We made reservations for a Sunday night while we visited family in NC. We originally tried for Friday or Saturday but they were booked and couldn't accommodate a large party (10 people). The space is pretty small but it felt cozy and the ambiance was nice. Our party ordered several different dishes, my sister ordered the pork chop and when it came to the table it had a strange odor.. she took a bite and it was definitely spoiled meat. We sent it back and the cook agreed the smell was off.. not sure how they missed that when they were preparing it but they ended up giving a different dish and didn't charge for the pork chop. I ordered the cheese ravioli in vodka sauce and the sauce was SO SALTY to the point of being almost inedible, didn't even taste like vodka sauce. I was very disappointed because we were told this was the best Italian spot in the whole area so I had high expectations. Maybe it was an off night but I definitely wouldn't go back or recommend based on those two dishes. Service was good though, our waitress was very sweet, so that was the extra star from what I wanted to give. I just can't get past the spoiled meat. read more

This place is a gem! We never miss Freddie's every time we go to the beach...but we hadn't been to the beach since the pandemic and we were concerned the place may have changed. Nope Still the same great classic (and generous) red sauce Italian dishes, excellent grilled dishes (with amazing toppings). Most important of all it's a small comfortable well run place. Something has happened to Freddie's pork chops and it is not good. We went several months ago and the pork chops were fantastic. We went back to celebrate our 50th anniversary and ordered the pork chops again but this time they were overcooked, dry, and tasteless. We heard from several other people that they experienced the same thing. You might want to ask ahead of time about this problem before wasting your money on overcooked, dry, tasteless pork chops. read more

Absolutely recommend, the vibes were immaculate! My family and I ate at Freddie's for the first time last night, and we had such a wonderful experience. All courses were fantastic! We ordered bruschetta, stuffed mushroom caps, mushroom ravioli, chicken parmesan, and a few build your own pastas. The entrees also came with fresh bread & house salads. This itty bitty restaurant is SO good! Reservations are a must as there is a line out the door at 4:30pm every day when this place opens. Their salad and salad dressing specifically is really fresh and delicious. We come here every year on our vacation and are never disappointed. This year I got their daily special of tortellini with chicken, sun dried tomatoes, and artichokes. Delicious, and plenty of leftovers for the next day's lunch. Situated right off the Kure Beach fishing pier, Freddie's is welcoming. As soon as I stepped in front I could smell the irresistible aromas inviting me inside. Ordered the chicken parmigiana with penne alla vodka and a Peroni beer. We started with the table shared house salad which was light, crisp and refreshing. The entrees are generous portions and could easily serve two. If you share an entree there is a $5 upcharge. The service was flawless and very much on point. This restaurant has great Italian food. It was a last minute find and we showed up to be told they were full on reservations. So we put in a to go order to bring back to our camper and eat. And it did not disappoint. We had chicken Parmesan and chicken Alfredo. The portions are huge. We could have shared one together but did not know. We will visit again. read more

Its sort of my thing, treating the in-laws to a nice evening at Freddie's. They always look forward to it and I dream about it leading up to our trip. This visit did not disappoint. In fact, it may have been our best visit yet, thanks to our server Natalie. She is phenomenal! She was attentive and super friendly and personable. We all agreed she's a rockstar! The food wasn't bad either lol. I had the Rum Chops, in-laws both got the Gumbo and my wife went with Seafood Ravioli. Every dish was downright delicious. Treat yourself next time you're in the area. Went here on the recommendation of a friend and did not disappoint. We did take out since they were not yet fully back open. The dishes are creative, especially the Freddie's special spaghetti which has a rich red sauce and comes with a meatball (BIG) and a piece of italian sausage, flavorful. Loved the veggies and the sauce and the giant chunks of meat. Perfect if you love both meatballs and sausage and can't decide. Wife had the mushroom ravioli which was delicious and still had enough for leftovers the next day. All the dishes were great. Plan to eat here for sure. read more

Although the 3 times over more than 10 years I've eaten here, the food has been great twice and once was just good, this is more about the memories and experience for me. Years ago, while vacationing at Carolina Beach, my daughters and myself tried this little hole in the wall place. We had to wait an hour or more, but the food is so worth the wait. I had the Eggplant Parm, and it's like that OMG best thing ever. My daughter had one of the Alfredo dishes and it was just as delicious. But I almost forgot the salad....this salad is what I have dreamed about since probably 2004! For the present day, we recently went, just this time my boyfriend and myself. It's been 10 years or more, but the salad was just as good as I remembered. I got the Steak Barbara and again, it's like the OMG moment when you eat it. We got desserts, and honestly, they were just okay. However, I'd love to give those a try when they have more house made choices. I'll be down again very soon. read more

Come on... it's Freddie's. It is a classic must visit place. Feels like a warm blanket. Small and cozy. The team there treat you like family. We always start with Barbs crab dip. This restaurant came highly recommended by friends. We gave it a try on our first visit to Kure Beach. We were not disappointed.
