We ended up here for dinner and drinks with a hangry family. This place has lively music and a lot of people drinking. Not a lot of space for movement. Tables felt very crowded. We tried a couple other places but couldn't get in so stayed here. Food was subpar and VERY SLOW to come out. Like an hour to get our food. Our waitress was sweet but she did not check on us, offer more drinks or really do much at all. We had to track her down to order a second round and get the check. She. Ever asked how anything was going and was standing around doing nothing often. We had a salad (waitress said did not need protein but definitely did), bowl of soup (which was cup size at best), two tacos (for $17 not anywhere worth it) and a sandwich that my son did love. Don't waste your time or money going to this bar. They denied me and my cousins drinks when we are over 21. (We we're with our family as well) We offered over 3 different forms of identification and to call the cops to get it settled. The manager was extremely rude and yelled at his employee to not serve us when she approved our identification and scanned our ID's. No one should be treated this way ESPECIALLY their own employees. He belittled us women and his women employees in front of the whole bar. We thought this bar would be a convenient due to the fact that we are staying on vacation near by. Our adult male family members were treated perfectly fine, but once us women showed up the man manager thought it was okay to be extremely rude to us. Would have been understandable if the restaurant was busy but there was about 10 people in the building including us. Waitress came up to us 2 times and never checked on us to make sure our food was okay (which it was not). Any decent waitress would not have treated any customers this way. We were looking for a restaurant that was family friendly and offered outdoor seating. No one greeted us when we walked in and I had to ask someone if it was a seat yourself restaurant. We found a table big enough for our group and it took about 10 minutes for someone to come to our table. Service was very poor throughout our entire meal. They also neglected to tell us that the kitchen was backed up and it took over an hour to receive an appetizer. During that hour we were checked on maybe once. When our food arrived, one individual in our party did not receive their food and no one came over to apologize for this inconvenience. Great spot, parking is a bit of a problem but after 5 more opens up. Food is better than good, been here several times and always good + food. I order Teriyaki wings 50 mins later on a Tuesday I received Mild wings. Ate one right away noticed they weren't teriyaki; at the same time another waiter was delivering our wings to another table. The short stocky waiter (JJ) should leave the restaurant business and move to mars. Worst customer service waiter I have ever experienced at a restaurant. That being moving back to the wings the waiter came up to us rudely and said "you seriously didn't realize those weren't teriyaki". Then proceeded to give us teriyaki sauce and the other table mild sauce and called it a day.... unreal... the potato skins are the worst and taste disgusting. After watching the sunset over the gulf we went searching for a dinner spot on Anna Maria Island. Since it's a holiday weekend everywhere was full to overflowing. Coming across a rare parking space, we walked down the block to this establishment, which was completely unknown to us! What a stroke of luck! The patio was full and we went inside where we were greeted by a hostess of my generation. After inquiring whether we're were there to eat or drink (some of both) she showed us to a table on the far side of the bar...assuring us that the kitchen was open and that we would appreciate the secluded seating. Yes...the kitchen was OPEN and the meals were spot on Irish. I haven't had a corned beef and cabbage dinner like this since my Nana Murphy passed several decades ago. Adding a draft Smithwicks and we had a terrific dinner! As for the secluded location....perfect. The FIN continued to fill with party goers who came to enjoy the fantastic band. Locals and visitors alike were having a great time. We did not stay long but I understand the party lasts until 1 AM. Early or late--this is the place to go on Anna Maria Island! read more

Wow, where to start with this great pub? I think most people start with how good the food is here and it did not disappoint. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it's one of the better ones I've ever had. The Guinness taste good as well(only knock on the whole place would be they use the 16oz glasses instead of the traditional 20). Good whiskey selection and very reasonably priced. There was a great acoustic guitar player singing who had a great voice. The decor and layout is very well done as well. But I think what stood out to me the most is the staff. They seemed to genuinely love what they do and it makes such an impact on the customers night when that is the case. Eileen, Sean, and especially our bartenders Chava, Hunter, and Lindsay made sure we had a great night. 5 Stars, can't say enough good things about it. We had identified this place as one we'd like to try while visiting AMI but went there for lunch on a whim. I'm glad we did. It wasn't busy at all and we got lots of attention to from the server/bartender, Chris. This is a really cool Irish bar, great ambiance and decor. The food was excellent too. The pretzel bites appetizer was really big. I got the Dubliner chicken sandwich and it was yummy. The fries were to die for! Just amazing. Our party also had a 1/2 lb. burger, wings, kids Mac and Cheese (which was Kraft, but listed that way on the menu) and a hot turkey and pepperoni sandwich. All was good. The service was amazing. Drinks were always kept filled - in fact Chris brought us a pitcher of water and lemonade for the table and kept my drink filled as well. He was a super guy and very personable. We were on vacation from 10/22 - 10/30 for a birthday on Anna Maria Island and we stumbled across Freckled Fin . I have to say from the moment we walked in we were very surprised with how welcoming and engaged the staff was. We met the owner Rick Hurst (sitting at the bar) and he was so helpful with assisting us with our plans and giving us a "lay of the land". I really like how the bartenders would engage in conversation with us. Bartenders Mick and Steve were very fun to chat with and really know how to make a good drink. Our group of 16 ended up visiting the place multiple times and we ended up inviting Rick and his wife to our birthday party and we were so pleasantly surprised that they showed up. What a great group of people that work at the Freckled Fin. *** THE FOOD IS AMAZING*** The best Rueben sandwich I have ever had. Hats off to chef Mike!! Must I even give one star? Home owners on the island. In our mid thirties. Stopped in about 9pm for a drink before returning to our beach house and I was almost knocked over by the bartender/server stumbling across the outside patio. Made sense when he went behind the outdoor bar and chugged the rest of his pint glass of beer. (You may think I am joking...I am not) He the proceeded to loudly ask why we were looking at him for a drink when the area was closed. (Plenty of people still sitting outside). Condescendingly instructed us to "Walk inside to a bartender who is still serving and order an drink there. That's what you do" (Suspenders and beard...which doesn't matter except I want readers and his hiring manager to know exactly who this "employee" is) Freckled Fin, your cute atmosphere wont last long with staff such as this. Kudos to the couple with enough class to see what happened and stand up for us! We left anyway. I'll stop back again though...simply to speak to a manager. BTW...GO TO THE DOCTORS OFFICE NEXT DOOR!! Fantastic food!! House made infused bourbon and classy staff that respect those who bring them business. The first time we tried this restaurant for takeout it was not so good to be honest but after talking with the manager Steve he has went above to make us happy, including refunding is for our orders and getting me a drink on the house for my 21st birthday when we went back to give them a second chance.
