Fried chicken with fried plantains and
    Caitlin M.

Our first time in Puerto Rico and we are staying at an AirBnB condo in Isla Verde. Our security guard recommended this place and said the locals love it. Within walking distance to our condo. The ambiance was clean and we sat outside. The service was great and attentive. The place was empty at 6pm on a Wednesday night. We ordered fried chicken with fried plantains and fried pork with sweet plantains. I will say, the fried chicken was the best choice. The chicken was so crunchy yet juicy and moist inside. The fried plantains were also crispy yet fluffy. So good! The sweet plantains are always a hit and these wet so juicy and carmelized. As far as the fried pork goes, it wasn't my favorite. It came with onions but they were raw and in the picture, they were clearly grilled and had that light brown color so I was a bit disappointed with the strong flavor of raw onion. The pork was very crispy and flavorful but unfortunately, incredibly dry. We are from a state with a large Puerto Rican community so I have had this dish before and the pork is always dry. I wonder if it's just too difficult to get it more moist? But I would definitely come back for the chicken!

My boyfriend & I went to Puerto Rico for our birthdays last week. This restaurant was along a strip of a bunch of other restaurants. The waitress was outside passing out menus, that's how we ended up coming back up the block to eat here. We tried food at alot of places while on vacation, but this was the only place Mr. Picky didn't pick apart the food. I had the chicken Mofongo with a pina colada and he had the steak sandwich with fries and bbq wings. I actually didn't finish all my food because I was full. The service was great. The wait staff spoke English too.

I found this place on Yelp and it looked very pretty; it was perfect for a tranquil start to the day. We called them to inquire about parking and whether this place was open to the public or if it was just for hotel patrons. We parked in the hotel lot and it is open to the public. They did have a person at the counter who could take our order with a menu above their head, but they also had kiosks. I chose the kiosk because it's less pressure; I was allowed to browse the full menu at my pace without feeling the pressure of someone behind me trying to place their order. I was torn between the iced matcha and the iced chai. I went with the iced chai with whipped cream (+$0.50). They ask for your phone number and text you when your order is ready. While we waited, we used the bathroom, which was on their patio area around the corner from the building. On our walk there, we noticed all the plants and greenery they have, both on the wall and around the perimeters of the tables. The bathroom was spacious and clean, but no stalls, just one. I liked that they had seating indoor and outdoor (both regular and high tables) but it was such a good day to not sit outside. The outdoor seating is completely shaded. We sat down at one of the corner areas. After about 10 minutes, our orders were ready. The ice chai was delicious! It had a subtle mocha flavor, with subtle taste of spices, and was very creamy. Halfway through, I needed more ice so I got some from their vending machine. When we went to validate our parking ticket, it came out to about $1.50 which wasn't bad for the hour + we were there.

Review #1,052 Posted on 5.1.26…read more We came here for coffee on Saturday morning April 25th. This spot is located at the bottom of the Residence Inn in Isle Verde. This place is super nice, it reminded my wife & I of Porto's a bit. They've got both indoor & outdoor seating. We ordered their classic coffee with coconut, called the Coqui. Now the place is awesome atmosphere, good drinks, good food, but it took way too long to get our order, amateur hour as far as that goes. It took them 45 minutes to get our coffee & food out, and we're not talking a four course meal chef Ramsey prepared, it was literally 1 breakfast sandwich. We weren't alone either, countless people waiting for a very long time with us, I don't get how it could get you that point to be honest. They had at least 10 workers back there, I could see 10 minutes, even 15, 20 is pushing it, but 45? Coffee & sandwich were good, but nothing special and for sure not worth the irritation that sets in when you're left waiting to that degree. I thought of giving this place higher marks because it's a very nice establishment, clean, lots of places to sit, and nice atmosphere, but they earned this 2 spot they're getting for the experience I had.

The temperature was absolutely perfect with just a slight breeze--it really set the stage for an elevated dining experience. The drinks were excellent and expertly crafted. We started with appetizers that were both unique and packed with flavor; you can really taste the creative touch José Enrique brings to the menu. The service was top-notch--attentive without being overbearing. It is definitely on the pricier side, but for the quality of food and the atmosphere, it was very worth it. We've already marked it down as a "must-visit" for our next trip to Puerto Rico!

Our waiter gave great recommendations, and we thoroughly enjoyed both our meals and drinks. One thing I've noticed while visiting PR is that service tends to be a bit slower across the board, so I was expecting that here as well. I was slightly hopeful it might be quicker since we came later in the evening as the crowd was clearing out, but there was still a bit of a wait for our food. We dined on the outdoor patio, which was a great atmosphere and added to the overall experience. I'd definitely recommend this spot if you're in the area and looking for an upscale take on traditional Puerto Rican cuisine.

Our 5 year old son was with us and super whiny because he was tired from traveling all day. While it was dinner time she let us order "the baby" pancakes which was so sweet. He fell asleep before the food got there. It took maybe 10-15 minutes for the food to come. My mojito was lovely as was everything we had. Couldn't eat it all so we took the leftovers back to the hotel. Definitely a casual locals place. Also incredibly accommodating and kind to us just stopping in for a meal. Also good price - it was right about $50. Would have been much more in the states. If you're at a hotel in the area, take the walk over. And after dinner, walk down a few blocks to the beach to walk off some of the food. I recommend.

The restaurant is spacious with colorful and expressive art all over the walls. You're hearing Latin music in the background there's a large bar in the left corner. The menu is big, there's so much that you would want to try so go with the big party. Your offered three different styles of plant proteins when you order your traditional dish. We had the Pasteles, Mofongo, ALcapurria and Sorullitos. Everything came out hot and fresh. The Mofongo was out of this world. And I make Mofongo. The Alcapurria was delicious of Smith's first time having it. The portions are large enough to share. Or have leftovers. You are so lucky to meet the owner. The super friendly gentleman he gave us the backstory of why he started this restaurant. Changing his diet helped him recover from cancer. And it was about the way he ate. So he wanted to share this opportunity with meat eaters. So the whole goal of his restaurant is vegan food for meat eater so they can see that they are not missing anything. The owner also is a famous DJ. He has a talk show radio. And he's been doing it since the 70s. It was a lovely experience my Bestie found this restaurant for me. Because I'm a vegan/sometimes pescatarian. I don't get to try all the foods. It was such a lovely experience.
