This pizza absolutely lives up to the hype. Honest to God i think his pizzas are better than almost every pizza I've had in NYC. Not only that but Fredi is an incredible person. He often donates to the local autism community and as an autism parent himself, he is very compassionate and understanding. I came here today with my autistic son after a long doctor's appointment. For some reason my son had quite the meltdown when i told him it was time to leave and Fredi saw what was happening. He tried to talk my son through the tantrum and also had his cashier help me out to the car with my pizza. Once we got in the car, Fredi himself came out to check on us and make sure everything was ok. He is incredibly kind and he makes wonderful food. Pizza -We've all had it and we all love it. Pizza made by Fredi is a true work of art! Every pizza is made with love and precision. I've had pizza from high end restaurants, little holes in the wall, pizza from New York, and Pizza from Chicago, and I can say that the pizza from Fredi's is some of the best I have ever had! If you are not interested in making the drive down river to give Fredi's a try, you are doing yourself a serious disservice. This is a family run business and they have a tendency to sell out often. I would recommend arriving early for lunch service so the wait isn't too long and so you are guaranteed your slice of heaven. The interior is very small and you take a ticket when you enter -similar to ordering from a deli. It makes the experience more fun and unique in my opinion. I live fairly close to several well known and loved pizza locations and while they are delicious, nothing comes close to Fredi's. I gladly make the drive to Fredi's every time I'm craving pizza rather than taking the easy way out and ordering from a location that is convenient for me to drive to. They have the ordering and making pizzas down. Probably 15 minutes wait after we ordered. And it took less than 5 minutes to order. Honestly, I'm so blown away by this place. It took me forever to start this review. I've been seeing reviews online. I've watched the YouTube quick videos. Sometimes you see stuff and then when you go in person, it's not the same when I went to the place every single thing that you see on YouTube or that the owner says is absolutely true After having this pizza I think I'm just not gonna eat pizza unless I'm able to eat this pizza unbelievable. I put it in the toaster oven in the next day and it was just as good lol while I was waiting for my pizzas to finish, I noticed the goulash sign. OMG I warmed it up the next day with a couple pieces of that baguette bread they give you I feel like my mom made it at home so fresh so simple ingredients usually I eat a pizza and it messes my stomach up. I literally smashed half the pizza in the parking lot if you're a pizza lover don't cheat yourself. I'm positive I've left a review for Fredi on here before when I first moved up to Michigan, but it was for an Italian sandwich that was served at the time. It was really great, but I had no idea about just how good the pizza was because I didn't try it. Well, that changed today. As much as Portnoy grinds my gears as a human, I was intrigued and happy to hear that he put over a local small business with his 8.7 review. So, the first chance I had, I had to stop in and give it a try so many years later. He was right. It hurts to agree with him, but damn, this is THE BEST New York style pizza I have EVER eaten. Now, I've never actually been to NY, but if their most basic of pies come even remotely close to this, they truly are a pizza paradise. But, back to Fredi. This pizza is amazing. I truly mean that. If you look at my past reviews, you'll see I shoot straight and try to be honest about the good and bad stuff. There is literally nothing bad about my experience. I got two medium pies (WHY DIDN'T I GET THE LARGE!?!?) and tried an order of the goulash, as well. The goulash was pretty good, but compared to the pizza, it wasn't impressive. Not bad, mind you, actually pretty good, but in comparison to the God tier pies, it just doesn't stand out. That's not a knock on it. It's just like comparing Tom Hanks to Brad Pitt, if you get what I'm saying. Delicious and Amazing!! Visiting from out of town and we were so excited to try Fredi's pizza, his warm and authentic personality and the pizza did not disappoint! Fredi welcomed us and was super friendly to us visiting and to all the locals on a first name basis. Pizza was DELICIOUS with perfect sauce and cheese ratio and a lovely crust with a nice crust and under carriage. Prices were extremely reasonable for slices and full pies. We got an extra for the road! When you arrive pull a number at the front. Small space with some indoor seating and outdoor patio. Remember this is a small operation and Fredi makes all the pizzas. Of course we came here because of Dave Portnoy. It is your typical dive with about 5 tables inside and room to seat about 8. The pizza is great and id order it all the time if I lived close but not the type of place I feel like I have to go back to. The menu seemed somewhat limited the day we went in and they were out of slices so I'm guessing you better get there early for slices. Fredi was behind the counter and chatting it up with people waiting for their pies. Drink selection is cans of soda and bottled water. read more

I finally made it here! After seeing the Dave Portnoy review, I've been looking forward to visiting but heard they were super busy so I waited. I ordered a large cheese pie, gave them my name, and took a seat at a table. Fredi greeted me and called me by name several times while he was making my pizza. When it was ready, he said it's a beautiful pizza...he was right! Love the generous amount of fresh basil. His sauce is terrific, clearly it's freshly made. The pizza was done perfectly and was nice and crispy...although I will take his advice and ask for it burned next time as I like a bit of char...my I know not everyone likes that. I thought the price was very reasonable for the quality. Not only does Fredi make great pizza but he does a lot of charity work for kids with autism. This pizza was scrumptious, crispy, and topped well (the way a pizza should be). Even if you do not agree with my staple pizza toppings (chicken and mushrooms), this pizza had a good balance of toppings. It was not too much or too little; it was just right. I was not expecting, but enjoyed, the crispy crunch the pizza dough had. When I ordered the pizza, I did it as a dine-in order. The service was absolutely fantastic. Both the cashier and the pizza man were incredibly respectful, and I really appreciated their hospitality. Speed of service was efficient (approximately 15-18 minutes). Wowza! Amazing pizza. Crispy and made to order! Ordered 2 large- cheese only and a pepperoni. Both were amazing. Pizzas came out in about 10-15 mins. The crunch of the pizza definitely made all the difference compared to other pizza places. Gives a real mom and pop feel. The cheese only totally hit different. I usually always get pepperoni but our cheese only was on a different level for sure. The pepperoni pizza was good too. Everything my was great. The atmosphere is what you might expect in a carry out place. They have a couple of televisions to help eat up some time while you wait. But you aren't waiting long. I waited 10 minutes. Ry reports he is a hard working man and I have no doubt about that since word has spread! The pizza was still warm by the time we made it home, about 25 mins. Here is the low down: crust- the crisp. The crunch. The softness, the taste. Wow. The sauce I wish I could take home Costco size containers of. The cheese is perfectly melted and is a layer of its own recognition. Fredi the Pizza man stands as a testament to what pizza should be. I will admit I was turned onto Fredi's by watching One-Bite Pizza reviews. This place definitely deserves top rating in metro detroit and it's very apparent that Fredi takes pride in his barstool review. I've been here several times in the past few months and I usually order strictly cheese which comes with leaves of fresh basil on top. I enjoy the decor and there's much to look at while waiting for your pie. Fredi doesn't take online or phone orders, forcing customers to come inside, take a break from the noise and chill for a moment. Fredi's crust is simply top shelf. DiFarras and Johns of Bleeker Street in NYC, Some famous NewHaven places included. Fredis is ON PAR WITH ANY OF THEM. Crisp on the crust with the perfect slurry of softer crust above that blending with an amazing sauce/cheese combination that screams old school. Service is STELLAR. Didn't expect too much going to a new york style pizza spot in Michigan, but I was pleasantly surprised. Coming from the New York area, I've always had access to great New York style pizza and feel like it has a special edge over other types. Coming to this lowkey pizza spot, I was shocked. The place was packed even on odd days, and the quality of the pizza was great. I would've thought I was in the heart of New York when I took the first bite. The crust had a solid crisp to it and the sauce was so fresh. Loved how every part of this pizza came together.
