Although the 3 times over more than 10 years I've eaten here, the food has been great twice and once was just good, this is more about the memories and experience for me. Years ago, while vacationing at Carolina Beach, my daughters and myself tried this little hole in the wall place. We had to wait an hour or more, but the food is so worth the wait. I had the Eggplant Parm, and it's like that OMG best thing ever. My daughter had one of the Alfredo dishes and it was just as delicious. But I almost forgot the salad....this salad is what I have dreamed about since probably 2004! For the present day, we recently went, just this time my boyfriend and myself. It's been 10 years or more, but the salad was just as good as I remembered. I got the Steak Barbara and again, it's like the OMG moment when you eat it. We got desserts, and honestly, they were just okay. However, I'd love to give those a try when they have more house made choices. I'll be down again very soon. read more

This restaurant came highly recommended by friends. We gave it a try on our first visit to Kure Beach. We were not disappointed. Between our party, we had the Italian Gumbo, Seafood Alfredo, and the Lasagna. Everything was fabulous. The family style salad deserved with the meal was also good as was the bread. Come on... it's Freddie's. It is a classic must visit place. Feels like a warm blanket. Small and cozy. The team there treat you like family. We always start with Barbs crab dip. It is creamy and amazing with just a touch of horse radish. From there I have ordered the lasagna, chicken sechi, and the ravioli. All very good. Non-White reservations ARE subject to change white-out Notice! Made an 8:30 reservation, get there and they had given our table away. I'm sure this doesn't happen to everyone. I guess the confirmation Phone call this afternoon was more to see if we would relieve ourselves of the reservation or if they would have to simple give it to someone else despite the fact that we had confirmed it. Racist People Suck! They even denied us food "TO-GO" the night before this incident. Now I realize it had nothing to do with business volume, but more to do with ethnicity. Disgusted. read more

Such a great little place for dinner if you can get in! Touristy boardwalk restaurants usually scare me but Freddies is the exception. Sandwiches between a crummy diner and coin op arcade Freddies is a must go place for dinner while in Kure beach. The signature Freddies Filthy Martini alone is enough to make the 39 min drive from Wilmington down here. I had the seafood Alfredo for dinner and it was awesome. Fresh shrimp and crab meat in a light but super tasty Alfredo sauce over pasta, did not disappoint. This place can be hard to get into though especially in the summer months so have a back up plan Incase the wait is 2 hours. read more

We were referred to Freddie's by our waitress at a different establishment when asked for a good Italian place on the island. We're sure happy she did! Reservations are definitely recommended, so I called ahead and was able to reserve our table. I ordered the calamari for an appetizer. It was great - and enough to make it a full meal on its own. My wife had the Shrimp Baraccino and says it was fantastic. I had my favorite go-to meal when out for Italian; Veal Marsala. The veal was perfectly cooked; two generous cutlets. This was served over my choice of pasta and a proper amount of Marsala sauce, which was also delicious. Add in the bread with the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and spices and the house salad with their house Italian dressing, and it was an awesome meal. The entire staff was friendly, professional, and very polite. Freddie's has been added to our list of must-have restaurants when visiting CB/Kure. read more

First time...won't be my last. Listen, I r as a few reviews that weren't great mixed into the overwhelming number of 4 and 5 star reviews. I have no idea how anyone could say this is anything less than 4 stars...and I'm an EASY 5. Small restaurant just a few hundred yards from Kure Beach...quaint with a nice decor (old school Italian) with nice Italian music playing not too loudly in the background. Service was exemplary...water glasses were never held empty and the waiter knew the menu well. Started out with fresh bread and an oil/herb mix...don't fill up on it though because the meals are big and delicious. They give you a large family style salad with tomatoes, beers, garbanzo beans, purple cabbage and fresh greens...topped with their own house dressing that they sell by the pint (take some home). I ordered the Chicken Sechi, it was incredible...a little heat but delicious. Chicken sautéed in olive oil with sun dried tomatoes and mushrooms over a penne pasta...incredible. My wife got the Peach & Pecan Pork Chop...I was jealous, but she shared so I was fortunate to try that awesome dish. The caramelized sauce, peaches and pecans created a sweet flavor that wasn't over the top. This must be their signature dish, I saw a lot of people ordering it. I'll get it next time for sure. One pork chop is more than enough...order two if you feel like sharing or bringing some home. They move things along nicely without feeling rushed. Gotta say, service is a big part of the dining experience or we might as well eat at home...the service here is top notch! I highly recommend this restaurant. Get the pork chop. Whatever variety...I got Barb's style which was AMAZING. Barb's salad dressing is also amazing...get a salad with the house dressing. Ate here while on vacation with my family. Online says they open at 5, but their sign says 430 so I'm not sure which it is? We got there right at 5 and it was super busy. The restaurant is very small so they can't seat a ton of people. I believe they take reservations but not 100% sure. If they do, I'd recommend making one if you have over 4 people. The salad was nice, different but good. It had beats and chick peas. The bread comes with olive oil and vinegar. We tried the fried mozzarella sticks and they were delicious but be careful not to burn your mouth! They must've come right out of the grease because we all burned a lip or inside our mouth. I ordered the cheese ravioli with marina and it was soo good! My Aunt had chicken parmigiana and cousin got spaghetti- both yummy! On the other hand, my mom ordered chicken fettuccini Alfredo, and there was nothing Alfredo about it. She couldn't eat it. we all tasted it and it mostly tasted like garlic butter with really thick noodles. She ate the chicken out of it and had some of my ravioli. But I would not recommend that dish if you're wanting anything Alfredo related. Our service was a little slow. They had a girl that just refills drinks which is really nice because it stinks to be waiting on that while you're eating. We didn't see our server much. This is a small, Hole-in-the-Wall Italian Restaurant. I first went here because all of the Locals recommended it. And they are right on! Freddie's is known for its Pork Chops, for which they have at least 6 different kinds. I also enjoyed their extensive Martini list ;) As an appetizer I ordered their Portobello Mushroom, Stuffed with Cooked Crab meat, and topped with Melted Cheese. Mmmm! Also, I heard good things about their Calamari even though I did not have a chance to try it. Freddie's is located right off of Kure Beach, so you can take a stroll down to the Beach or Pier once you are done to burn off some of that delicious food. This Restaurant comes Highly Recommended. This is the second time we had visited this restaurant. After tonight's experience, we will make it a point to always eat here when we are near Wilmington Beach or Carolina Beach, North Carolina. It is an Italian restaurant, but everything on their menu is just perfect for for any taste. We had a fillet mignon, stuffed pork chop, and lasagna. All three dishes were delightful. Just a couple of additional notes. First, the prices are somewhat high. Second, the restaurant is small. Third, it's a good idea to make a reservation before going to the restaurant.
