I shopped here on my own before hiking. I found a few Alaska souvenirs. Kinda spendy here, so waited to buy at Walmart. Found cheap bagged salads here. Also 2 day of the dead skull tins with smarties inside for $1 each. Saw more unique items such as Alaskan popcorn company. There are no plastic bags in this part of Alaska. Yes! Please get rid of these in MN please! They charge for a paper bag, but girl helping said the small paper ones are free. read more

I was in Fred's today to grab a few items and it took me 20 minutes of standing in line to checkout. For a moment I thought I was in Walmart instead of Fred Meyers. They had 1 checkout line open and on bank of self-checkouts (6 self checkout machines), almost exactly what Walmart does. Hell, I think Walmart has more lanes open. Now don't kid yourself, Freds has their priorities. There are more kids running around making orders for the e-commerce section than there are people up front to help customers. The place is a shit-show lately. May be time to consider alternative for shopping if this place can get their act together. Service sucks, management sucks. Place is dirty, bathrooms gross. This is where I do a majority of our grocery shopping. This is a great location. It's huge, and covers a variety of needs outside of food. It reminds me of the Meier stores back home in IL or a super Kmart (but nicer). It is a very clean and well kept store. The layout is easy to navigate, They usually have pretty good sales on clothing and goods for your home. I get carters clothes for my son at 50-60% off typically. Their produce and meat/seafood always looks fresh and is reasonable priced. Their hot bar, deli sandwiches and sushi station always have some good options if you need something pre made and on the go. Customer service is excellent and the staff is super friendly and very helpful. I love Mariano's in Chicago, and believe this may be owned by the same company as they use the same simple truth genetic brands. Grocery shopping here is always a pleasant experience! read more

I appreciate the local employees and this is a very lovely store. I am seriously cutting back on my shopping at Fred Meyer. Their pharmacy is no longer taking several insurances, and they seem bent on squeezing consumers for their last dollar. They have a shopping club now for which you can spend a certain amount of money so you can get more deals. You are supposed to scan coupons on your phone now so you can get deals, as well. This may be the way of the industry, but I don't like it. What if they do their job as a grocery store and just work with their customers on getting fair prices? Sadly, I'm starting to shop online and buy local from farmers. Maybe this is what Fred Meyer wants, anyway? read more

I will never shop at Fred Meyer's again. If you look at the camera around the women's dressing room that would be my first reason! the camera is looking straight into a mirror. The Deli hasn't a current permit. Expired Dec 2022 look for your selfs or ask! As a result of Carr's being closed for a week due to the earthquake, I had to shop at Fred Myers. My experience was actually pretty solid. I was super impressed with the selection of organic and gluten free options. I always look at Carr's for low sodium chicken broths in the little 8 oz containers, but they never have them. Fred Myers did! They also had more chicken sausage options. I just found myself thinking, "I might have to change to Fred Myers all the time." read more

I do the majority of my grocery shopping at Fred Meyer in Eagle. At first it was due to being closer to my home, but now it's for other reasons too! The customer service is almost always outstanding!! I generally start out at Starbucks, making my way through produce, meat and then groceries, followed by seasonal and housewares if need be. I always have dealings with the meat/seafood counter and am pleased with the polite gentleman that greets me. Most recently, today to be exact, I used the personal shopper. It started last Sunday technically, when I was there doing my weekly shopping. I noticed a gal with this giant cart and on the end of it, it stated Personal Shopper. I then noticed a few people throughout the store with these same carts. They were fulfilling orders for other people and I was intrigued. I looked into it and the first three orders are free and then a mere $5/order after that. Sooooo, I got on my handy dandy app and ordered my groceries yesterday. Picked a date and time to pick them up, which I chose Saturday between 9-10am. I received a reminder text the morning of and arrived at 9:30. When I called per the instructions, Carlee answers the phone and was super polite. Turns out she was the same young lady I saw last weekend. I had noticed a free turkey with purchase and asked her about it and she said absolutely, letting me know if would just be a couple minutes for her to run into the store to get it for me. She wheeled the cart of bins out to my truck and explained a couple substitutes we received and let me know one item was out of stock. Carlee was fantastic and I hope she's always my personal shopper, she did a great job!! I know without a doubt, this saved me money and obviously saved me an hour of time too!!! I plan on doing this weekly now, picking my groceries up on the way home from work or while I'm out and about! Word to the wise if you want to buy booze in their liquor store (or anywhere in the Anchorage area, apparently). According to the extremely earnest clerk checking us (spouse and me) out, we both needed to be carded due to some arcane law. News to us...at any rate, I'd left my wallet at home (about a mile away) since spouse was driving and we just came for a few groceries...we had *one bottle* of chardonnay (for marinating salmon) sitting on the counter. We're both 52. Spouse had ID, I didn't, clerk refused the sale. Spouse asked the clerk what would have happened if I hadn't come in the store at all? Or if I left the store?? Even if he was technically correct according to the law, refusing to sell even if I left the premises felt just plain pedantic. So...we drove less than a mile to another store and bought the exact same bottle--with zero fuss. And next time I'll have my license. read more

Utilizing the self checkout in rush hour times and busy days is an absolute nightmare. The machines are confusing asf with no instructions or signs telling you possible issues or errors and how to navigate them. The one staff member who can't watch over 4 machines expects you to know how to EXPEDITIOUSLY use them and correct issues as if you calibrated the machine or you work there and gets snappy with you when you can't answer them. Sorry I don't pay attention to what item the machine is kicking back or why I didn't even know that was a thing?? I don't know what the issues are with why the machine kicks back items some sort of internal referencing errors on products but that's not my damn problem as a customer so don't look at me as if I caused the machine problem, even if I have still not my gd problem the machine has some sort of internal issue, YOU FIX YOUR MACHINES not the customers. Eagle River has one FredMeyer and it's great because it's clean, well lit, lots of choices, plenty of helpful employees, and clicklist- have you tried clicklist? You order your groceries on the app and they bring it to your car so it takes like 4 minutes- awesome. read more

Great clean well stocked store. They need help in the deli department big time as the employees there are NOT friendly and half the time the hot food is old. Housewares, garden, clothing, holiday areas are all well displayed and stocked. Cashiers/assistants working the self check out need to spend more time helping than being on their cell phones and gossiping with one another. I like the Fred Meyer in Eagle River. It has a lot more selection in the grocery department than the Anchorage Freddy's. How could you not love Freddy's?!? They have an amazing Deli that has premade items not available at lesser Fred's. They also have one of the nicest garden centers and sporting goods departments. The drive to Eagle River from Anchorage may be a bit of a pain for some, especially in the wintertime. If it weren't for the Muldoon Fred Meyer's long slow slide down with availability of stock, not to mention decent customer service, Fred Meyer in Eagle River may have remained forgotten in my case. Perhaps I should visit Eagle River more often! It was like a happy trip back in time. I have been on the lookout for a new TV table since finally upgrading due to being coerced by GCI cutting the cable cord. I couldn't believe my eyes after entering Fred's in Eagle River. What a beautiful store. The layout seems similar to Fred Meyer on Abbott Road, but of course this store is older, and in this case just adds to the charm. I felt transported to the Alaska I used to know and fell in love with, and I immediately wanted to get shopping. The store was clean, faced up and stocked, with better availability than the current shape Fred's Muldoon is in. I found just what I was looking for, received excellent help from customer service, and the young man Zach who helped me out to my car with the large box which contained the heavy wooden TV table. The table will look great in my living room and remind me of the pleasurable experience I had at Fred Meyer Eagle River. read more

This is the best store for groceries in ER. There is a huge selection and a lot of good prices. The Kroger brands are the same as the name for a fraction of the cost . I often get overwhelmed in here though. I tend to go when they open and before they close because they're typically slammed. Rather go here than the other store. If you're looking for specialty meats, pastries and frozen items, this is the place. I found Melba Toast and summer sausage. I found a great ethnic section and sweets aisle. Love this store. I love this store. They carry the best fresh fruits and vegetables in town that I have found so far. When you live in a state where fresh veggies are hard to find in the winter, you appreciate whatever came the closest from growing them yourself. The price is pretty reasonable compared to other chain stores. The cashier and workers there are always so nice and helpful. They really go beyond their job descriptions and duties to make sure you have the best shopping experience. If you download their app on your smart phone, you can claim an item free every Friday. You have 3 weeks to pick them up as long as you remember to claim it on a Friday. I personally love their app because not only I can claim my free item and pile them up until my next grocery shopping trip, I can download their digital coupons and have my reward card right there on the app. read more

Refilled a prescription using the automated system and was told I could pick up on 8/29 at 2:15 P.M. I went at 3:07 P.M. to pick up script and was told that three of my medications were ready, but the other would be ready in a couple hours. Came back at 5:40 P.M. and was informed that the prescription could not be filled as they were out of stock, but to come back on 9/1 and it should be in. Called on 9/1 and they did not receive that medication in shipment. Next shipment would be on 9/3. I was told that if I found another pharmacy with the medicine in stock, that I could call back and request they send the script to that pharmacy. Found a place and called to let them (Fred Meyer) know and then was told that the other pharmacy had to contact them to request it. So the other pharmacy calls it in. Since I hadn't heard anything I called to see if they (other pharmacy) received the request and if it was being filled. Nothing had been faxed, so the pharmacist said let me call over and see if Fred Meyer misplaced the request. I got a call a few minutes later and was informed that Fred Meyers pharmacy had said the script was expired and that's why they couldn't send it. I'm looking at my empty pill container that says one refill until April of 2023 and a date the script was dropped off of 4/25/2022 with it being filled 5/27/2022. Went over first thing the next morning to get this resolved. Just a little mad that I got the run around because no one knew what they were doing. read more

I will never shop in this store again. While the employees are wearing masks, the customers are free to enter and shop without a mask. The website states that masks are required. This is not true. I spoke with seven red vested 'Managers' who said it was Corporate policy to suggest a mask but not require a mask. Oh, and they said that they were sorry. Not really. Perfunctory sorry. I guess I should suggest that that I not get COVID for from careless implementation of their policy. Is the virus any more able to hear than your store managers. It would take one employee and one entrance to remedy this situation. It has been a year. Can't you people get it together. Shameful. I will not spend my money at COSTCO where they don't allow people in the door without a mask. Again, never again FRED MEYER. You have lost a customer forever. Gutless. Carless. Boooooo. I would give less than one star if this was possible. I will only support companies who require masks to keep everyone safe. I bet there are more of us people who are wearing masks than the people you are subjecting us to in your stores. If we are voting with our money, you aren't getting any more of mine. I will talk to as many of my friends as will listen and we'll see how many people you loose because I bet I know lots more people in Eagle River than anybody at your store does. This is our favorite Fred Meyer's to go to, of course, we live way up on Upper Skyline Drive, so it is the closest one. Our second favorite one is the one out in Palmer, where we go to quite often when we check up on the girls horses. The Palmer one does have the cheese and olive bar though, wish the Eagle River location had. We do notice the Eagle River location has better deals, close-outs and markdowns, that sometimes the Palmer location doesn't have. The organic selection is also much better here at the Eagle River one. While the employee's are very friendly at the Palmer location, I notice we get asked how we are doing and if we need assistance and so on and so fourth more often at the Eagle River location, making the staff a little more friendly. The guy in produce is also really nice and helpful. We love our local Fred Meyers. read more

Superb customer service--would give them 10 stars if I could!! My TV was damaged during the 30 Nov earthquake. Fred Myers was having a great holiday sale in Dec 18. I figured I would buy a replacement TV and set it up once the damage / remodeling to my house was complete. I stored the new tv in the original packing material in a safe location. Four month later the majority of repairs / remodeling were complete. I go to set up my new TV, turn it on and a black line appears across the screen. !! What the heck!!! I called Samsung and they gave me the run around. They sent out a TV repair guy and he wasn't any help--completely useless!!! I went back to Fred Meyers and I met with Shane in the electronic department, he put me in contact with the district manager and within 10 min problem solved--they agreed to exchange the TV! Can't thank the Fred Myers team enough for all their help!! read more

Fred Meyer is definitely not my first choice, (nor my 2nd choice, for that matter. For alcohol). In eagle river. But unfortunately the state law requires a valid form of Id, for almost every person present. In order to sell anything from the liquor stores. It's incredibly annoying. And changes nothing to us honest folks. But what was a useless idea during its trial period? ( I had cashiers who know me by name.) and refused to card me. Then it became a law. Watched by cameras, and punishable by loss of a job. And a 5000$ fine. Plus a felony charge. There are the unfortunately dumbass employees at every store. The one who thinks that minimum wage, makes them a god. Eyeballing every Id with a demand. Or grin. But the actual Id can be a pain in the ass. But without needing to "examine it". I have been to many freddies in my time. Not just in Alaska but all over the north west. I love me so freddies yet the one in Eagle River seems to be full of employees that hate their life... no one seems to smile or ask me if I need help. This is a nice Fred's. Similar layout to the one in Wasilla but seems cleaner and the clothing side is better organized. They have a great selection of pretty much everything; groceries, sporting goods, very nice garden center, clothing, etc. And to the reviewer that said not much selection and it was pricey - I say you get what you pay for (and generally things in AK cost more). If you want to shop at Walmart, yeah its cheaper - in every way possible (including service and QUALITY!). I'd much rather shop at Fred's. read more

I'll start by saying that Fred's is not a Walmart substitute, but rather the two stores complement each other. Fred's has a great selection of home goods, outdoor supplies and food - not so much comparable to Walmart in terms of clothing selection. I've found Fred's to be cheaper in some ways, but Walmart is by and large cheaper - quality and price. This particular Fred's must pride themselves in customer service. When I walked to the checkout, there are no long lines. It's faster and easier, but not enough people in the checkstands, because it's less crowded. However, the cashiers are nice and good prices. I like this fred Meyer store. Always clean, the workers have always been nice and friendly. I like that the WIC stuff is all properly marked and makes it easier for me to pick out what is WIC approved. The seafood/ butcher area has some good pre-made meal (salmon burgers, poke, etc). They have good selection of veggies and fruits and it always looks fresh. Sometimes I find their stuff quite expensive but there are times when they have good sales on their seafood, meats , and other things. You just have to time it. Every 3rd Thursday of the month they give military discount. The cashiers also would just give me discounts or coupon codes (if there's stuff on sale that I didn't know about) when checking out so that's always a plus. I wish they have more selection on their baby items, like target, but they have the basic baby stuff you'll need. read more

We had a little trouble finding the chicken broth (in the same isle as baby fyi), but the store was well organized, produce well organized and many sales. Most of the time the cashiers are friendly but once in awhile you will get one that isn't so great and you wish you went through a different lane. I don't use this location much anymore as I live on the opposite side of Anchorage but sometimes my family and business bring me out this way and this is where I stop to grab a quick whatever is needed. read more

I was sitting on one of the couches, on my phone. I wasn't being loud or rude, there was no one beside me or looking at the furniture. A man comes up to me and rudely asks, "are an employee" I said, "no. I work in the optical shop. We're not a part of Fred myer, we just rent the space" he then goes on to be extremely rude telling me that I'm rude and that I need to get off the "fucking" couches. A nice lady asked my politely to not sit on the couch, I got up and gave my apologies to her, and told the man he was extremely rude and shouldn't be working with the public. I know that it's hard working with people but he had no right to be so nasty. If I had a choice I wouldn't go back to there again but sadly I work in Fred Myers.
