Very Yummy Food! The atmosphere is Native American culture and is located right next to the gift shop. We got the special of the day, "Patty Melt" which was satisfying. The boys got hamburgers, just average. Must try the onion rings and go on the drive through the Painted Desert at the national park! Go for this historic Route 66 attraction

A very sweet older woman was our server. She made sure we were well-tended to and we had everything we needed. I ordered huevos rancheros with red sauce. It was very good. It came with flour tortillas on the side. The tortillas had nice flavor and were very soft. They were different than tortillas I normally eat, but I'm used to Baja-style Mexican food. I thought the beans were flavorful, but a little on the dry side. I think they were on the plate too long before getting to me. Husband got the daily special with tacos. He enjoyed his meal and found it to be a good value. Dining room was clean and comfortable. Restroom was clean and well-stocked. If you are passing through, give this place a try. It seems to be a local favorite.

Waitress was awesome though. She is the only reason we stayed once the food arrived. No other customers were there.

Since it was a Monday night in Heber/Overgaard and many places are closed, we decided on "south of the border" fare. With several choices available to us, we selected the latest addition to our community, Taqueria Suarez. An Excellent choice it was! First of all we were impressed by the size of the dining room, open seating with comfortable booths and tables, its high and spacious environment and soft lighting. Second, we could order informally up front while observing their vast menu of "Tacos and Tortas." The house specializes included, "Heber Tacos made up of in house prepared carne asada, Anaheim chili, cheese, avocado, with sides of rice and beans to Overgaard Burritos filled with the freshest of ingredients." I was impressed that the most expensive item on the menu was only $15.00, and that was called "Flaming Nachos w/Cheese and Hot Cheetos." Yet to try! Sheri and I both had the "Fish Taco and Shrimp Taco plate." We were pleased to see our entrees piled high with fresh lettuce, pico de gallo, and drizzled with sour cream." The fish was lightly breaded and mild while the shrimp was plump and plentiful. It goes without saying that the parade of patrons proved the success of this restaurant. We'll certainly be back soon and so should you as well! Taqueria Suarez, located near the intersection of hwy 260 and 277 in Heber/Overgaard.

I tried the carne asada chimichanga, it came with rice and beans on the side. I also got a side of sour cream and guacamole and a large aqua fresca. The chimichanga was nice and crispy. The carne asada needed more seasoning but overall was tender. The rice was light and fluffy, but the beans lacked any flavor. I don't understand why restaurants struggle to flavor their refried beans. Their guacamole was fresh and had good flavor and the sour cream was nice and creamy. The agua fresca was decent but didn't taste homemade, so not sure what the deal was with that. Overall it wasn't bad, maybe next time I would try other options if we are in the area.

I really loved the frybread here. Fresh, perfect texture, delicious…read more I also thought the owner was friendly. Awesome stop during a visit to Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests/ The White mountains. Note that they open at different hours than those listed on Google Maps and do not update the hours on Google when they are closed during the listed hours. They do post on their Facebook page when they open and are responsive to messages on there. They run this business from the back of their home. I got the fry bread with beans but got them as a side (Was charged same price of $6.50 for frybread with beans). They do not use lard in the frybread and do not use lard, chicken stock or beef broth in the beans. They surprisingly didn't know the word vegetarian and at first told me they don't make vegetarian food but the fry bread and beans were naturally vegetarian (and vegan) based on the ingredients they listed when I asked to clarify. Their Frybread is made with enriched bleached flour, baking soda and water. Beans are made with vegetable oil and salt. The beans were simple but good. We like them more after we added salt that was available on the condiment table. The condiment table had raw honey and various mainstream hot sauce (some hot sauces were past their expiration dates) They had a sink in the front which is useful after eating the honey. They have some tables in the front. Their home and business is located on the Fort Apache Reservation. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! An Evie favorite!
