. Hostess comes back, opens up her 'waiter book' or whatever that thing is, starts counting her tip money and eventually says 'two for dinner'? The restaurant has plenty of open tables. She says it'll be 10 minutes. At this point I'm so annoyed with the atrocious customer service that my wife and I leave. I was not rude - just not waiting 10 more minutes in this scenario. The hostess made a wise ass comment as we're leaving. Myrna's lost around $100 bucks on my wife and I and probably another $100 from the other party that left. $200 isn't all that much but this was in the span of 10 minutes. Make you wonder how often this happens. Myrna's is leaving money on the table. Really a bummer because the food here is really really good. Like really good. I really want to love this place. There is usually a small wait here for the food - because it's made freshly, but there was no reason not to begin seating us. These people had zero hustle. Hostess and waitstaff here really need to step up. We went to another close by busy restaurant and were seated and served immediately - not as good as Myrna's foodwise but customer service makes the difference. We haven't eaten at Myrna's. Why? Because the service was SO ridiculously bad that we left. We decided to try Myrna's tonight. We had a yen for some good Italian. We haven't had really good Italian since moving here a year ago, and the reviews of Myrna's seemed promising. We walked in. The restaurant is...well...drab. It's less than charming. It seems like it's a candidate for Restaurant Make Over. Not a good sign. We stood at the door. We waited. The wait staff was walking around doing stuff. They walked by us. Not one of the wait staff would make eye contact with us. No one greeted us. They walked by like we weren't there. Finally, after about 5 minutes of just standing there, the bartender walked over and told us that someone would be with us in a minute. No one came over. Again, the wait staff walked by without once acknowledging us. Oh, someone who one of the waitresses knew was greeted warmly. We were ignored for another few minutes. Finally, the bartender realized that no one was going to help us and she came over again. "Table for two?" Yes. "It'll be about a 15- or 20-minute wait." Huh? The place was half EMPTY. No explanation. We walked out. Perhaps they were short handed. Perhaps they just don't give a cluck about service. Regardless, we won't be walking in again. ******************* RESPONSE: Well, given the really caustic, rude and condescending attitude that you, the OWNER of this place, are publicly posting, this is indicative of what kind of service that you will get at Myrna's. You did NOT immediately acknowledge us. We waited for some time before you finally came over and told us that Jim would be over to take care of us. "Jim" did not acknowledge us at all. The two waitresses that walked by us did not either, but one did go up to one of the patrons who walked in AFTER us and hugged him with a warm greeting. She had the time to do that. You did come over again after it was clear that Jim wasn't going to attend to us and said "We can seat you in 15 or 20 minutes"...and we said, "This place is half empty and there's a wait? No, thanks." There was also a woman at the bar that was clearly upset about waiting when there were SO many open tables. She stopped Jim and he just brushed her off. Given the other two negative reviews from the night, it's clear you had an exceptionally bad night. To blame "diners like me" for your staffing issues...for your service issues...well, it seems that your stance is that everyone else is to blame for a bad experience but YOU. Nope, I didn't taste your food. My review was based upon MY total experience at your restaurant. I'm now extremely happy that I didn't wait to be seated, because based upon the other comments that were left about this evening, the service would not have improved. Don't worry. We won't be back. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We are Italian and frequent Italian restaurants in the MA/RI area often, so the bar is normally set high. But we understand that in New Hampshire, it may be a little different given the smaller year-round populations and efforts to appeal to many tourists. In terms of food, some things were really quite good: The fresh baked bread is delicious. The garlic butter and olive oil with seasonings served with it are very good. The bruschetta appetizer on that fresh baked bread couldn't be better and it's a good portion. There were 4 large pieces. Some things were just okay: We both ordered the chicken Parmesan with linguini. The marinara sauce is lacking in flavor, at the very least it needed salt. It's also very flat, no basil, didn't see any minced garlic, so I assume if they add garlic it's garlic powder. The chicken was fried a bit too long so it had a slight burnt taste/smell. To quote my husband "it's just ok." *Note: While we were eating our appetizers, a neighboring table also complained about the marinara sauce. DO NOT get the Pasta Fagioli. It was basically watered down marinara sauce with a few ziti noodles and beans. It was mostly broth/sauce. So as mentioned above, the sauce lacking in flavor the soup was also very disappointing. Definitely not the hearty, filling bowl that pasta fagioli is meant to be. I can understand they're trying to re-use available ingredients available to make soup to order, but I wouldn't offer it if it can't be done well. Or perhaps make small batches and when you run out for the day, it's out. We did not try any of the desserts because we had filled up on bread. But an adjacent table ordered the cannoli. It looked quite odd. The filling seemed to be very liquidy and flat on the plate while coming out of the shell, instead of the firm ricotta filling found in a typical cannoli. read more

Those are the golden days of great music. They have decent selection of draft beers... Bud, Stella, Sam Adams, and 603 Local microbrew. Good selection of wine too. For an Italian restaurant, I was surprised to see a mixed options in the menu... Like lobster roll, hamburger, steak, etc.... Not typical Italian restaurant food. I was curious about the Lasagna which was described in the menu as made of layers of shitaki mushroom, spinach in marinara sauce with melted cheese. Since the waitress said it was good, I went for it. Hubby ordered the popular chicken parm. They had a good selection of kids menu items, $5.99. But since my daughter wanted Mac & Cheese and they had a side dish of mac & cheese for $4, we ordered that instead. The waitress reassured me it's homemade mac, not the Kraft Mac & Cheese crap (sorry if you like Kraft). Dishes came quickly and the chicken parm did not disappoint. The chicken was tender, can cut with a side of fork, just simply delicious. My dish, however, was a let down. I didn't realize it had no pasta in the lasagna at all... And I can't seem to find any shitaki mushroom either, even though it specifically said in the menu. It was just layers of spinach with melted cheese in marinara. I was not impressed... I think it could be good if there were actually lasagna pasta and mushroom in it... Maybe they forgot those ingredients? I will never know. The size of the "side" mac & cheese was big! It was good, but I had better. My daughter only had a few bites and moved on to my hubby's dish.... yup, she knows what's good. I Wasn't full after my cheese with spinach dish, so decided to try their chocolate mousse cake, hubby ordered a cannoli because that's what you do at an Italian restaurant. My chocolate mousse cake was heavenly. Creamy, rich, not too sweet.... I can eat this all day! But the cannoli was not good. Our expectation of a cannoli would have a crispy shell filled with rich, creamy sweet cream. This cannoli we got had the nice crispy shell, but the cream center.... Which is the key of a great cannoli was pasty, off putting texture that I can only describe as across between pudding and gelatin, not sweet at all. My hubby was heart broken because he had such a high hope! So all in all, this place's price is right, portion is right, decor & mood is right, but food is hit or miss! read more

We just moved to the area and needed a place to eat since we hadn't unpacked anything yet. We brought in three exhausted small children at 7pm and the staff were AMAZING. They were gracious, enthusiastic and courteous. We felt at home, like new neighbors being welcomed in. The food was delicious as well. We ordered chicken, pasta, garlic bread, flatbread pizza, and a salad, and all were foods I would recommend. We will absolutely be returning. Additionally, I found their prices to be insanely reasonable. With the three kids each ordering their own food, plus our food, which included an appetizer, our total came to $42. Food: I ordered their bruschetta for an appetizer, their Chicken Parmigiana for an entrée, some garlic bread and some flavored bottled tea (I think it was Peach tea). Their bruschetta was good and I enjoyed it. It was toasted bread with LOTS of tomatoes, capers, and I think oregano, cilantro and olive oil. The Chicken Parmigiana was very tasty, the chicken is an actual chicken filet with a nice seasoned bread or panko crust and plenty of cheese on top, it comes with one of two choices of pasta and marinara sauce, which was good too. The ONLY complaint I have in this area is about this restaurant is that the tea they served was botted tea and so I'm sure there are no free refills and it really wasn't that good to me. I think serving bottled teas is a bit tacky and low brow for a place asking the prices they are asking. Cost: Their prices are a bit high, more than I think I should be paying. For example, the Chicken Parmigiana was about $16.00, that's for a filet of chicken, some marinara sauce, a little cheese, panko and pasta. If you consider the recommendation is to price meals 3x their cost, this is way over priced. For the appetizer, the entrée, garlic bread and the small bottled tea, the bill was somewhere around $33 with tip which I think it a bit high for one person. Dining Area: Nothing special, standard seats and tables and I think some booths. Parking: Parking isn't a problem. Service: Service was good, the waitress was friendly and the food came out within a decent time frame. Summary: Despite me thinking the food is overpriced and I don't like that they serve bottled tea, the food IS good, so when I don't feel like cooking at home and I don't mind blowing about $30-$40 on myself, I would put them on my short list, but at that price it will not be often. We are local and tried this restaurant on the recommendation of friends who said they liked it. The location is a bit odd, but not a big deal. The good: The waitress, though a bit timid and uncertain of herself, was very attentive and did a fine job. The warm bread and olive oil dipping sauce were great. Drinks were brought quickly and no issues there. My hubs had the chicken marsala special and loved it. I had the haddock with asparagus and those little potato things. Very tasty. The bad: The atmosphere is very drab. Almost depressing. And the first thing I noticed when we walked in was the musty smell - like a wet basement. The ugly: Oh, the bathrooms. The first time I went, right when we arrived, there was a horrible smell (like a port-a-john at a track meet on a hot day) that I chalked up to someone with stomach issues using the men's room (which is right next to the women's room and both doors were open.) However, when I used the restroom again before we left, the smell remained, so I was left thinking that maybe there a sewerage leak or something. Unfortunately, because of the offensive olfactory issues, we would not go back unless the restaurant is remodeled or, better yet, move to a better location! read more

No candle or even a flower on the tables. $14 for an alcoholic beverage is totally absurd. Even at high end restaurants they are not $14. Kids menu was very affordable. Now for the food. Raviolis were to die for, I would have licked the plate if that was allowed. The sherry sauce in the raviolis was so rich and thick. We also ordered chicken parm. Sauce was delish and chicken was cooked perfectly. From the kids menu we got a cheeseburger. To the surprise of my child the hamburger came on a garlic bun. He loved it. We did not order dessert but saw someone get the chocolate cake which looked very dark and decadent. The portions were large but not gigantic. First complaint is that the server who waited on us on 7/22 is a thief...we gave her a $50 gift card and she said it would only process for $40, as there must have been a $10 fee. I called the number on the back of the card and, yes there was a fee, but it was only $2, so she stole the remaining $8. In addition to that our bill was in the $60's we gave her the $50 gift card and $30 cash and she brought us back a bill with a balance owed of $25??? When we brought this to her attention she said oh yeah. Watch out customers as this server has obviously been stealing for sometime. We were on vacation staying at a resort that provided us with a coupon for a complimentary appetizer with two entrees at this restaurant. When we tried to use the coupon we were told it was not acceptable because it was printed in black and white and looked like a copy. We were asked where we got the coupon and we told them the resort had provided it to us. Neither the server nor the manager would honor the coupon or even call the resort. I told the server I would report this to the resort and when I did the resort said the restaurant did call them around 10:00 p.m. and that they should have honored the coupon because the resort always prints them out in black and white. The atmosphere and the food were average at best. Not a good experience at all. I would not go back or recommend them. read more

My only regret is that we didn't try Myrna's sooner! We've been driving by for years and just never seemed to stop. Last night we went in and immediately were SO pleasantly surprised! We were greeted by the kindest gentleman, Jim. We were then introduced to all of the servers, because they asked if it was our first time. We had a little bit of everything. The Caprese salad was so fresh, delicious and plentiful. The meatball sliders...OUT OF THIS WORLD! You can always tell a good Italian restaurant by their meatballs. Service was horrible the second time around. Our waitress was training someone and was neglected the entire time. I had to ask the bartender for extra napkins, ketchup and another drink. The young bartender got scolded for servicing me. I ask to speak to the owner and I was told she is too busy cooking and couldn't speak to me. There were only two others in there and not less than 3 minutes after she could t come out she came out and stood 3' from our table and chatting with a friend/family member for over 10 minutes. The only good thing I can say about this place is that my daughter's shrimp scampi was very tasty. But it was offered on the menu with two pasta options and two vegetable choices however we were told it wasn't possible to have spinach and pasta together because, "The kitchen is too small for that. We only have 4 burners." We were served by the barmaid (so we thought, turned out to be the manager and one of the owners) who was rude and very slow to serve. A waitress took pity on us for waiting so long and brought us the bread and oil dip which should have been brought to our table about 15 minutes sooner. We also had a pricing issue so we asked to speak with the manager and we were told that our waitress was the manager. She turned out to be more hostile than a wet badger! She blamed everything on the hostess who seated us and blamed us, the customers, for expecting decent service. I will add that the food is also overpriced! Nothing could ever get us back there.
