Frays is a local gem. My grandpa would take me when I was little and this is still one of my favorite breakfast spots! The place is a little small on the inside but they also have a drive through. Everyone is so nice! They do charge a fee for credit or debit cards so use cash if you want to avoid the fee. You literally can't go wrong. I tried a half dozen of their pastries and all of them were so delicious. The cronut was my favorite, so flakey and perfectly glazed. Blue berry danish and apple fritters were also very good. They're a little bit pricey, I think I paid close to $20 but I think pastries are obviously uncharged from regular donuts, but other than that, 10/10! read more

Great selection of donuts from classics (plain cruller and sour cream) to fancy ones topped with frosting and cereal. Everything we tried was delicious! I was sad and skeptical when I walked in one day to find new owners, but hey... give them a shot... first time slightly disappointed, Apple Fritter no longer "5-star"... maybe a 2-star? Breakfast HEC Croissant... skimpy... and prices all increased and a small notice posted for an added 3% fee for credit cards usage!!! Now today... bought two Cronuts, dry, stale... guaranteed from yesterday or older and worse part is a RANCID OIL AFTERTASTE!!! That's not healthy to consume. This is my new go to donut shop when I'm in Pinellas Park. The donuts are fresh and delicious. While I LOVE anything with a drive thru this one was pretty backed up. To my surprise an employee was coming out to the cars to get their orders started so customers could get on their way. The staff was pleasant and the customer service was 5 stars. My friends and I did not enjoy the doughnuts here. I am a doughnut fanatic, so I was really pumped to visit a new indie shop. When we walked in, it smelled really good, which is always the first thing I take note of to determine if a bake shop is legit. Unfortunately, the doughnuts did not impress. It's a bad sign when you don't finish a doughnut, and a couple of them went unfinished. They all look great, but there's something off about the dough itself. And they left too much of a greasy print in the box. The peanut-topped one we got tasted a little stale. The worst part was biting into something you think is gonna be fluffy and delicious, but it just gives way and sort of sinks into nothing. That was unfortunately our experience with the yeast doughnuts. The shop itself seemed a little rundown. The tables were not very clean. It sort of looked like a 24/7 diner. We asked for waters, and my friend was brought a dirty glass. I like to try out indie places, so the chains don't eat up all the business. But we'll not be heading back to Fray's. read more

Traveling back home to the St. Pete area means leaving in the morning a lot. Thus, I usually need a quick to go place for breakfast. The typical Starbucks/panera/wawa gets old after a while so I love to switch it up with small shops such as Fray's donut house. Walking in, its dead quiet. No ambient music. No talking (covid so no one can dine in). I expected at least some music. The man behind the counter was friendly and attentive. He patiently helped us order and we were out in no time. I personally ordered a black coffee, a cronut and a apple fritter to try (no maple bacon donuts today ). The coffee was and delicious! Definitely an enjoyable sip. It paired well with the cinnamon sweetness of my apple fritter. The apple fritter was lacking in apple flavor and chunks. While the dough was good, it just wasn't an apple flavor. The cronut left room for improvement. It was a little over done and a bit heavily glazed for my taste. But the inside was delicious. You could distinguish the croissant layers and the donut mash. Aside from the outer doneness, I enjoyes this with my coffee. For stopping in on a Sunday morning at 11am, they didn't have a lot left for choices (presumably because they sold most during a breakfast rush). This Wednesday deserves a little #ThankYouThursday magic. And so here it is. Thank you Fray's for being the closest donut shop offering me a real authentic yeast raised, deep fried, red dye 40 topped, donut. For a Texan gal a donut is real business. I can't be bothered with boutique-y cake donuts, or pistachio scented creams. Sure, there's a time and place for those shenanigans...but if we are talking donuts there's no dobuts about it Fray's is the top of the top around here. This location is arguably the best (Keep reading time see my argument for this). The drive thru is convenient. The service is wicked friendly. They are never out of red iced donuts (when I go). They give you a heck of a lot of napkins. Which on that note, why do donut places always have the lamest little, wafer thing napkins? If I'm getting a donut and actually wearing pants and shoes (I was recently informed that driving without shoes is illegal- so much for my perfect record) the parking situation is sufficient and the spaces are wide. Fray's is the St. Pete donut CHAMP. Please note, they are closed on Monday (ICYMI Mondays are optional according to St. Pete bizs) because absence makes the heart grow fonder. read more

OMG! The donuts were delectable! I was over zealous, thus I ordered a breakfast sandwich, donuts and a cappuccino. Of course everything is better with bacon... so bacon egg and cheese on a croissant it is. It's fresh, it's toasted, it's cheesy and delicious. The cinnamon roll was to die for. Decided to grab some Halloween donuts for the office and chose Fray's over the cute mini donut place with the fancy designs. I chose Fray's because they're the freshest, tastiest donuts and never do I have to beg someone to take the last one. Now I've been to Fray's several times and NEVER have I been disappointed. They are military and veteran friendly, and often you see the same small groups there congregating and sharing stories. A nice, cozy sit down or take out place. This particular day we had 3 people in the office who gobbled up a dozen donuts in a matter of seconds. Sure it sounds dramatic, but there wasn't a crumb to be found by lunch.
