Made reservations a month away & confirmed with restaurant for my party. When the time came we waited for 2.5 hours for our food. They did have signs displayed for short staff but they did call and i could've accompanied the restaurant by ordering taco plates for my party for having short staff. When paying for our food we did ask for a discount but got told no. Manager and owner will not be adding discount. There was another party there which they were disappointed as well with no discount well waiting almost 3 hours for our food. 5 for lunch last week. Not fancy but reasonable prices and good food. They were a little faster than last time! I order chile rellenos all the time, this one came with 2 chiles but no stalk/seeds to cut around! Never seen that before - makes it easier to eat. My wife and I were staying overnight in Holbrook and decided to eat in our hotel room. We ordered takeout from Romo's. When I walked in, the first thing I noticed was that about three-fourths of the tables were occupied (a good sign). The patrons all appeared to be locals (another good sign). When I asked for my take-out order, it was ready. I asked if I could add to my order and the employee was happy to accommodate me. I ordered a meat and bean burrito with green chili sauce and my wife ordered a chicken enchilada's (also with green chili sauce) and taco dinner. We both loved our meals. My burrito may very well have been the best burrito I've ever eaten. Good food, good service and fair prices. What more can you want. I will definitely give Romo's another try the next time I pass through Holbrook. I regret not having taken photos to post with this review. read more

What a lovely restaurant. Met with a very nice greeting, immediately took our drink order, menus and freshly made chips and salsa. 100% homemade and delicious. We ordered two combination plates. A 3 taco platter and a chimichanga platter. It is a night and day difference when everything is homemade, and I mean everything. The dinners came out screaming hot and very big portions. It's not about big portions as they usually mean average food! Not at Romo's. Such a great staff and very attentive. We were finishing up when the lady (we are assuming the owner) said she was bringing out a fresh batch of Sopa pias for us. Being honest I don't like them as most places they are flat and uneventful. OMG not these. Fluffy, soooo flaky, hot, puffy and delicious. If we lived in this town, we would dine here weekly and most likely multiple times. People post that it's slow service. We were there on a Friday, March 6th, 2026. The place was not busy during lunchtime, we waited for 20 min. to receive our menus. There was only one waiter, he kept ignoring us. We asked for menus, chips and salsa. He said we get our chips and salsa when we get our drinks. We finally were able to order. When our food arrived, my friend's food came back with a ball of hair on top of his enchilada. It was melted into the cheese. It was so gross! He took it up to the counter and showed the waiter. The waiter brushed it off and put in a remake order. My friend asked for chips and salsa while he waited and the waiter rolled his eyes. We asked to speak to the owner. He said she was busy in the kitchen. She stuck her head out and I noticed that her hair was not tied up or in a hairnet. We could barely eat and asked for a discount on our food. The waiter went to speak to the owner and told us she would not honor our request. The restaurant used to be good, it was a hispanic family with waiters and waitresses that were attentive. Did not expect to be writing a five star review for this place, but here we are. I only ate here once, but that one time was excellent, and worthy of some raves. I got the cheese enchilada meal that comes with rice and beans. Rice and beans can be bland, but these were great: full of flavor, and I would have been happy with just a large serving of those. Cheese enchiladas can also be bland, but the cheese and sauce were excellent, and they were baked to crispy perfection. As an added bonus, they gave me my to-go order in a box rather than a bag, which was perfect since the dish was piping hot. Leftovers the second day were almost as good. As they note in the window, service is slow. They've got just a few people serving a lot of customers. So don't come when you're in a rush, and be prepared to wait. The food is worth it read more

I totally understand having to wait 30 minutes for freshly made food, no problem. After about 35 minutes I heard the counter girl tell the cook she needed an item I ordered, I thought maybe it was for someone else. Then I asked how much longer and she told me she just asked the kitchen for my burrito. Also, for my tacos, I asked for lettuce and cheese on the side, but received neither. Located close to highway 40, I saw this restaurant in Arizona Highway magazine and it was just perfect! We were on the road from Yuma to Colorado and this was a perfect stop for lunch. I called ahead and placed the order over the phone to go. They told me it was going to be 20 mins. We were 20 mins out and it was ready on time. The place was buzzing with customers. I'm from San Diego, a place known for great Mexican food and this was just like what we are use to. Great Mexican food! It's why it has been able stand the text of time. They accommodated a family of 8, which included 3 children and an infant. [Mesa Italiana Restaurant miscommunicated our reservations and place blame on one another. One Hispanic looking guy raised his voice at us for showing up on time for our reservation...a bit too gangster for me in a place that have a fine dining set up. The whole restaurant turned to look at him and we party of 8 like were causing issues; being demanding and intruding on restaurant. If you want breakfast and it's a Wednesday, you may want to choose another location. Apparently that's the one day breakfast isn't served. That's fine, lots of other options available (mostly Mexican). Limited vegetarian selections. I ended up with a grilled cheese sandwich: cheese was barely melted, onion raw and undercooked, and my fries were overcooked. Still not a bad deal. Staff is relatively friendly as well. Then I went to the bathroom, and noticed that the "soap" wasn't lathering. Of course it wasn't lathering because it wasn't soap, but rather, hand sanitizer that was placed in the soap dispenser to be used as "soap". Maybe I should have gone to the bathroom before eating, as I definitely would not have stayed knowing this intel. There will never be a replacement for soap, and if kitchen staff are using this "soap" to wash their hands and cook/serve food, then I'm even more disgusted. Needless to say, I probably will not be back (unless actual soap cares to appear in the bathrooms). read more

It's a rare thing for me to give a bad review, but they really earn it here! First of all, they have a sign on the front door saying masks are required, and yet none of the employees are wearing them. Then we stood around for ten minutes by the cash register waiting for the young lady working it to seat us. She was interesting herself, as she pretty much refused to acknowledge us, or anybody else. It seemed like she had a severe social anxiety disorder, and if that's the case I feel badly for her, but at the same time if this is the case than being a hostess may not be the job for you. We were eventually seated, and placed our orders and then proceeded to wait for almost 45 minutes for our food. They have a note on their menu that states that they make everything fresh, so call ahead if you are in a hurry or doing take out. Good advice to be sure, but I had the Mexican Taco, while my wife had four plain tacos and we ordered a cheese crisp to share. This is not a difficult order, even for made from scratch. When we finally got the food though it was just as boring as your Aunt Tilly at a Sunday church bake off. The tacos were just ground beef with zero seasonings. The beans tasted like they came straight out of a can and overall the food just had no flavor. None. Zero. Zilch. To be fare, the portions were huge, but the food just sat like a lump in our stomachs. We tried this place because we wanted something different, and the reviews were great, but after eating there we left full but unsatisfied. If I had to describe the food in one word I would just say 'filling'. If I were given the chance to eat there again, I would walk straight by it and head for the nearest Taco Bell. read more

Tip: I was told, on Wednesdays they have a taco special going all day so they are not serving breakfasts. That said, I had shredded beef tacos for breakfast on Wednesday and they were delicious.
