Empty pharmacy counter - no one helping us.
    Sabrina H.

This is specific for the pharmacy. I got here ten minutes ago. The first photo is all of the people waiting. The second is the number of employees helping said people (zero). I counted - there are FIVE people back there and not one is helping us.

The toilet paper in the big stall at the Fred Meyer on 39th and Hawthorne is about five feet from the toilet, so you either have to lean over while sitting on the john and almost fall off the toilet (if you try to get the TP), or walk over with a dirty little butt with your pants around your ankles. Spoiler alert - I did both...

this is not my first time shopping at this fred meyer, and it definitely won't be my last! found these delightful "Cheese Bits", which are essentially just teeny tiny mozzarella balls, perfect for popping in your mouth on the go. I got the wasabi flavored ones, but I believe they also had smokey flavored and plain. And what's even better is the fact that they were at a reduced price, it must be my lucky day! they were originally 5.99, which i admit is a little steep, but after tasting them i can say it is well worth it. i'll definitely be back to explore the hawthorne fred meyer cheese section VERY soon. cheers xoxo

I enjoy the convenience of my neighborhood Fred Meyer and largely I am happy with the products and services they offer. That being said, they have an ongoing issue with customers bringing pets into the store. Let me be clear, I am not referring to ADA authorized service animals. I am referring to dogs on a leash, running free and in the shopping cart. There seems to be no real effort made to deter customers from bringing dogs into this location, as well as others I shop at. It is against the law to bring pets into a restaurant, grocery store or establishment preparing food. It is a ODA Health and Safety violation. I have brought this problem to Fred Meyer Management's attention for years, but have yet to see anyone (security, manager on duty or greeter) confront a customer coming into the store with a dog. The policy amongst Fred Meyer staff seems to be, "don't ask, don't tell." If you see a customer in the grocery store with a dog that is obviously a pet and not an ADA approved service dog, please speak up. Some customers are oblivious to the rule/policy and others just don't care. Dogs are great and bring endless joy to our lives. But they can carry disease, sniff/lick food products or defecate/urinate in the store, not to mention bite you if they feel threatened. Leave your dog at home or in the car, please.

    Unique products!

Love this Fred Meyer! I've been coming here for months and only recently realized there was an upstairs...must be blind to have missed the escalators leading upstairs haha. Well upstairs is a whole new world for home/office and I bought the most amazing cordless vacuum I found up there (on sale too!!!). Downstairs is all grocery/toiletries and this Fred Meyer has a great selection of chips! They have tons of the Siete brand here including salt and vinegar which is the best. There are always great deals on avocados and other produce here as well! Things I can't find at Safeway I know FM will have. The bottle return here is so convenient as well.

I've shopped here since 1998 and have seen this location undergo several transformations over the last two decades. The first remodel was basically updating all the equipment and giving a new paint job to the interior and exterior. The more recent remodel included a reorganization, putting electronics, sports, toys etc. upstairs and all grocery downstairs. These days Fred Meyers is one of the most busy grocery stores in the Hawthorne neighborhood. It is a go-to for all items with a fairly good grocery selection. Regulars should register for the rewards system to begin enjoying the benefits. There are several entrances, including two on the first floor and one on the second floor. Second floor parking is a lot easier and can be accessed from Hawthorne st by turning at the Bank of America. If available try the Moonstruck chocolate. It makes a great gift for loved ones.

Always long waits. They are understaffed and very slow

Did not notice any service happening. Limted sizes like small and Meduim on some items. The owmer/manager responded to my review below by stating they are a small store and sell out of sizes since they only get 8 of each. They still have limted sizes. I am not sure if the "why" matters if you go shopping and wear a large and there are none. I was not able to view the size or price tags without having to fish for them and pull it out so I could see. I found it annoying when shopping since buying clothes is the main goal. It is not an art exhibit. Maybe they do not know what it is like to be short and not able to easily view the tags. It is amazing how are unaware people people are of size differences. Yes, you can set your store up however you want. Just not every one will find it user friendly.

I feel like they had everything that I've seen on GenZ TikTok gift recommendation lists - from scrunchies, to clothes, candles, that one olive oil, those colorful cutting boards, throw blankets, etc, etc, etc. There's some smaller trinkets for cheap but much of it had the higher price tag to go along with the trendiness. Looking them up now, they also have an online store so you can browse before you shop! Or get things delivered right to you.

Today they had retro black crochet 2 piece bathing suits that would be flattering on many. As I was driving by, a blue and white robe in the shop caught my eye. Seriously. I could tell it was made out of Turkish cotton and I have been trying to find Turkish Cotton bath towels. I pulled a U-y, parked, and ventured it. There is a bit of everything in the shop, vintage and modern, just as their card states. Beautiful, affordable jewelry by Amaree & Reece (love their designs) and other local jewelry artists. There is a vast selection of sun glasses in fun mod and vintage shapes. They had Mia Clogs, which I used to wear in the 70s! I didn't even know Mia was still in existence. In the back of the shop, there are vintage dresses, hats, purses, shirts and more. The robe that caught my eye was indeed Turkish Cotton. In fact, the shop is known for their collection of Turkish Cotton and has striped towels in every color with white: navy, aqua, pink, fuschia, purple, yellow, mint green, peach, gray, tan, multi-bright, multi-blue and more. I love Turkish Cotton because it's super absorbent, washes well, dries quickly and takes up no space. Since I am in the pool 1-2 times daily (lap swimming and water aerobics) a towel that adds no weight to my gym bad, gets me dry, and dries quickly is a win-win-win! Marcy, the owner, always offers one or two colors at a special price to encourage people to try them. Today the basket had the multi-bright and the multi-blue. Since blue is my favorite color, there was no hesitation! I bought a bath sheet and a matching hand towel that I will use for my hair. Can't wait to tell my swimming buddies because they will all want them! Marcy, the owner, was very friendly and helpful while allowing me to browse uninterrupted and just enjoy trying on hats and sunglasses along the way. I'm definitely adding Shipwreck to the list of shops that I visit just to see what's new. Until the next time, I will enjoy the heck out of my new towels.
