Popped in for lunch today, as it's right down the street from work! The one thing I love about how they do their burgers is that it's smashed patty style. You get the thin crispy edges but the meat is still juicy! I always ask for extra mustard on my burger and the one thing I love about Freddy's more than any other burger place is that they actually put extra mustard, so I get that tanginess in every bite!! I love their crispy fries with the seasoned salt they put on there, always seasoned just right! The meal came out pretty quickly, with the bun toasted just right, perfect toppings, nice and crisp onions and pickles! My kinda burger! The staff was super sweet and nice! Victor came to check on me and ask how everything was, and k of course said it was terrible, while pointing at an almost empty plate! He at first looked sad but my smile quickly told him I was joking! One of the young ladies came and checked on me as well when I was done and cleared the table for me! I've been curious about Freddy's for a while both because I drive past this location on 45 pretty frequently and also because they have (and maybe still do) sponsored University of Houston athletics. The staff there on a Saturday evening were very courteous to me and even though they got they left something off the order initially they quickly rectified it. The steak burger was good. It definitely has more meat than a standard fast food burger and tastes nice for what you're getting. The fries were good too. I liked the seasoning but strong fries aren't really my cup of tea, I still finished them though. The milkshake was really nice. They have bigger sized straws that make it an easy sipping experience. First time at this location, The staff was friendlier than most fast food restaurants. The restaurant is a throwback to a 1950's style burger joint. Their food from various locations including this one has been consistently good. Way better than the big corporate chains. My wife ordered a single burger with shoestring fries and I ordered a double cheeseburger with tater tots, My wife enjoyed her burger and fries and my tots, slightly more than her fries. I also enjoyed the cheeseburger and tots. We followed it up with a mini concrete, Chocolate frozen custard waxed with a brownie, topped with whipped cream and a cherry. The food overall is always delicious. But the service that was given at the drive thru was underwhelming this evening. I stopped by minutes ago and I misunderstood her question when ordering and was given an immediate combative response. Instead of proceeding with taking the order the employee got upset and reiterated how I misunderstood. I drove up to the window, she took her time to open the window, when she opened the window, doesn't greet me. She then proceeds to tells me the total with a blank stare and takes her hand out for payment. Gives me the food and receipt with no communication and a stare as if I've disrupted her. I used to be a regular, but in the last few months something is seriously wrong with this place. Half a dozen times since September I've been told at various times (usually at around 8 or 9) they "aren't taking orders at the moment", and today I was told that they stop serving custard, the thing they are literally most famous for, after 8pm: two whole hours before they close. Imagine Whataburger deciding to stop serving burgers after the sun sets! Curiously, it seems to always be the same voice on the speaker when these issues occur. I strongly suspect one of their managers has decided to check out of her job and start shutting down the restaurant at her convenience - I've seen it happen before when I worked in food service. Until this place is operating according to its printed schedule, and serving their actual menu, I'd recommend going a few minutes down the street to dairy queen. Service! Went through the drive through today 08/14/25 at 6pm and pulled up behind one other car that appeared to be there for a little bit already. I patiently wait behind this one the car for 10 minutes before getting my chance at the drive through. I waited for about 2 minutes before getting acknowledged by the drive through attendant then I was asked to wait a bit longer, 5 minutes to be exact. Finally I get to give my order without incident and I pull up behind the same customer in line that was ahead of me roughly 7 minutes before. I sat behind this car at the drive through window for another 5 minutes before the previous customer received her order. I pulled up to the window with no acknowledgment from the staff for roughly 5 minutes. During this time frame, I could see through the window 4 staffers moving around without urgency to their customers had been waiting for an excessive amount of time. When the attendant finally came to the window she uttered the words "hello sorry for the wait"'as if she expected me to believe that she was sincere, "that will be $31.43", she continued. So I asked her what's taking so long and she just stood there dumbfounded and unresponsive so I repeated myself as if I expected an improvement in her interest to provide better customer service. Again unresponsive she just stood there with a blank stare. My response was just, "you know what, just keep the food " and I drove off. I guess it was my fault for expecting someone in the service industry to actually provide good service. I'm writing this review in the hopes that there is a business owner out there that is really concerned about how their business is being run and is being affected by careless employees that require some retraining or understanding about what their responsibilities are to their employer and its customers. Also I hope for their future customers that they have better experiences than I had. Probably going to try and cook for myself next time. This is sadly the last time I will come to this location. The tater tots were so greasy that they were FALLING APART. The chicken strips were better and at least edible. The customer service at this location always lacks. No friendly faces, no smiles making the customer think they just hate their job. Overall a lot is lacking at this location and this is AFTER I have given this location many chances just to see if I was going on an "off" day. I was irritated though, when the manager came up to ask about my meal, I explained how I ordered one thing and got another also my grandson's grilled cheese was not even cut in half and I was not happy about it.
