All the employees were pleasant and helpful. My family and I didn't like the flavor of the pizza. The cheese pizza was the most palatable. It could just be that we are new to NC and where we're from we were used to something different. We ordered some assorted slices as well and 2 of 4 were burnt on the bottom. Edit: I know it's a far stretch here, but have you considered that fact that Yelp asks days later if you'd still like to leave a review so I thought why not..now I have the owner scratching his head and finding it suspicious that someone could possibly have not been thrilled by his pizza. Five stars all the way. Just picked up a large loaded specialty pizza which gives you a choice of five toppings. I added sliced meatballs, pepperoni, spinach, mushrooms, and black olives. This a legit NY style pizza. The sauce was so flavorful. I called in the pizza and there was an hour lead time, which was not a problem, The pizza was piping hot and delicious. I stopped at Fentoni's for dinner. I was told my order would be 15 minutes. The staff was friendly and we were discussing sports games. When someone who placed an order after me returned to pick up his order, I knew there was an issue as mine should have been ready before that order. It seems that the attention to the sport's scores caused a lack of attention to my pizza and it burnt. I am still puzzled by why they didn't start a new pizza right away so I was there a very long time. They must have been planning to give me the burnt pizza. The pizza I eventually got was good and I'd rate that 5 stars. But the service was bad and gets 1 star. I won't return again as it was too slow and the staff was inattentive to their jobs. I do understand mishaps can happen but how those are handled is what determine good service from bad. read more

I am a native New Yorker. Hadn't found any good pizza in Carolina Beach and was hoping Fentoni's would be the answer to finding good New York pizza. We got a pizza takeout. I ordered and asked the pizza to be ready a certain time. I asked if that would be a problem and they said no. I thought that meant they wouldn't cook it so it would be ready that time. My husband got there 10 minutes early and it was ready. It was one of the worst pizzas we have ever eaten. I had to dab the grease off the top with a paper towel. We ordered delivery from Fentoni's while on vacation in Carolina Beach. We had high expectations based on the pictures and while we weren't completely disappointed, we weren't blown away. Delivery time was reasonable and we received our order in a timely manner. We ordered the mozzarella sticks and a large pepperoni pizza. The mozzarella sticks were very generic and seemed to be the same that we get in bulk from Costco. Granted this is no fault on the restaurant and more so that mozzarella sticks just do not travel well, but they were rock hard and were inedible once we got them. The pizza is standard to NY style pizzerias and satisfied the craving for pizza. It was greasier than expected and I would give the reheat value of the leftovers a 5 out of 10. read more

That being said, walking into Fentonis yesterday brought us back to the neighborhood pizza places we remember. Busy, smelling delicious, and plenty of people working behind the counter. Try this new Pizzeria that replaced Frank's Pizza on its grand opening day. With the coronavirus crisis, they only did delivery/pick up orders with special hours, and offered only large size pizzas, not small size. Fentoni's is located on the boardwalk next to Britt's Donuts, so it may be hard to find parking. Ordered garlic knots ($3), fried ravioli ($7.99), pizza pop ($8.50), and a cheese pizza ($15.50). The garlic knots were covered in butter and fresh garlic. It tasted okay, the butter and garlic made it taste better. If you buy more garlic knots, there is a discount. The fried ravioli are not made from scratch. They were deep-fried well, had good flavor, and are filled with a ricotta cheese mixture. Both the garlic knots and fried ravioli were served with marinara sauce, which had small chunks of tomato and diced onions. The pizza pop is like a pizza slice with the sides of the pizza trying to fold into itself. There was a generous amount of mozzarella cheese and you get to choose one topping. The dough didn't have much flavor but it tasted good with the marinara sauce served separately. The pizza is thin crust style. The crust wasn't that crispy, but maybe because it took about 10 minutes for me to finally eat it when I got home. Didn't like the dough-it was bland and lacked flavor, so the outer crust will be a good snack for your pets to eat. On the other hand, the tomato sauce was very flavorful. It tasted like there was a touch of red wine. The amount of tomato sauce and cheese on the pizza was just right and was distributed evenly. Wanted a cannoli but they did not have these available since they did not get the shipment. One of the owners, Jeremy, was friendly and welcoming. They've been in their little nook for a few years, but continue to be consistently good. The right ingredients, properly made, and molten and never-undercooked slices.
